JESSICA REEDY Low Mezzo-soprano or Contralto?

Jessica Reedy

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Jessica Reedy may not be a singer many of you have heard of, but in the gospel community she is well regarded, mainly because of her extensive lower register. Is she a rare contralto or one of many low mezzo-sopranos commonly mistaken for contraltos in popular music? Let's take a look at this performance to get a better understanding:

[Free For All Friday]

Hey ya'll. Diva Devotee and I are tag teaming now. Gotta keep the tradition alive!

If you don't know the score, here be the rules:

  • Try not to get too perverted- this site needs to basically be "safe for work".
  • If somebody starts a controversial subject, try keeping it civil when dealing with it. If things get out of hand please flag the conversation.
  • It would be nice if it stuck to music, but it's not a requirement! So talk about news, current events, how you're getting your hair done it doesn't matter. As long as it is productive.
  • No nasty comments aimed at other users.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe, ya'll!

[Review] Ruby Friedman Orchestra - Gem

Post by: Montrez Rambo

I don't know what it is about Ruby Friedman that made me fall in love with her upon discovery but I can't leave this woman alone. So, when I found out she was releasing her first full-length album at the end of 2016, I waited with so much anticipation.

[NEW MUSIC] Minzy - Ninano

Post by: Montrez Rambo

I've been waiting for this day for over a year. Who is Minzy, you may ask?

She is the former Maknae (youngest) of world renowned K-pop girl group, 2NE1. In 2015, 2NE1 had a serious scandal revolving around drug allegations. As a result, a member was forced into hiding for over a year. Meanwhile, the leader of 2NE1, CL, was preparing for an American debut, pushing everyone else in the group onto the back burner. Minzy, who had tiny rumours circulating that she'd be making a solo debut soon, was at a stand still. She continued to wait for the day she could reach out, show artistry and get recognition.

[Open Thread] Happy Easter!

Happy Easter all!

This has been a crazy, crazy year! Can you beleive it's already halfway through April? I hope everyone has been having a good time so far. If everyone's comfortable enough, I want you all to write a synopsis on how your 2017 has been treating you so far!

In the meantime, enjoy some gospel performances from two of my favorite gopsel singers!

"The Tonight Show" Welcomes Two Performances from Solange

The Tonight Show saw Solange stop by to perform two cuts from her critically acclaimed album A Seat at the Table.

All in red and serving up art-school realness, the Diva and her unsure backing gave Rise and Weary the live treatment on the night. Yes, there was meaning behind the tethered look, but focus from that was pulled by the awkward harmonies and shoddy implementation of choreography.

Solange sounded good though, and more confident than on her SNL set. Perhaps it's a case of Solo getting used to the new material?
