Adele's First Vocal Performance of 2012, After Surgery. But Has Her Voice Recovered? Listen and Judge For Yourself

Thank the heavens, Adele's voice is back! After the trauma it had been through last year [read more] and the vocal chord surgery, I was worried it would go the way of Julie Andrews', and come back a damaged instrument! Thankfully, this hasn't happened. Listen below!

On American Show, 60 Minutes, Adele gave host Anderson Cooper- the lucky git-an impromptu a capella rendition of her world wide smash hit, Rolling In the Deep.

It sounds like the "curtain" that Adele spoke of covering her voice since the vocal cord haemorrhage has finally been lifted, revealing that the clarity, tone and power is back, all without the hoarseness that dogged it for most of last year.  Give that surgeon a gold star!

  1. Do you agree with the "probably the best voice of her generation" comment?

  2. I do (to an extent) but this performance for me sounds like she has really laid back on her vocal slice...but I am guessing for her vocal health thats deliberate! However I still love her, her music and more importantly her voice ;)

  3. I think that the best voice of her generation comment is a bit of a stretch but I am falling in love with the new clarity that is within the voice! Adele better take good care of those pipes because they are beautiful.

  4. I agree with you too dude, my pref for 'voice of our generation' goes automatically to Kelly Clarkson! But Adele has a better musicianship package I must admit.

  5. @c4af24fdb1fddcd49f54026caffa848e @27b2bd7a4c159e39c46fc2a91d1a9ae8 @9a4eee81852add92cebf54af32f78132  I love adele, but I think that statement is a little, shall we say, dramatic at this point in time. Lets give her a few more albums before we go there. lol.
It is certainly one of the best voices out there this generation, but at times i feel its missing a little something, that I can't quite put my finger on, to really make it the best.

I think Stuey is right when saying its more the combination of the voice and the song writing that makes Adele special.

  6. shes not taking care of it
she was spotted smoking a few weeks after the surgery =(
idk i guess she cant be perfect and we just have to hope for the best
    and i agree with diva...
i dont really think its her voice that is lacking but i think its her songs and her genre
shes very restricted to what she can sing because her voice is so distinct
i mean i love her but i think she will have a hard time finding ways to make songs that arent so predictable

  7. i think the voice of this generation is subjective
and the "voice of our generation" comment the lady made might ruffle some feathers but adele is great nonetheless

  8. What she lacks is versatility, she can't keep on singing the same soul-ish songs, she needs to try something different, other genres. I think she's amazing but she needs more effor to have the title of the best voice of this generation. I agree with someone below, the best voice for me now is Kelly Clarkson, and Leona Lewis in the second place (despite she lacks versatility too).

  9. may I ask politely what you mean with lack of versatility?
Didn't she win her first award as a jazz musican (Urban Music Awards, ever heard of my same).
If I recall right, the first comments of her TV debut (Daydreamer) was: she is the second Joni Mitchell?
Didn't she sang Need You in front of Lady Antebellum?
    What versatility do you want?

  10. Her surgeon is a famous doctor in the Boston area that has operated on a bunch of celebrities like Steven Tyler and Cher, etc. They are doing a segment on him on our local Boston TV news station (WBZ news) after the grammys this weekend and I think he will discuss all his surgeries, including Adele's. I'm going to try and remember to stay tuned and watch after the Grammy's.

and I laugh hard when I see people saying she has the best voice of our generation, this is overrated yes.

  13. She can't sing pop or dance music. She has no versatility in those types of music.

and in depth information you offer. It's good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn't

  16. I believe everything wrote made a great deal of sense.
But, consider this, what if you composed a catchier title?
I mean, I don't wish to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added a headline that makes people desire more? I mean "Adele's
First Vocal Performance of 2012, After Surgery.
But Has Her Voice Recovered? Listen and Judge For Yourself" is kinda boring. You might glance at Yahoo's front page and watch how they write news titles to grab people to open the links. You might add a related video or a pic or two to get people excited about everything've got to say. Just my opinion, it would make your posts a little bit more interesting.
