[New Music ]Lana Del Rey & Bobby Womack, "DayGlo Reflection"

Lana Del Rey continues to infuriate detractors by getting to not only work with some of the coolest people in music-in this case Bobby Womack- but also manages to gain praise from those collaborators too.

Speaking of his experience recording with Lana Del Rey on song DayGlo Reflection, Bobby Womack had this to say, "She's one of a kind. I've never sung with a girl like that before." High praise indeed from someone who has been in the industry so long.

The chilled out DayGlo Reflection is taken from Bobby Womacks' first album in 18 years, The Bravest Man In The Universe, which is released June 11. Take a listen below.

  4. Lana sure likes her swooping portamento. I like this collaboration more than I've heard her on other stuff though.

  5. This...is amazing. Her voice and his just blended so greatly with the music. I don't care of she gets pitchy live she is an amazing studio artist. Actually i don't really have an issue with a studio singer as long as they don't brag about their vocals. Lana seems very modest and seems to present herself more so as a studio performer rather than a live one and to me there is nothing wrong with that.

  6. It's amazing how versatile Lana is. She also did this collaboration that is more hip hop and she sounds great on it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aysUREHOo0

  7. I don't like Lana's voice. She sounds like someone mumbling in the midst of a stroke imo. I do happen to like the song "Dark Paradise", and this song isn't so bad either.

  13.  Thanks. I've been looking to and will post it if I find it first. :)
So far the only thing I could find was a line describing the album as Womacks first "of original material in 18 years".
I posted the question on his facebook band page. Perhaps we'll get a definitive answer there. ( did that once regarding a song by The Civil Wars and they got back with the answer the very next day. Same deal with Sarah Jarosz regarding an instrument)

  18. Massively underrated for what she is actually capable of! I love her big style and to be honest I think too many people have been quick to jump on her when she has flaked it a couple of times.

Lets remember she is not only new to the scene but trying to find her vocal niche, its commendable that she can take risks and sing with such beauty and also write lyrics others would never get away with!! Really want to see her live though....there is not a song on Born to Die that I dislike, an extreme rarity for someone as fussy as myself ;)

  19. Have you heard her Lizzy Grant album? Come to find out she has yet another album that just leaked under the alias May Jailer, it's called Sirens! I downloaded it but I've only heard a few of the songs. They are completely acoustic.

  20. I did, I thought it was a respectable body of work and her voice is extremely interesting! It's not often you hear someone switch up their range and play with their voice as much as she has.

Also I just love the cinematic sound she goes for, its so refreshing! Will totally be checking out her other acoustic stuff though, I know she can hold her own there!
