Her vibrato is just such a turn off -- I would much rather her sing straight notes for now until she gets that fixed. If you watch this video here:

http://youtu.be/1wYTXAKPyj0?t=26s

You can easily tell that her belts were a lot rounder and projected in her earlier days, though many criticized her, saying that she was "screaming" the notes and not actually belting. I prefer the ones from pre-2010. 2011+ they start to thin :/ not sure if it's her genre change somewhat or the new vocal coach.thedigblackbicknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341723937148634092.post-23810705775792029292013-11-05T06:30:14.130+00:002013-11-05T06:30:14.130+00:00http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27sSQSSqrzg

Tom Mckinney and previously Linda Stephen or someone like that haha, I don't know if she's still working with them. That's weird because she actually has a great pronunciation (she needs some work on the "J" and the "ll" though) Anyway, I like this version more because I feel much more passion coming from this one than the english piano version. The style of the first two albums was perfect for her, but the lyrics unfortunately weren't too elaborated. Then Unbroken and Demi came with great lyrics but that electronic instrumental that I totally HATE. Only the ballads saved them (Skyscraper, For the love of a daughter and In case are awesome). Who knows, maybe the next album will put everything toghether: the style, the lyrics and the vocals. It's weird. 2nd Album, she learned to use Vibrato & still had her normal tone although Upper Belts (while not as tight sounding) began to get thinner & forced. 3rd, accessing the Upper belts easier but mid belts lost power. She also showcased a connected head voice all the way up to C6. Her current Album? In Heart Attack, she showcased nearly FLAWLESS vocals. Honestly. Other upper belts? Very squeezed, lacking tonal quality. However, her lower register improved. Her Mid Register seems to be returning as well.

The next Album, I better hear DEMI. Her tone, the power, and clearer/cleaner upper belts. I'd also love to hear more Rock/Soul oriented stuff. She shines the most in that genre.Sasuke Uchihanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341723937148634092.post-4037350623916310812013-10-27T06:58:42.196+00:002013-10-27T06:58:42.196+00:00Doesn't seem like her style if I'm being h...Doesn't seem like her style if I'm being honest. But accessing 6th Octave notes isn't uncharacteristic seeing as she easily executed an Eb6 in her rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Christmas. I truly enjoyed her tone in the earlier Eras. I believe she excels more in the Rock Genre. Her higher notes (studio-sometimes live) were open & strong and clear. They didn't stray from her tone. Unbroken, from a technical standpoint she did improve in the upper register. The mid register? It declined. Then she went on to lowering her larynx to achieve a "preferred" tone. I wouldn't dare say I prefer her post camp rock Era. I loved the sultry tone & overall power house voice she had there. Now? She just cares about high notes which sound tight & squeezed & are divergent from the rest of the tone her voice has. She's imprpoved her lower register, has better support, but she has to work on the belting more. It's inconsistent. That Vibrato too. Way too rampant.Sasuke Uchihanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341723937148634092.post-78168627623970334662013-10-26T10:34:17.225+01:002013-10-26T10:34:17.225+01:00Yes, but there's some moments it the low parts...Yes, but there's some moments it the low parts that she sounded like she was lowering her larynx. I think that her problem is that she lowers it to create a bigger sound when she actually should be opening that throat and raising her soft palate. Still, from Camp Rock until now she's improved crazily, so I'm sure she'll fix those problemsLeithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341723937148634092.post-30594112719205332482013-10-25T22:59:43.116+01:002013-10-25T22:59:43.116+01:00She sounds a lot more natural within the Mezzo Tes...She sounds a lot more natural within the Mezzo Tessitura, that's way. She's much better in that area of her voice anyway. In the upper area it's not as comfortable. It's very forced & disconnected almost.

At the beginning of the song she actually sounded like herself. As it progressed (the higher parts) she returned to that tension-like sound, closing her throat more (some parts).
