[LIVE] Niia ft. Jazmine Sullivan - Sideline

Post by: Montrez Rambo

I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for the Niia and Jazmine Sullivan to perform Sideline live (Even if it was pre-recorded).

The visuals were nice, but this wasn't as perfect as I'd hoped.

I'll talk about what I liked first: Jazmine's short wig is my favourite piece of hair in her collection. Her overall outfit was nice. Niia too looked great with her French braid. The camera work and scene changes, when they were alone in the studio, were also nice.

[NEW MUSIC] Toni Braxton - Deadwood

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Toni Braxton isn't done ya'll. The nearly fifty year old is showing that her voice is still in good shape with the new sing Deadwood.

The track starts with some sweet, if ordinary, sounding acoustic guitar. They give way to some light weight but dark in colour vocals, a signature of Ms. Braxton. She gave upper mid-belts and growls towards the end, that forego the love it or hate hypo-nasality associated with her style.

Katy Perry Owns the Summer With "Feels".

Post by: Montrez Rambo

So, I live in a vacuum sometimes. I don't get internet access that often but when I do, the first thing I do is check out every single new song I missed. And Feels by Calvin Harris is just everything I needed this summer!

Demi Lovato - "You Don't Do it For Me Anymore"

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Demi Lovato shows studio growth in new single You Don't Do it For Me Anymore".

The slow R&B ballad, with its gospel influenced vocals, is reminiscent in production to that of Dangerous Woman by Ms. Grande. But who cares, vocally it's better.

Demi gave good dynamics! Demi gave solid head voice! Demi gave precise runs! Demi gave sizeable sounding belts! The girl's vocals had drama and conviction. Her vibrato didn't sound like a pelican burping, either!

[NEW MUSIC] Kali Uchis "Nuestro Planeta"

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Kali Uchis has yet to make an artistic misstep since I came across her music. Nuestro Planeta is no exception. It's not too different from the tons of other reggaeton out there but the visuals in the music video were juicy.

The oiliness, the sexy guys, the chick p*ssy popping on the floor, the bikes, lighting... it's something to behold.

Kesha Slays VOCALLY and EMOTIONALLY with the Triumphant "Praying"

Post by: Diva Devotee
Kesha has been through the most turbulent of times, so it's  not surprising her return to music, free from the controlling shackles of Dr. Luke, would explore themes of rebirth and new beginnings. What is surprising is how hard the Diva goes, vocally, on the emotional track, Praying.

[Proof] Jennifer Hudson doesn't SHOUT (or Warm-up) when singing.

Post by: Diva Devotee
Some of y'all wanna clown Jennifer Hudson, calling her "Foghorn" and "loud".

Adjectives I can kind of get, if I try really hard. What I can't be dealing with, is people saying she shouts when she's hitting notes your faves could only dream of.

There is a clear difference between shouting and singing. One takes control, coordination and skill, the other is an unfocused and chaotic push to create sound. If you can't tell the difference, watch as the Pocketbook singer schools a Voice contestant on the difference between the two all while offering helpful tips on staying on pitch.
