Lana Del Rey "Body Electric" [New Song]

What is Lana Del Rey doing debuting new music when her album, Born To Die, still has so many great songs on it that need to be released and heard by those who aren't yet converted to the cult of Del Rey! I suppose I shouldn't complain when the song in question, Body Electric, is actually really good, but still, it feels too early for new music, especially when fresh Lizzie Grant albums keep surfacing.

Performing Body Electric live at a set in the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the singer gave an assured rendition of the dark and brooding song surrounded by crazy adoring fans. In fact the whole set was vocally on point, and it supports the notion that Del Rey's live vocal ability is very much governed by how comfortable and relaxed she is when performing.

I would post all the videos from the set but trust me, the screaming fans, and the singing along- though endearing- will start to erode your sanity pretty quickly.

  1. I loved all the performances. National Anthem was soo beautiful, and it's so funny when the girl screams for Lana and someone says : "Shut up little bitch!" LOL.Body Electric is sooo good, I've heard it would be part of a re-release of Born To Die. Would love if there was a re-release. And plus, i agree it's a little early.

  2. This would explain the mention of "Body Electric" on her twitter a while back.

  3. She's still mystery to me. I simply don't know what to think about her. Is she genuine talent with personality or just nice looking girl willingly doing what producers say. There's something insincere in her album . You may say I'm stupid and know shit about music but I can't help feeling this way.
Anyway "Body Electric" sounds more like "Born To Die" out-take than brand new song.

  4. Something insincere about "Born To Die"? Maybe the fact that she wrote all the lyrics? I'd say genuine talent.

  5. A little early for new music??? I don't care!!!! Just give us new music! This song is so amazing, I can't wait to hear the studio version. And this performance proves to all the haters (I hate that word) that she CAN sing live.

  6. I noticed that too...I thought she was referencing the Walt Whitman poem.

  7. I haven't heard anything about re-releasing "Born To Die" but she is re-releasing Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant later this summer.

  9. Yeah, I don't think she's re-releasing "Born To Die". There's already a deluxe edition anyway. But she is re- releasing Lana Del Ray A.K.A Lizzy Grant but I'm not sure there are supposed to be new songs on it. This song doesn't sound like the style of the Lizzy Grant album anyway. I've heard word of a mixtape though...probably just rumors. Regardless of what album it is, I'm so glad she released this!

  10. Can't say this particular video convinces me she can really sing. I think most of it was closer to declaiming than singing. Only times it sounded a bit like singing was when she utters the refrain. And every "baby" and "crazy" she seemed to go off key at the second part of the word.

The really interesting thing here is how everybody ( including me) really WANT this girl to be able to sing. Because even if I don't hear it here, I really do hope she will convince me.
    There's something special about her.

@T "insincere" seems to me a very strange choice of word. She seems very genuine and sincere to me.

  11. You're just a hater tbh We don't hope she can sing - she IS doing it.She's a good musician that really feels her songs.

  12. Yes Stan, I am just a hater. My every word on Lana proves that.

  13. Yes, this person is the definition of "a hater". They seem to think they know everything about talent and musicianship when the odds of them even being a singer or musician are slim to none seeing as they spend most of their time commenting on posts on this site.

  14. Her music isn't my cup of tea, but she seems like a nice girl and she's really nice and appreciate of her fans.

I hope the rumors about her being on meth are untrue, but things are pointing to them being true.

  15. Oh get a grip dude. I don't like Gaga, deal with it.
If all you have by way of argument is attempts at personal insult and the fact that I supposedly am not a musician myself and therefor cannot have an opinion on music, well, to anybody with a bit of intelligence that just reads as .."dude has NO arguments"

I'll be waiting for links to you and Niki's musical efforts..ya know, so you can prove how you are way more qualified than me to judge musicians. :)

And yes, I hang on this blog alone. I don't hang on every lady Gaga mentioning blog.
And it seems I also don't take as much time as you need constructing a comment because, really dear, leaving a few comments hardly takes "most of my time".
Hope you'll manage to get through this whole comment without it taking a large chunk of your time! :)

  16. Good thing you are a real loving guy and not a "hater". Otherwise you might get into spreading rumors about people you could not possibly know the truth off. Phewww!
And thanks for that musician's insight into the music of Lana. If only I played an instrument or could sing...I too could judge a person's musical abilities by the niceness of their character.
