This strange event was aired during Celine Dion's stint on Le Banquier- which is apparently the Quebec derivative of the game show that loves boxes: Deal Or No Deal. I'm not sure why they were filming this moment- or following her into the loo- but it proves that Celine doesn't have to mime the belts (as some have suggested) to latest single, Loved Me Back To Life. She's clearly more than capable of hitting the notes.
The video ends with the Canadian Diva showing her funny side, telling a man heading to the restroom- which she'd just left- that he should use it quickly before she purchases it for its "amazing" sound. I can only imagine what "sound" he thought she was talking about! (...at least I think she was joking....)
Obviously some people still want to nitpick. No, it wasn't vocally perfect and yes it was a really simple song so I can understand why some aren't impressed, but at the same time when you have some say "wow, I'm surprised at her self-control, etc" it's hard to tell whether they're masking the compliments with sarcasm… This does however, prove to those who over-exaggerate and say she only screams, can't sing in tune or without strain and even her tone has suffered. And to those who say she's still not relevant any more, why has the song rocketed to No.1 on iTunes? Imo, a lot of her recent collaborations were the hits they are because of her appearance on them.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm sure a belt or two could easily have been incorporated in there if I was Christina. I mean when she was singing Beautiful, Linda Perry had to tell her to "stop doing that Mariah shit", and we still get those belts at the end. I definitely think Christina's capable of singing a simple song, but I also think she's a show off and it might take some effort to restrain herself.
ReplyDeleteI think the structure of Beautiful allowed for those belts at the end because it reaches a climax from the middle onwards so she did let loose a bit halfway through, but the first part of Beautiful is rather raw and restrained. This song on the other hand, stays the same throughout and there are a few little runs in there that make it distinguishable that it's her.
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO Bitch please. You're just pressed after this little demo by Celine. And we all know why. Poor little lost lamb.
ReplyDeleteNo, Kelly wasn't copying Mariah at all and you and I both know it. So it's not that you genuinely dislike they song because you personally find it dismaying, but because your stan for Mariah is far too great to appreciate other work that seems to challenge your fav's. Get over yourself, you like Kelly's song and you know it's better than Jessica's. Kelly pretending is a bs answer & you know it. The song is reminiscent to Mariah's 'cause it's a Holliday classic that expresses fondness of a loved one....how the Christmas spirit is SUPPOSED to feel. Copy is what Madonna did with Cyndi Lauper's style, not this.
ReplyDelete"Since when has an opera singer sang a xtina song and executed it as good as her?" Why would an opera singer WANT to? Opera singers sing pieces 100000x harder than anything Christina could ever fathom of producing.
ReplyDelete"You only have you're biased standards" So do you, so does everyone. Look up the definition of bias. Learn the words you're using.
"and if people want to applaud her then that is because they feel
something you don't because you are blinded by you're technicalities..." People are allowed to like what they like and I am allowed to dislike what I dislike. I am not blinded by technicalities, knowledge doesn't cloud, it magnifies perception.
"because music has no standard" Music does have standards, you don't. You are not music, stop projecting your ideals into music. Music has rules, whether you realize them or not. Your willful state of ignorance does not cancel out facts.
"And you have taken all these classes yet you are still an unknown
vocal student, and still not a professional." I am a student on the way to his bachelor's, and eventually a master's. Fun fact, most music students AREN'T KNOWN. You seem to have some kind of delusion that popularity equates to talent and unquestioned ability, yet I doubt you'd go to bat for people like Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, etc.
"TAKING A FEW CLASSES DOES
NOT MAKE YOU ALL KNOWING. So get you're life!"
I did not once claim to be a know it all, I do however know more than you, clearly.
"Because no know vocal
path will ever insert any categorization or standard in pop to opera or
vise, its controversial and unethical..." Controversial and unethical? I'm going to need you to stop using words that you don't know the meaning of. Vocal pedagogy DOES set a standard in pop and opera, and in healthy vocalizations. Vocal pedagogy is an established science, there isn't room to debate.
"I say non biased because for the first time in how many years has her
single gone up to number 1, so obviously people will buy something they
want to listen to and not particularly the singer, she has had many
songs better than this in the last few years that has not even charted. " I won't touch too much on this, mainly because the meaning of bias seems to evade you.
"So maybe you need to take that English class yourself..." No darling, still just you. If I had a dollar for every syntax and spelling error in the 2 responses you have "graced" me with, I'd be able to pay off my student loans and have a few extra dollars spending money.
I came in expecting a grand spectacle of vocalization, and like I said, I got a sub-par attempt at a minimalist singing style. Don't get me wrong, I love when artists go for the less is more approach just as much as I love more technical and complex numbers, but there are plenty of singers who can sing in a minimalist style and not sound so basic when doing so. This performance gave me the vibe of a young girl performing her first recital, not someone with as much experience as her, someone who should know how to make a song come to life, considering her influences. If this is what a stunning performance is for someone with more than a decade's worth of experience, I'd hate to see a poor one.
ReplyDeleteI think you may have been one of the people saying she lipped the notes, luiz. If I'm wrong, I apologise in advance!
ReplyDeleteNot even a fan of her but she sounds great here. This sounds better than some of her live performances of the song.
ReplyDeleteAlso why is she laughing so much?
ReplyDeleteI think she was laughing at her own seriousness in that clip.
ReplyDeleteHahaha perfect retort.
ReplyDeleteSorry...*fair* guess that should have been.
ReplyDeletePerhaps.
ReplyDeleteAs an Alison Krauss fan, I cannot but agree the possible merits of the "less is more" approach.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as I have no technical knowledge myself, I didn't hear any technical flaws in Christina's performance. But it did seem pretty basic singing to my ears.
Nothing wrong with that but I think the problem here is that DD build this up to something it imo evidently is far from..."stunning".
I think the main problem here is not so much with this performance but more with the expectations the intro sets.
Here's something minimalistic which I personally DID and DO feel is deserving of the accolade "stunning".
Hope you'll enjoy it. :-)

Well as the person have the right to his opinion I do to... He is Hating hard, and you either take it or leave it...
ReplyDeleteI don't respect his hating and he does not have toy respect my defense to xtina....
Goes both ways! Have a nice day...
NOTHING is getting heated....
ReplyDeleteI just called him a hater, the opposite of a stan... point blank, I was not throwing shade since it's an obvious... :)
Oh God! Please post a video of yourself singing then we can all comment on you're technical singing...
ReplyDeleteif you expect mediocrity from her why even bother clicking the video to listen and spending time to even comment on it, when you know damn well the result will still be the same..
You're still not gonna like her... lol what changed??? honey?
I DID YOUR JUST DELUSIONAL....
ReplyDeleteI hate wanna be voice paths, who think taking a few voice classes makes them a pro...
ReplyDeleteThrowing out or pointing out vocal flaws on any pop singer is too easy... you are too predictable its getting old get a new material..
And many great musicians strain so what's you're point??
ReplyDeleteyou don't know me and nothing you say would ever hurt me darling, I don't know you, I don't know you're mom or dad, why would your opinion of me shape my feelings of myself because a bunch of people are typing behind a computer???
ReplyDeleteTry criticizing these singers to their faces or get something more substantial than just a blog...
I had an opinion of the poster and i took his "critics" well for the past what few months? on all xtina videos, I just had an opinion today so it seems you guys can't take a critic, don't self reflect...
You missed MY point!
ReplyDeleteThe universal feeling of a music in a huge population is generally mutual...
Technical skill is a method, but is not universally mutual...
Many artist would prefer basic singing with stronger emotions than a mathematical singer.
Boring no matter how good technical abilities are will never move the same heights or mountains as a person who can wether limited range or bad technical style...
Music is an art to me not science, maybe it's how you view it... I GUESS...
ReplyDeleteStuffing an art form into science just will never be ethical.... regardless of how you may view it... Even technical voice, still requires a form of artistry. We don't listen to just the voices but the overall impact or delivery no matter what genre or who is singing...
Don't shout dear, it doesn't make you right. :-)
ReplyDeleteIn spite of most of your English being very close to gibberish..no. I and everybody else got your point alright. Perhaps you should try translating people's comments in your own language before replying.
ReplyDeleteJust a friendly suggestion. As it would aid you in understanding your "point" was a nonsensical one, posted in response to a comment you clearly failed to comprehend. :-)
Sweetie. As I have stated many times in this blog..I could not sing my way out of a paper bag myself. But my ears are just fine. Unlike your understanding of each and every comment you reply to. What is so hard to understand though, even for one with such limited comprehension, about the sentence " Seeing as I have no technical knowledge myself"?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am amazed that someone as knowledgeable as you claim to be on who posts what and how often regarding Christina, you nevertheless failed to notice I am one who has many times defended her.
In fact, I clearly did so in this very thread. A mere three comments above this one.
But I guess the lines " because I actually do not hate Christina and know she has shown some
wonderful performances? Something a lot of her haters here seem to
perpetually be unable to retain in their memories." were also beyond your limited understanding.
I do not expect mediocrity. Frankly based on the pattern of my experiences of posts on the big divas during the time I spent on this blog, I would expect to be disappointed.
I simply ,when someone makes a big announcement about how stunning the performance attached is going to be, expect something......"stunning". Or at least something close to it.
This was not stunning. Not even if you forget all about technique and only think of emotional content it wasn't.
THIS would be an example of what I consider emotionally stunning and technique ...who the fuck cares when you hear this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVpDOIPx_sY
Now do you seriously want to continue pretending to people here that Christina's performance above comes even close to being stunning after hearing Janis?
ps "honey" will do just fine. No need to call me "God".
ReplyDeleteI wasn't trying to hurt you with what I stated. That was you insinuating again. It just that your hopeless defense of Christina is unjustifiable if 1. Macbre is intittled to his opinion, 2. His opinion was based off of blatant facts, 3. This song was incredibly easy to sing, And 4. She still messed up.
ReplyDeleteSure sweetie. May your day be warm easy on the mind!
ReplyDeleteYeah.... You definitely need to reread my comments. Like...sit down get a magnifying glass and a dictionary and do an on the spot literary anylisis til you get the simplicity of my point. You know what, do the same for Opie and Macabre's comments as well. Then take a nice long nap. Come back after you've drunken some lemon-rhubarb tea and eaten a crumbly to make better sense of what we posted. By shyuggah... :)
ReplyDeleteTo everyone, I can see comments in my blogger comments that aren't registering on the main blog. I'm not sure what's going on, but will try sort out. (It could just be me, though? Anyone else seeing 9 comments on the post, oppose to 30+?)
ReplyDeleteI don' think anyone is directing her on how to sing - this song is so simple that there really only seems to be the one way of singing it, and I think she already knew how she was going to sing it - she complemented the way they sing it and harmonised along with them, I'm sure she knew it would be inappropriate and out of place to do her usual thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the Britney picture though?
ReplyDeleteI mean. Kelly tried to "pretend" that she didn't want to copy "All I want for christmas is you". At least, Jessica was obvious.
ReplyDeleteBitch, please. Stop trying to promote this flop.
ReplyDeleteOnce again. Read closely.
ReplyDeleteOPEN. FORUM
Oh you're still on this? Pathetic....
ReplyDeleteI didn't take you seriously at the beginning and laughed but then I just clarified my point.
ReplyDeleteI hate to disagree, but I'd say that Miley is indeed a natural rocker, and natural at country, and weepy ballads, and now, apparently, at rap. But rock is in her background. Heck, even Billy Ray is a rocker. You should hear his cover of Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" and compare his cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" to Miley's -- both great! Rock is just a different kind of tension for her, in the words of The Buzzcocks memorably titled album, that's liable to reappear at the time and in the way she happens to be feeling it. At least I hope so. But either Pharrell or Mike Will said her voice has "no limits" -- except for opera, I'd guess -- and she seems very comfortable in a variety of styles.
ReplyDeleteWhich leads me to agree with your view that the variety on Bangerz is great. Some reviewers called it "disjointed," I call it "welcome variety." Maybe a ballad or two more than I'd have liked, and I'm not quite in love with 4x4, but the album is fun and strong and, as you say, has some great humor. Indeed, two of my faves are songs most critics disliked -- SMS Bangerz is a blast. At least one reviewer noted the resemblance in Miley's rapping to Kreayshawn, of the now-defunct White Girl Mob out of Oakland. They pioneered what I like to call "Cute White Chick Rap," with Kreayshawn's "Gucci Gucci" line "I got the swag and it's pumping out my ovaries" being IMO a classic. Most critics hated Kreayshawn, Lil Debbie and V-Nasty, but not me. So SMS Bangerz is a major win to me and I can't wait for the video. I also really liked Love.Money.Party from the critic's hate list. Other winners thus far include Adore You and Maybe You're Right. So many looks on this album. I like it.
Thanks for reading my Miley comments on Alternet. As to why people can't see what's right in front of their face, that Miley is smart, funny and way cool, I'm guessing there's always people who want to knock down a powerful woman. They see it as well as I do, but instead of celebrating it, they want to destroy it. At least that's one idea I have. And then, maybe they only see some of her antics but never saw her on a talk show, getting everyone to laugh their ass off. Three cheers to the rappers for seeing who she is.
That said, I'll spam some more Miley rock links. Live perfs of her punky "7 Things" and "Fly On The Wall," both from British TV, and her live duet of "Jolene" with her awesome godmother Dolly Parton. The girl has range. BTW, the "Fly On The Wall" is the one where she forgot the words for a verse, but it was still a slamming perf of a song that usually givers her trouble. And the tongue appears! :D
I'll stop the links now. ;D

Horrible performance.
ReplyDeleteShe sounded quite nasal at some parts in Wrecking Ball, but the bridge was killer and We Can't Stop sounds pretty decent, is it just me or do acoustic songs fit Miley Cyrus especially well (Backyard sesh's)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call it a classic I would say that it was more so memorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure this phase anyway is just a phase and will pass.
ReplyDeleteBut frankly.....aside from all that media frenzy. I first of all really see her not do anything I haven't already seen pop stars do decades ago and also..I am really loving her album Bangerz. I think it's really good.
I am actually just fine with Miley as she is right now. :-)
Before I heard the album I was also hoping she get back to music like those Backyard Sessions but now I think she is actually making good music right now as well.
Now that you say that, I have to agree with you 100%, Disney is not really innocent when it comes to morphing young idols into what they think works for the media, this is probably the major trigger for all the "child stars gone bad" (Amanda Bynes is probably the most recent victim). that being said i hope she turns back to the backyard sesh-miley as well :)
ReplyDeleteI belive that they should, istead of simply using the views, use the 'likes' or some kind of acceptance of the video , just to show what the public thinks about the single, but I guess a good point will be that now we will see most artists putting real effort into videos, instead of some snooze videos many people do, especially those 'live' ones.
ReplyDeleteJazmine sullivan is a dramatic contralto. Bb5-F5. She. A half a step from the soprano range c3
ReplyDeleteLana's the only singer that I consistently skip on my iPod. I don't even know why I have her in it; I guess I used to like Video Games or somth...
ReplyDeleteI think her voice is very unique. Her voice can sound really really bad at some points though. She sounds really nice to me most of the time though. I like how she can add a tremble and lightness to her voice but can still sing in a full, thick voice or a throaty one. Her head voice is really good as well, but like I said, if she's not hitting the notes, she sounds extremely bad. When she hits notes live, I can't help but to rewind and hear it again. But I won't deny that she needs work. A vocal coach that REALLY showed her the ins and outs of HER voice could make her voice something to look out for.
ReplyDeleteI dont think we were saying Whitney was her greatest influence but she has list her as an influence. She has also list striesand as an influence and I agree she takes more to streisand method.
ReplyDeleteI thought her vocals were great. But I hated the production. The kicks in the background don't fit in with the pop ballad instrumentation. I'm not too crazy about it, but it's good!
ReplyDeleteI love the chorus though
ReplyDeleteI want here to singing when someone gets voted off is that mean :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's funny to compare her voice now and from the 90's. I don't think it's vocal damage as much as it is her voice deepening. I was very impressed by her vocals though! Still one of the best in the biz.
ReplyDeletehaha I don't think that ego is ever going away, but her shade, much like what she did in this gif, kills me haha.
ReplyDeleteDude I checked her YouTube channel shes not that good. She dose have a very controlled vibrato
ReplyDeleteKimberly always does this pouty lip thing and it freaks me out hahaha nice girl though so i wish her the best
ReplyDeleteI think the problem really isn't Nicole - it's more on the song itself. The chord progression is the same for almost all of 'THE E.N.D.' by 'The Black-Eyed Peas', and it's a really tired set of chords, not to mention the whole 'I am [insert generic powerful inspirational metaphoric word]' has gotten really old - with 'Firework', 'Titanium', etc. It just doesn't work anymore. Nicole got everyone's last-season toss-aways.
ReplyDeleteKorean Destiny's Child?
ReplyDeleteI'm gearing for Beyonce and 2ne1's comeback....
ReplyDeleteI noticed this song and her shennanigans on digital spy a few months ago. I agree totally with you, her voice is nowhere near strong either technically or in raw talent stakes but credit to her for going for her dream (which has always been to do the whole west end style of music and performances) I think she has a better voice than Cheryl, but thats not hard lets face it and at least she sings live! I agree the rest of her stuff will be interesting to hear though, not sure I will be rushing to buy the album though. Oh and on a final note, I really like the production of the song. :)
ReplyDeleteSo the Beyonce lipping rumours have started huh?! I think it could be true! So yeh Kelly does win...muahahahaha ;)
ReplyDeleteAnything to cheer you up! And that's why a sexy nerd has to find a companion to give them massages for those achy mornings. LOL. Heaven knows I have been practically immobilized from all the stress, depression, pressure, etc. But the music and the love of trusted allies has gotten me through some very bleak times!
ReplyDeleteActually, she is wearing a wig. She does not wear weaves due to damage to her hair from over use of weaves. Weaves should only be used temporarily not everyday. Just a tid bit of info, LOL!
ReplyDeleteHm. She has quite a low rasp for a mezzo--if she is one, I suspect she might not be for long. She'll probably be a contralto by the time she's thirty.
ReplyDeleteI think Chris might actually be valid receiving the female fach, actually. His speaking voice is incredibly light and high--he really does SOUND like a soprano. His showcased range thus far may not qualify him as one (and on the show, his character compares his range to an alto castrato), but a countertenor typically has a lower speaking voice with a high, upper extension some call falsetto (which is wrong--true counters sing in mix/head, though some can make passing imitations with falsetto production, leading to the more "emotionless" sound some complain about). He is more of an haute-contre (a high tenor variant that was the response to the Italian Castrato--a tenor with a truly high speaking voice), or a light mezzo/soprano, much like Micheal...Manniaci, I think his name is? You can call him a countertenor too--the fach is annoyingly lacking in distinctions like all the others, but he doesn't fit the few rules the fach already has, at least not exactly.
ReplyDeleteI thought only the attention whores did short films lol.
ReplyDeleteExcept Lana, of course.
What is 'talent'? Well, if you define it was a god-given gift, Mariah's voice is definitely superior. Training? Mariah wins there too.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I never said she had more talent. I just said I prefer her voice, and listed my reasons for doing so.
If you're going to refer to my favorite singer of all time to insult me, do it correctly. Mariah never uttered the word "bye" in Migrate you idiot.
ReplyDeleteShe's a bit of a has-been these days anyway. Her career bombed in 2001, sky rocketed back up to the stars in 2005, and now it's just sort of lingering in the same spot but being swallowed by a bunch of newer rockets ala Nicki Minaj, Adele, Beyonce, Rihanna etc.. She's neither popular or unpopular; relevant or irrelevant; she's simply out-dated. She's achieved her legend status so that's what people think of her as. I don't think Idol could damage her career in any way, though it depends on how she comes across for the rest of the series... Then again, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
ReplyDeleteI actually like you, and you're comments on other posts, I'm not yelling... just so you know... was just making a point... kisses.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was. But I NEVER said she couldn't hit those notes. I Just said that in several "live" performances, she was actually lip syncing. After all, she recorded the notes for the original track, didn't she? Are you that dumb?
ReplyDeleteHi, Opie FHOE. Now it's your turn:
ReplyDeleteI'm not pressed, not even close. Mariah's been doing this kind of videos since last year - what makes Celine a copycat, and you A DUMB bicht!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umIf7rgwE-E&hd=1
First off all, that was like one line of singing and second...halfway down that line she ran into trouble. Plus someone had to spot the words to "we are family"???
ReplyDeleteNope foul mouth, you still sound pressed and just proved .... rightly so.
You are also not bright enough to call anybody else "dumb" because the point here is not the location but what takes place at that location.
U, bitch. Mariah was having fun and singing for us, lambs (And still belt the hell outta that devine mouth). Mariah's been doing these acapella videos since forever, so Celine is a copycat. By the way, Mariah did it for fun, Celine did it to promote a dead single. haahahahahahaha. Celine and her stans are the ones who look so PRESSED. Go buy a copy of "Loved me back to live", maybe u can save that crap.
ReplyDeleteWhe I heard Celine and Mariah were about to release singles with Stevie Wonder, I thought it would be a REAL fight. But just yesterday I heard Celine's duet with Stevie. That dumb bitch recorded a new version of "Overjoyed". Oh, my God! No creativity, nothing new. A waste of time and a waste of Stevie. I bet Mariah wrote an original song. That's why I say Mariah is a better ARTIST.
ReplyDeleteLove Stevie's voice here, though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP9Zu_Z_2iQ&hd=1
LOL she's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteAnd in the mean time...you clearly remain pressed baby. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even have to bother explaining why. You provided us with the videotaped proof of why little lost lambs are pressed after seeing the video proof of Celine's vocal superiority.
Thank you dear sweetie.
Love her hilariousness, ever!!! Why do I smell some nasty-fishy animosity here? Why the harsh branding?Hmmm,I can't see a reason to pick up a fight over a singer singing in a comfort room...She's just having fun,man.Chill...
ReplyDeleteYou'd rather save your energy to promote AOLG, 'cause you know inside your heart it wont sell more than LMBTL.
ReplyDeleteAlso who cares if she lips?, everyone does it right now lel.
Dahhling I already told you, tell Mariah to stop driking alcohol and she might be able to perform her songs live.
Yeah singing in the bathroom now is Mariah Copyright :l Seriously you need to stop and get a girlfriend/boyfriend to hang out.
ReplyDeleteyou dirty pig, I know The art of letting go won't sell - I've already said this right here. Try to keep it up, F-hoe.
ReplyDeleteAnd about Mariah's voice: it happens to be a BIG deal to HATERS. Waiit, watch it, and you'll learn. She's gonna smash some heads like yours.
f-hoe, please, shut the fuck up! Celine is NOTHING as an artist. And now she's copying Mariah's idea.
ReplyDeletehahahahaha. Try again, F-hoe. Celine is far from Mariah's level.
ReplyDeleteLuiz, do the world a favour and go choke on some GLITTER you hateful B!TCH
ReplyDeleteOh wai- how 'bout Mottola?
ReplyDeleteSexual abuse, violence and she wasn't able to breath without his permission LEL.
Did you understand what I wrote, you dumbass? Is Mariah still under Mottola's wings? Celine always needs someone to say what she has to do. She's not free as an artist. That's why she's so boring!
ReplyDeleteand do your favour to your parents: act like a man and show your face.
ReplyDeletejust listened to this old bitch whole album. My god! One of the worst albums EVER. But... wait... WAIT! THE FUNNIEST thing EVER is the song "Water and a flame" - Celine REALLY tries to sound like Adele. heheheheheheeh I felt ashamed myself. hahahahaha LOL! The bitch is running outta ideas.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Xs8FaQFVXPc
ReplyDeleteok, please, f-hoe! Try once again.
ReplyDeletehttp://25.media.tumblr.com/37d8ace90d5251d7ee01616d87b61c8a/tumblr_mop4apKkaO1qf7ieyo1_1280.gif
ReplyDeleteI don't need to try again sweets. You and DD posted the facts. Celine can still sing, Mariah can't AND needs the line of "we are family" spotted.
ReplyDeleteIndeed our preferences say a lot about ourselves.
I prefer singers who can produce the goods live.
I'm not buying the flaw you put down. That's more of a style thing than it is ability.
ReplyDeletehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaahhaahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa
ReplyDeletehahahaha
hahaahhahahahahaha
ahahahahahahahahahaa
ahaa
So, you may wait a while. boo, 'cuz Celine doesn't perform (A WHOLE) song live in a long time. That lip sync queen. That woman is fake and a shame to the music industry, just as you are for mankind. hahahahahahahaahahaha
Watch Celine's excuse for lip syncing. That old bitch. SHAME! shame:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62iz3SUkEJ4&hd=1
I LOVE the Spinto Fach. Their calibre is to die for.
ReplyDeleteI would like to note that the notes past C5 do not lose power, at all. She has an EVEN scale all through out. She's maintained resonance ALL of the way up G#5 as you can easily hear in her rendition of I Am Changing. The weight is still there.
Anyway, what ISN'T perfect about her? TONE, UNPARALLELED HEAD VOICE, Large voice size, huge sound in the mid belts, and that legendary dramatic Vibrato. Yes, they got it RIGHT when they branded this woman THE VOICE. That most certainly is what she is. A TRUE great, and not these overrated singers whom seem to appear great because they have an expansive range. What makes one a great vocalist is HOW they utilize their instrument, not what they have. Another thing that should be more credited is her musicianship. This woman is a true virtuoso.
I'm not a huge fan of the voice, but she is a BRILLIANT MUSICIAN & not many can reach her in that aspect.
ReplyDeleteMy larynx is soar after listening to that lol Demi's voice could pierce through large sounds before. Now she's being drowned out, in mid range? The STRONGEST PART of her voice? Get it together Demi!
ReplyDeleteLove ARTPOP. Never expected to love it quite so much. But I dislike Jewels N' Drugs :x
ReplyDeleteTake into consideration the weight She has? Virtually none. Her Lower Register? She's hardly audible after an F sharp. The tessiutra? Far too high. She has sung in the Soprano tons of times with complete accuracy, like a Soprano should. That's something Mezzos can't really do. Then, her timbre is extremely bright in the upper register & in general. These qualities scream Soprano, Lyric Soprano especially seeing as the voice naturally blooms as it ascends. Tell me, HOW is it possible for her to be a Mezzo? The fact that she's Chest Dominant? Not really.
ReplyDeleteListen to Lady Gaga, Martina McBride, Reba, Anastacia, and Beyonce (true Mezzos). Jordin is no Mezzo. Sometimes it can be confusing, but she's relatively easy to pin point. Just listen to her timbre & how bright she is in the upper register. Unmistakably, the girl is a Light Lyric Voice.
Still pressed ain't you babe ;-)
ReplyDeleteLipping or not, Celine in the bathroom video proves she is capable of delivering live. Mariah in her video proves she isn't anymore.
Poor little lost lamb. Hugs sweetie!
Jordin has a much better voice than she's given credit for. I wish she'd sing more vocally challenging pieces to show off the true vocal dexterity. Maybe that will wake people up because it's not that she's incredibly hot that she won American Idol, she can sing her face off with the awesome voice she possesses. Many people wish and think they can like her.
ReplyDeleteDarker than a Full Soprano? Like Nicole Scherzinger, whose voice is darker than hers yet is still a Soprano? And Jordin's voice has proven to be very agile. Have you heard the accuracy & speed of those Melismatic formations in her song One Wing from the movie Sparkle? Yes, agility is there. Trust me, the girl is a Soprano. Her timbre isn't dark, like at all lol She does have a chest dominant mix, that's it. Bright colour, light voice, no lower register, high tessitura. Doesn't sound like a Mezzo to me.
ReplyDeleteCrazy agility and accuracy. The lower register is so well developed. This girl is definitely one to watch.
ReplyDeleteHi "Sasuke"...
ReplyDeleteQuick Question -
Considering that your knowledge is vocal pedagogy is quite extensive, could you please explain to me what you think it would take for a Male singer to be considered a "Full- Lyric/Kavalier/Dramatic Baritone" in Popular music? (I wont include the 'Verdi Baritone' subset because they are a rare voice type even within the confines of Opera/Classical music)
Personally speaking, I believe I am a "Kavalier- Baritone" (Spinto- Baritone) of whom is well on their way to maturing into a "Dramatic Baritone". My voice is, by nature, very thick and full of power, volume and weight but, seeing that I'm only 20 years old, I'm far too young to say that I am a 'Full- Dramatic voice'.
Also, what does it mean to have a 'Metallic' voice and would you say that Peabo Bryson a "Lyric Baritone"?
I can FINALLY hear the B♭2 in Sexxx Dreams. Yeah, this needs to be updated. 3 octaves and 1 semitone :)))
ReplyDeleteYou're giving my far too much undeserved credit. Thanks though lol
ReplyDeleteFull Lyric/Kavalier/Dramatic? Baritones are VERY tricky. I mean, I'm familiar with most of those terms & their characteristics. Assuming they translate over to the male voices, relatively the same qualities.
Full Lyric Brt: Fuller Voice, thick, Medium size, with the heights of a Lyric (up to B4 possibly even higher, depends) & the lower extremes. The timbre somewhat brighter but still warm. Ex: Jesse L Martin from Rent (listen to I'll Cover You reprise-movie scene)
Dramatic Brt: EXTREMELY rich & FULL tone, massive weight, dark timbre, large sound that's stretched in both the lower (especially lower) and upper (overwhelming) extremes. An extremely slicing quality. They have tons of squillo. Ex: Robert McFarland
Kavalier (Spinto) Brt: Should be able to reach the heights of a Tenor (up to like B4) & have a very moderate timbre. While somewhat dark, not too dark. It'd be similar to Tom Jone's timbre. Their voices are somewhat heavy (not too heavy) & they can handle voluminous, dramatic-like passages. Their range should be around G#2-B4 & should have an equal distribution of GREAT volume throughout the range. Ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E24UhtPLqWY
Peabo? Yes. And that quality? I SUCK at explaining, obviously lol, but an example would be to listen to Patti L as she has the quality to her voice. Listen to her song you are my friend (studio) around 2:50 onward & listen to the quality of the belted. But, a person I believe who can probably give a better explanation on it would be Montrez.
Baritones, I'm not sure about. Like I said, very tricky. They come in many colours.
hahahahaahahah Mariah can sing live all the songs in the world, in a minute, U f-hoe. Mariah lips, WE ALL KNOW THAT, but not as much as Celine - The Lip syncing QUEEN. That bitch is over and done. I"M LOL just to read that you REALLY think she's good just by what she did in the toilet... hahahahahahaha I'm glad that she performed that song in the toilet, cuz we all know that this song stinks like shit. hahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Not that I agree with Luiz or anything (regarding Celine), but how did Mariah run into trouble in the second line? It was a perfectly controlled transition from chest to her airy, falsetto-like register.
ReplyDeleteCeline has always been a skinny crazy bitch :P she's endearing though
ReplyDeleteHer version of 'Please Come Home for Christmas (Bells Will Be Ringing) is amazing. I would be home that second if she sung it to me.
ReplyDeleteYou need to sit the fuck down, this is obviously not an original idea, and Mariah wasn't the first to do that either, but nothing is a 100% original in this industry. And I don't know why you feel the need to talk shit about her, she has done a lot for this industry while you are just in front of your computer doing nothing productive, so get a life!
ReplyDeleteI just threw this together :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LNz8aRqIwk&feature=youtu.be
I dunno I know technically she is better than many singers, but I never got into her voice. Even though I heard the titanic song a billion times in my child hood.
ReplyDeleteHer voice is somehow very thin and does not project without spreading or sounding nasal like she's phrasing gna, gno, gne all the time.
I love Mariah too (my favorite), but come on...
ReplyDeleteMariah is not at her best due to her vocal nodes, and Celine's voice is still in tip top shape...
You can't say or prove she can't sing anymore, because she has sung live and there is proof to this, and her voice is still healthy actually.
Among the trio, Mariah, Whitney, Celine. Celine was the only one who was able to preserve her voice. Whitney did drugs lost her voice, and Mariah had health issues with her voice.
At the iTunes festival her performance was amazing. Sure she lacked adequate stage presence but she was on pitch and polished, that is aside from the artistically placed shifts and whimpers. She demonstrated amazing abilities during million dollar man. All in all it was a powerful and brand new lana that performed on stage. She clearly can sing.
ReplyDeleteBy needing to go into that "airy falsetto-like register".
ReplyDeleteIt a B6 xD.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't count to her range, but if she can scream like that without doubt she can do higher notes than A5.
Gaga mentioned once on an interview that she did a E♭ when she was
ReplyDeletesinging for the first time to her voice coach, and also said that she
can do it better nowadays.
But she didn't mention if it was a soprano E♭ (E♭6) or a Belted E♭ (E♭5). If a E♭6, it would be amazing to see her covering Ain't No Way.
How is that running into trouble? You're assuming that she needed to switch registers rather than it being a choice based on her preferences, and that singing in her airy voice is inherently easier than doing a low belt.
ReplyDeleteShe is neither a contralto nor a Mezzo. The lower register is somewhat airy, lacks richness in the mid belts. She's got a high tessitura & is able to sing in the Soprano tessiutra and hit those notes with accuracy, like a Soprano should. I think she's just a darker Lyric Soprano. Gorgeous timbre, which is arguably the reason people are easy to say she's a Mezzo. But I think she's a Soprano. The voice blooms in the higher region, which is where she has the most resonance. That's indicative of Lyric. As for the voice type as a whole? The lower register & mid register don't really reflect that of a Mezzo.
ReplyDeleteOh pu-lease! Who are you kidding? Oh yeah right...all the little lost lambs.
ReplyDeleteIt's very clear this "airy" voice is no artistic choice but pure necessity for Mariah.
And I most certainly do not think it's generally easier at all. I believe it takes a great deal of control to do that well and a skill many underestimate blinded as they are into thinking flashy belting and runs are the height of skill. (which is why I say Alison Krauss is the master at that and greatly admire her work).
But I think for Mariah with her vocal issues, it is what she does because she cannot do what she would likely choose to do if she didn't have the nodules.
So yeah, through basically no fault off her own (other than that she makes the choice not to have the problem surgically fixed. Which I totally get because it would scare the hell out of me too) comparetively..she ran into trouble there and had to change to that "airy" voice.
I get your point about how her nodules force her to rely on these airy vocals more, but not every instance of her using them is due to necessity.
ReplyDeleteI think its more often an artistic choice, due to her oft-ignored but consistent use of her airy voice during the first 6 years of her career, where her vocal performances were hardly ever hampered by her nodules. Songs like Can't Let Go from 1991 and Musicbox in 1993 show extensive use of this technique, and she has frequently expressed her belief that it adds an extra dimension to her sound, beyond her trademark belting and whistling.
Of course I'm aware that she also uses it as a crutch when she is unable to belt, but her controlled transition in this example leads me to believe that in this specific case, it was intentional and not a result of her running out of breath or it being out of her belting range.
You have a point because a mezzo with the same vocal color generally has a a bit of a more full lower register. I never really thought of her as truly a contralto and always believed she was a mezzo but what you said about her lower register could mean she's just a lower set soprano with darker color most. I don't like her voice much so I won't be diving into her music any time soon. LOL.
ReplyDeleteFirst off all, sorry if it was a bit harsh to you. I sort of automatically assumed I was dealing with one of her stans. Seeing as you came into my needling Luiz's his stanning. My apologies.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...I guess either is possible and we can't look in her head. I am just saying how I viewed it. But put it harshly because Luiz is so annoying the way he stans for Mariah by trying to put other singers down in very lazy and unimaginative name calling and being completely blind when it comes to Mariah's true abilities today.
But I in truth Mariah has a beautiful tone. Always did, still has and I personally am still totally loving "Beautiful" for instance. Still amazed that wasn't THE hit of the summer. It should have been imo.
I do have some points of criticism on Mariah but I would not be pointing them out so harshly and so often if it wasn't for that troll/stan.
What was the interview ?
ReplyDeleteher range as improved bit, so she has 3 octave now
ReplyDeletewould like to know what interview too
ReplyDeleteYah, Contralto is way out of the question. There's no androgynous tone there. The timbre? Dark & creamy but still very girly. And the way she can hit those F#5s & that one G#5 with that accuracy & colour, which was bright? That seems very Soprano-like to me. I think there is a possibility of her being a Lyric Mezzo, POSSIBLY; It's just that I made that analysis solely based on the video. Perhaps there's more to her lower register & mid belts in general. I'm not sure 'cause I'm not as familiar with her voice or her work. But yup, going off of that video, she's demonstrated attributes intrinsic to that of a Soprano. & You don't like her Voice? What about it don't you like? I'm in love with her timbre. In fact, if she was a guy, she'd possibly be your equivalent (in terms of timbre) lol
ReplyDeleteIndeed a Contralto? LOL! Not at all. She's unquestionably a Mezzo Soprano. Anyway, she's got a lovely voice. I really loved a lot of her older stuff. She's got such a soulful, bluesy voice. In my opinion, her voice is at its finest in that area. She's decent in pop also.
ReplyDeleteI guess she's like those dark tenors who sound like a baritone until they start belting. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMitchell Perry found this one. Thanks Mitchell! Great find imo
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93CZ6oFR8Q0
Do one for miss Koda Kumi. She has 4 octaves
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NexuLqS7Ez4
Merry Christmas and Merry Christmas II you are both amazing!
ReplyDeleteI agree. But I'm loving her renditions of all the classics on that christmas album William. It's just that this is my favorite. One reason being because I love the song itself anyway.
ReplyDeleteShe belted a G5 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0nY7FuA8AE
ReplyDeleteHer tone has become less nasal, gets proof in this following video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93CZ6oFR8Q0
you can't base her range off her "studio voice" because it's completely manufactured. Her vocal range should be guessed off her live performances.
ReplyDeleteI agree all are amazing :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swDaYvrvy8o you guys should see this
ReplyDeleteLOL Awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd nobody had to spot her that En Vogue line either. ;-)
No sweetie, I think she is good because I have heard her since back when she sang in the Eurovision songcontest... live, when she Wowed me in Taratata..Live and every other time I hear her sing live or on her albums.
ReplyDeleteWell it didn't sounded like she was speaking to me, but it was more like she was messing around and trying to sing like a guy... (i could agree that it was weak)
ReplyDeleteBut I don't know, it does sound similar to other Bb2 notes like that one in the start of Liberty Walk, and the one at the end of Finally(Brandy's song), even the C#3 note in Neon Lights and those are sung, not spoken notes, right?
But then again, i'm not so good on this yet so if you or anyone else could explain me the difference? and why is selena's Bb2 note considered a spoken note? I would really appreciate it
It's almost spoken because she was messing around, right? I really don't mean to depreciate her voice or something like that. She should work more on her low register through vocal fry to lesser the breathy vocals (and people still say she's an alto or a contralto). In my opinion, she will never develop her voice if she keeps using eletronic devices to improve her voice on studio. I know that she can go beyond her capacities if she trains, such as developing a more extense vocal range, work on all registers of her voice, projection (especially chest voice). I beg to god that she knows where her flaws is. Everybody can improve, she just has to want to.
ReplyDeleteSome people say that she is a mezzo-soprano, others say she is a contralto when she's neither both of them. She possesses a special type of voice called dugazon, where the singer has the ability to sing excepcionally solid and strong low notes and possessing girly, childish high notes (you can hear these both register in Off To The Races, Radio...). Another clear example is Michele Williams.
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't even near a A5 there. The apex of this note is a E5.
ReplyDeleteDD, this profile def needs an update. I can help with it posting some cons and pros if you desire.
ReplyDeleteShe actually sings very well, I seen many live performances and I actually think she is a very good singer...
ReplyDeleteyes, most certainly. Park Ji Min was AWESOME. That F#5 in Girls Generation uhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteNikki is a Soubrette, her voice has a child like quality that doesn't carry the mature weight of a full mezzo voice. the chest voice is thin as Diva Devotee says. lacking aggressive tone. the voice is still lower than a Lyric Soprano yet resonates slightly higher than a Mezzo-soprano. it's interesting that her voice never developed from a Soubrette. even though a soubrette is still considered apart of the Soprano family of voices
ReplyDeleteokay if that's what you think.
ReplyDeleteWow...okay...she got nodes when she was 8. So I think it's more due to the fact that she overused her voice as a kid, and then developed nodes and had to sing around them. Her 'natural' voice, the voice that has the most power and real resonance is by far in a way a soprano voice - if you actually hear her use head voice instead of her belt, she easily sings up to high Cs and Ds without the use of whistle tone. Her low range, though somewhat impressive, loses actual power and is simply powered by the mic anywhere below an F or an E. Were she operatically trained, and has the nodules not affected her voice at such an early age, she would have a been a lyric soprano, possibly a coloratura given her natural ability towards flexible singing.
ReplyDeletei really love Michael Jackson voice whether its high or low.it's a good way to practice your range, trying to figure where your place is and also practicing the vibrato at times.his voice is amazing for a man.
ReplyDeleteEthan vocal nodes are not a born disease. You develop it by vocal mistreatment and abuse. The fibers in the vocal fold develop and harden.
ReplyDeleteYou don't just wake up one day and get vocal nodes,
It has beens studied and proven that vocal nodes in statistic numbers develop predominantly in women 20-50 years old. And most people who do get this are singers, and this is also a scientific proven study.
It is highly unlikely she had nodes at 8 unless she had baby colic which is quite rare. Nor has she mentioned that in her 20 plus years.
When was it ever confirmed that she got her nodes at a specific age? The most shes ever really talked about it was when she said she's had them "her whole life" and that her doctor said she sings "Differently from other people".
ReplyDeleteBut in some rare cases, vocal nodules and polyps CAN appear even with very minimal use or very adequite technique. Look at Julie Andrews. One of the most beautiful voices ever, and excellent technicality-yet she still managed to achieve nodules.
ReplyDeleteShe (Julie) developed nodes in her later years, and has been singing and doing broadway and musicals most of the time till then.
ReplyDeleteBroadway singing is described in momentary belting accompanied by talking and stage acting (voice expressions), voice projection, and other various broadway techniques that can be unhealthy for the voice.
Without proper rest and rehabilitation even singers like Mariah and Julie can get them. Classic training still does not mean you learn proper vocal pedagogy.
While singer like xtina with bad technique does not sing often and goes on hiatus for a long time, can still keep her/his voice without polyps and nodes, I don't know for how long tho.
But abusing your voice is not just the technical flaws but lifestyle and other factors.
Mariah does drink alcohol. And alcohol dries out vocal folds and when rubbing next to each other can cause injury when not lubricated properly. And she does tighten and squeeze her folds as she belts which is technically not proper. And whispering while singing is also considered technically improper vocally. I can name you many factors but the fact is she is not 100 percent technically correct singer, And has caused her nodes due to them. But she is my favorite regardless.
The fact that you believe that simple expressions and Projections can be harmful to the voice (to the extent of inducing nodules) completely astounds me. If thats true than Pavarotti would have achieved several hundred vocal polyps and the vowels in the English language would cause severe damage to everyones vocal folds! and please. Mariah knows how to properly rest and treat her voice (for the most part). She is after all the Honey and Tea/weeks without speaking/has an entire steam room dedicated to resting her voice lady. All I mentioned was Julie so I dont see why you brought up Mariahs drinking habits...
ReplyDeleteWell whatever she is, she's a horrible live singer. I've seen it for myself.
ReplyDeleteI may be a Mariah fan, but I try to be objective if I can be. Celine...well, her low range is completely useless below G3, but then, she's a soprano, so that's not surprising.
ReplyDeleteHer belting is good until about G5, where it gets too influenced by head voice - nevertheless, the technique used to achieve her belted range is very good.
I would love to be able to judge her head voice, but she's only ever sung in falsetto when she's just trying to do a 'high note'.
Her accuracy when hitting notes is actually quite enviable - she rarely ever wavers off her centre of pitch. Every run I've ever heard her execute is done with pinpoint accuracy, and her projection, though nasal at times, has excellent slicing and piercing qualities associated with lyric sopranos.
Technique - well, Celine's a special case. Most artists (Aretha, Patti, Mariah, Julie Andrews, etc.) tend to have already developed their technique to to the fullest when they start their careers. Celine is unusual in that her technique only fully developed in the 2000s, well after the peak of her career. Where there was once strain in some of her belted notes, now there's only a well-produced mix. Where her low notes used to be foggy, now at least they're clear, if quiet. Celine's technique was only alright in the 90s - her 'big' note (All By Myself) was strained to death in the studio. It wasn't horrifying, but it wasn't stellar. Nowadays, her tech is phenomenal, with rarely even a hint of tension, strain, or fatigue, even in a 2 hour show.
Emotionally, I think Celine does a pretty good job connecting to her material. Sometimes, you can tell that she's focused more on the technique and approach than the song, but for the most part, she does well, especially if she's singing in French, as that seems to be closer to her heart.
Voice types are defined by a few things - voice weight, placement/colour, and tessitura.
ReplyDeleteCeline sings her best (and her easiest) when she's between D4 and A5, sometimes even higher. This gives her the tessitura of a soprano straight out. You'll notice, also, that when she reached for notes below G3, they tend to be only variable in quality at best, and don't have that full, rounded quality that even a light mezzo has at that range (e.g. Beyonce).
Her placement is bright and slicing, with the largest sound production being found above B4. She doesn't have any natural darkness to her voice, though can sometimes achieve it when she sings low and husky, however, that isn't part of her natural, easily accessed voice.
Her voice weight is light, but not terribly light. Her voice can get brassy when it's at its loudest, and has the ability to be full and powerful, though still bright and piercing. I'd call her a full-lyric in terms of vocal weight - a real spinto soprano would be someone like Whitney Houston (in her prime), who usually sang pretty lyrically, but could get some terrifyingly big sounds when she wanted.
Overall, that would make Celine a full-lyric soprano with a light tone and voice colour.
It just like picking a perfume with the same brand and kind but the other one might the flanker one. One is more sensual and thick scent and the other one is light and airy. Though both of the juice is got their own fan.
ReplyDeleteBeyonce is the extreme type of perfume I guess.

ReplyDeleteBeyonce is the extreme type of perfume I guess.
Tarja did not have opera training. She studied in church music and art song as a soloist. So don't throw ludicrous statements out there.
ReplyDelete0:50 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDOxg-pq0jo
ReplyDeleteColoratura Contralto ... :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat's a dynamic soprano? :)
ReplyDeleteThe song 'Drive' from her new album is simply amazing. Very unconventional, yet so powerful. Kind of addicted to that song at the moment.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQRb4u5DdQw
Besides that, her parts in the song 'Real and true' (especially towards the ending) are also very good. The song itself is kind of ruined by that idiot of a rapper Future, but yeah, it's still worth mentioning.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJBHdKBOdcw
Her live cover of 'Summertime sadness' definitely contains some super good low notes, so that's probably worth checking out too. I'm kind of positive you already knew about this live performance, but anyway, just putting it out there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93CZ6oFR8Q0
A lot of people also really like the song 'FU' apparently. Haven't given it a thorough listen yet, but maybe that's worth a look at too.
Anybody who says she's a terrible vocalist should really start listening to her a little bit more btw. She's not in the league of Barbra Streisand - but the girl can sing.
Just saw that you already put the Lana Del Rey cover up after I posted my post. I'm such an idiot.
ReplyDelete"COLEMAN" IS A FAKE! LOOL ! (yourSoSad)

XXXx MWAH XX!
He's a solid tenor with a higher vocal comfort zone. I'm not really a fan of his technique or the sound of his voice in general, but when he sticks strictly in his comfort zone he sounds pretty decent; even in acoustic settings. The thing that's interesting about Justin's voice is that it has a really androgynous range, even after puberty.
ReplyDeleteDoes she use whistle live? if not i would put that as a negative
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for that new album lol
ReplyDeleteHaha, no problem dude! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, so I think his vocal type is a tenor?
ReplyDeleteHi. Can you do an update on Miley Cyrus's vocals. It is fairly basic for this page.
ReplyDeleteNoooo, definitely a mezzo.
ReplyDeleteGuessing Jazmine is numero uno. Lol
ReplyDeleteLol, Maybeeeeeeeeeee.
ReplyDeleteShe is not a contralto. She is a mezzo soprano.
ReplyDeleteNo she is not a contralto. She is mezzo. Having a disconnect head voice is not a matter of vocal classification for contraltos, many Mezzos like Jennifer Hudson have weak or underutilized head voices to. I am a contralto, And Alicia aka pink is not.
ReplyDeleteHer speaking voice is midrange just like her singing voice. Compare her with true contraltos like Cher or Nina Simone. There are differences in weight, and other vocal fachs.
ReplyDeleteThey are not really low mezzos, The weight of their voice just gives that impression, but if you sing their songs you would realize how not so low their voices are if you are a contralto like me.
ReplyDeleteHer comfort is in her mid range. Most of her songs are sung in midrange.
ReplyDeleteShe can't even utilize her head voice well enough or go trough different passages to be a coloratura.
ReplyDeleteI also hear lyric mezzo, not soprano...
ReplyDeleteshe is truly is an artist who knows how to use her instrument. i adore her music so much.
ReplyDeleteher voice is heaven to my ears. i can buy an entire album just full of her head voice and falsetto notes, they are all just angelic! one of he best i have ever heard in my entire life. some of them give me chills.
so grateful that somebody is producing music like this in times like these.
Oh, really? I can't, I'd sooner shit my pants in the process. :D
ReplyDeleteshe didn't really suck at some live, I don't know what happen with her, i think she sing live pretty well before she gets famous.

ReplyDeleteI think she's improved a lot
I guess he can enter it if he was trained more 😌
ReplyDeleteExcuse me Chris colfer sings way better than you will ever do so if u don't have anything good to say about him so cut the crap Bro ur just jealous that when u hit puberty ur voice dropped unlike his 😂 hater and any one can tell ur jealous.
ReplyDeleteChris colfer is more or less a high mezzo not an alto yes most countertenor s are classified as altos but Chris is just too high and bright voiced for am alto 😊
ReplyDeleteTone, proper support, projection, and musicality mean FAR more than range.
ReplyDeleteI believe she uses the two octaves in her upper register the most but she can reach unfairly low notes (and I am a baritone...) so it is at least four octaves. Those 2 octaves can certainly be her tessitura, the range in which she feels the most comfortable. Just so you know, 6 or 7 would be almost impossible for anyone to reach. The myth was created around Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera, saying they had 8-octave ranges. What they have is outstanding ranges with a command of all notes that most singers can't achieve. Not even Kesha with auto-tune :). But consider this: the octave is measured from let's say A1 to A2, a full string of notes that will take you from whatever note, to the one of the same frequency next to it. The usual piano has 9 at most, so 6 or 7 would mean almost the entire keyboard. The myth should be debunked. If you check, Christina has 4 octaves and Mariah has 5 octaves and 2 notes. Her range is amazing, but it is a one of a kind thing.
ReplyDelete3 octaves is actually A LOT when one considers it is a well connected, well supported sound. Her upper register actually goes up to G6, but she has actually sung-sung up to D6 in a live performance, in a fully connected head voice - not falsetto or whistle.
ReplyDeleteI think her lower register is her weaker spot, as tends to happen to a lyric soprano, but between A3-D6 her voice is fantastic, and that's a very good range for a lyric soprano.
I watched this video. This was REALLY good! I definitely hear the similar tones but she sounds REALLY GOOD. I'd say one step below Whitney.
