[WATCH] - One Love Manchester

Post by: Montrez Rambo

As a result of the terrorist attach in Manchester, England, a benefit concert was organized to raise money for the families affected.
I won't comment on the performances themselves apart from that I enjoyed them and it really brought joy to me to see people coming together to show that tragedy can't break them, that they're bigger than the events that transpired.

I do want to talk about Ariana, though. I think it is fair to say she handled the tragedy extremely well. I was a bit worried abut how she'd be dealing with it all and how she was taking care of herself during the aftermath after reading reports that she was very, upset. I just couldn't imagine being in her shoes, with so many young people just there to enjoy a concert to have their lives taken from them. She probably felt responsible for their deaths. However, she's been very supportive of the families affected and staying positive.

After all, a concert is a place where people go to get away from the world, to enjoy their favorite artists in an environment where they can be fully immersed, in many ways, a sanctum. The One Love Manchester concert was that and more for many. The link is below.

[Free For All Friday]

Ya'll, life has been hell the past month. Okay, since April, I got moved from my division to the supply division to be this think called an FSA. Well, the galley and messdecks on my ship got shut down for renovations for a month so they moved all the FSAs to deck division. We were out in the sun, sanding, needle gunning and painting the helo-tower, aft missile deck and flight deck. It was awful. But, we're back in the messdecks again so I'm partially relieved.

If you're new here, the rules:

  • Try not to get too perverted- this site needs to basically be "safe for work".
  • If somebody starts a controversial subject, try keeping it civil when dealing with it. If things get out of hand please flag the conversation.
  • It would be nice if it stuck to music, but it's not a requirement! So talk about news, current events, how you're getting your hair done it doesn't matter. As long as it is productive.
  • No nasty comments aimed at other users.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe, ya'll!

[Tragic] Katy Perry Continues Free Fall On SNL

Post by: Diva Devotee
Katy Perry is having the era from hell with album number five, Witness.

The lukewarm reception to Rise- which I actually enjoyed- in hindsight should have read as a warning from the fates that a continuation in this "mature" direction would be unwise. The subsequent releases of Chained to the Rhythm, Bon Appétit and now, Swish Swish appears to confirm this, suggesting ain't nobody here for "woke"* wretches* Perry. Give the kids that sweet, sweet, candy pop.

[Rant] Miley Cyrus - Malibu

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Damn Miley! Going back from (C)unt to Country I see? Not exactly... We'll get to that in a minute... How is Malibu? Great! Sultry vocals, an indie/alternative flare and very, very good lyrics? The song just made me feel good... But, in my Big Freedia voice, "What happened... In that Billboard interview?"

[NEW MUSIC] Niia - Sideline (Feat. Jazmine Sullivan)

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Where to begin? Um, I just must say wow. I am impressed. Niia picked a hell of a way to make a debut and the right artist to feature.

[NEW MUSIC] Ezi Emela - Chineke Meh

Post by: Montrez Rambo

So, a few months ago I stumbled across this Ezi Emela, chick. Everything about her had me captivated... She was dark and gorgeous, with features atypical of the western beauty standards, but were to die for among West Africans/ African Americans/ West Indian people. Not only that but she had a very interesting sound and image.

[NEW MUSIC] Lorde - Green Light

Post by: Montrez Rambo

So, Lorde is back with a new song called Green Light.

It's a nice little pop song, if a bit generic. The music video is definitely Lorde-esque with quirky rave/T-Rex arm dancing and Donald Trump style mouthing of words... The vocals were relatively decent, though she still decides to battles with her lower register and middle instead of working with it. You know, if you don't have a low voice, it's okay to not sing low. No hard feelings, of course.
