Whatever the case, it was definitely a less painful way of generating publicity.

Rihanna had the right attitude, a ballsy set piece - a damn helicopter, no less- and the perfect attire to perform her latest, very risky, single B**** Better Have My Money at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. It's just a shame the song is- as much as it breaks my heart to say- terrible*.

Seriously, the R8 campaign has been such a mess thus far. Considering it's the longest the Diva has kept us waiting for a new album, I was really expecting more of a bang from the return of one of the world's biggest stars.

As long as the show put on is enjoyable we give her a pat on the back and send her on her way. After all, JLo is known more for being an entertainer than a vocalist.

However, in promoting the Home soundtrack on American Idol, the Diva chose to sing the ballad Feel The Light. Not only did she pick a challenging song to sing, but, since she was literally static for the duration of the whole thing, she had no excuses when it came to the vocals. So, how did she fair?

There was some kinda tribute/lovefest held in honor of the musical icon that is Stevie Wonder which happened over in the States this week. Performances came from a variety of Divas, but it was of course Beyonce who stole the limelight with her take on a collection Stevie classics.

After reading the hyped up reaction to Bey's set, I was ready to feel some kind of way about it. Unfortunately, the reality was, I wasn't blown away. It had the voice, the moves and the A-game that only Bey can bring, but it just didn't pop for me in the way I thought it would. Is my soul dead?

Christina Aguilera may have opened the NBA All-Star Show, but the honor of performing at its half-time fell to Diva in training, Ariana Grande.

Starting her ten minute-plus extravaganza with Problem, the Diva delivered  a slightly sloppy rendition- with issues in her breath control being evident from the outset. However, she did hit a G#5 like it was nothing at the song's climax, so yay her.

Next followed The Weeknd-assisted Love Me Harder, which only highlighted the issues with her breathing further. The sparse opening was particularly unforgiving, leaving nowhere for her voice to hide. Things improved considerably when it came to her debut single, The Way.

I was genuinely shocked at how effortlessly they flowed from her too- especially after peeping the smoking pre-show picture on Instagram. Even Paul McCartney's mush mouth, confused "singing" wasn't enough to distract me from what I was beholding.

As a majority have probably already seen the original routine for the song, both in its official video format and performed live at various places, it was a smart move from Sia to embellish upon that (very solid) foundation come the Grammys. After all, this is the generation of novelty. So to have not added something new would have had the masses sighing and saying "not this again", instead of focusing on the performance at hand. (Trust me, if Pink can suffer that line of stupidity for her repeated, impressively athletic live renditions of Try, it could happen to Sia.)
