[Discuss] Did Lady Gaga Come Off Worse After Twitter Battle With Perez Hilton?

Gaga perez kiss

Gaga is back, so guess what, so is the controversy. After calling for love and peace between all stanbases of the world [exhibit A], the singer-songwriter decided to follow that sentiment with a shot from her avant-garde crossbow at ex-bestie Perez Hilton,  and one-time idol Madonna.  So much for creating harmony amongst fans! [Exhibit B]

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Well, as Madonna was too busy not giving a crap celebrating her 55th birthday, it was left to Perez Hilton to bite back. And boy did he go in on Gaga- but surprisingly only after she further accused the blogger of being a stalker for daring to view an apartment in her block!! [Exhibit C]

[Exhibit C]

Being accused of a criminal offence was clearly a step too far, and Perez took to his blog to clarify the situation:

I have long had plans to return to New York City more permanently. New York was my home for 6 years in the mid 90s, before I moved to Los Angeles. I also lived here for 3 months last year while doing an off Broadway show. I’m a new father and I am primarily focused on my family and where we will be most happy. I love New York and that is where me and my growing family want to call home right now. Sunday, my realtor showed us a list of possible apartments to rent. I learned only after the fact that Lady GaGa lives in one of the buildings we looked at, and she was across the country in Los Angeles when I viewed that building.

After a day of innocent house-hunting, I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my “wifey” and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter. While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a “stalker”. Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger. I will continue to be a critic – in a way that is not mean or involves name-calling, and I will continue to have an opinion and talk about music and songs, like GaGa’s “Applause”.

I hope her fans stop sending me death threats, as the suggestion that I pose a danger to Lady GaGa is preposterous. If her fans want to send a message of support to Lady GaGa, they should buy her music. Notwithstanding my feelings about our personal relationship, I do wish Lady GaGa happiness and continued success and I assure you my family house hunting has nothing to do with her.

It was a strangely classy response from the often bitchy critic- he's supposedly "reformed" now since his child was born. Anywho, I'm assuming Gaga didn't like how she was coming off in this exchange of words so decided to tweet some more [Exhibit D]. Always a good idea....

[Exhibit D]
Perez followed her lead and took the battle to real-time, tweeting some supposed home truths at the Diva. "Truths" that didn't do anything to improve Gaga's standing. In fact they only smeared her name further. [Exhibit E]

[Exhibit E]

If Gaga had any sense she would have quit at this point, but she couldn't resist having one last dig. Unfortunately for her it led to Perez saying, very publicly, what we were all pretty much thinking: this was all being done for publicity and new single Applause.Ouch.

So was this tête à tête an elaborate publicity campaign dreamt up by the pair to pull focus onto themselves? I don't think so. A few years back I would have believed that, but Gaga's use of Madonna in the instigating tweet was totally unnecessary for a planned attack; not to mention it risked another battle with Mumm-Ra herself. The whole thing reads more like a Diva frustrated with her plans being changed by a leak and the subsequent lukewarm reaction her comeback single got from consumers- especially when compared to Katy Perry's Roar.

I think Gaga was banking on the sympathy generated from the implication that she had been bullied translating into sales. Instead the spat probably had the opposite effect, turning more people off of her. It's a shame really, because this ARTPOP era began on a positive note. At least she eventually had the decency to get her Monsters under heel after being made aware of the nasty things they were sending Perez- he smartly retweeted those messages to her! This was the damage control message she left on her fan webpage;

I know how angry you feel sometimes, and I know that when they say things about me you feel that they are saying them about you as well. But music is about love, and is about sharing in the magic of theatre. Although pop culture and society have become more negative and critical of the artist over the years, by engaging in this negativity
you are allowing it to spread.

I ask you to take a pledge with me to continue the change toward
positivity, and to recognize that this behavior is wrong. We are stronger than this. We know what we stand for, and what we stand for is bravery. I know this because what I see on the internet is not what
I see at my shows. People deal with their insecurities in many
different ways. The anonymous nature of social media has made it easy for many to vent their anger by bullying others with no recourse or
accountability. But this is not a healthy way to handle your emotions.

Too little to late? I think maybe. But what about  you guys? What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe Gaga isn't as nice as her public image suggests, or do you think Perez was talking grade-A bull?

I believe that she is as nice as she presents, sure she may have done less or more bad things in her life to get to the position she is in now, but i feel like she is a good person and her sympathies are genuine. But Perez, she has nothing better to do than this ??

  2. gaga is definitely not who she appears to be, look at interviews in early 2009 an how shes so nice and sweet but by the end of 2010 she insists on wearing sunglasses during interviews (very rude) and talking differently. lady gaga is a character not a real person and i think the real gaga is just trying to fit in and be successful even if it means being blonde, brunette, pop, jazz or techno (make dat money).

on the perez thing, this man is a ham to use a term (face like a ham, hammy attitude), he seems overly attached to celebrities when he befriends them and looking back at when gaga liked him he would go on and on and on and on about how he gave her a chance to be famous early on and how they are #bff's4lyf , the way i see it gaga liked him but couldn't give him the me me me attention he required so they fought and nasty things were said and done. this is not all gaga tho, he has it out for kesha and nicki minaj also and there was that whole "i got punched in the face by a rapper" thing that happened.

there both as bad as each other but at least gaga can sing.

    nicki minaj talking about perez....

  3. Gaga can be however she wants to be. Nobody is the same their entire lives. As for Perez I cant believe he still has a fanbase. His fans are nothing but little children and he is a hateful and spiteful and he picks fights with practically everyone that can gain him more fame. He always starts these things and then takes the defensive side to look good. In reality it makes him look pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Perez also went off calling Gaga an addict, saying how you can't talk reason with addicts. Also Gaga didn't accuse Perez of stalking her, I happened to be on twitter when all of this was going on. A certain gaga fan was sending messages to Gaga saying Perez was in the complex, and had been escorted off because he is not allowed to be there? Apparently gaga wasn't aware of his presence until the fan informed her, and once checking with security she was told that he had been there.

I'm just going to shrug my shoulders and say "I don't care", because I don't.
Perez won't garner much sympathy from me, I find him a vile hypocrite, though I do feel some sort of sympathy over the fact that fans are threatening his son. Threatening a child's life is SICK.

I've heard that some people she worked with or something said that Stefani no longer exists and Gaga is that person there, that Gaga is Gaga all the time, i think she claimed that too, maybe she just suffers some kind of mental disorder LOL. Of course she changed in 2010, she grows as person and her talking got more "adult" + sunglasses are just fashion choise. My problem is that i am way too honest person and i tend to be naive, i think that why wouldn't i believe her words, why would she lie to us ? Things she said always sounded honest to me, but then all of u say that money is behind everything and all of them are liars, i can't get it because i don't understand how can they lie so much and pretend so much. I wouldn't be able to live like that.

But again, Gaga has nothing to do with threatening, that's all those crazy fans.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not entirely sure. Apparently Perez wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. So I don't really know the details. There very well could be more to the story.

Perez is still a shitty human being though. He apparently posted underage pictures of Miley cyrus on his site.

  8. I live in Spain, have no twitter and no time to check any gossip blog, so could anyone explain me who this Perez Hilton is? I don't really know about him, but he seemed to have a point when he said that Gaga was using this to get publicity (I'm not defending him, though)

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think they are both just trying to gain publicity.
I also feel this behavior of Gaga is exactly one of the reasons I so dislike her.
She jumps right in there with both feet and then tries to play the sympathy card.

But worse than that, she clearly is deliberately mobilizing her army of nitwits with this " victimized" crap. ugh. And I cannot say that enough, that message on her fan webpage...UGH!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. All I deduced from this mess is that my dislike for Perez Hilton increases everyday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Lady Gaga seems to be experiencing the usual fall from grace that bestows any pop star after period of general public and media saturation. Unfortunately for her the timing of her spat with Perez comes during a song promotion as is seen as just a marketing ploy.

Gaga is about to join a long list of pop stars who have fallen out of public favour, Cheryl Cole, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, etc etc As has been the case with many pop stars over the years she has become another Perez Hilton target.

Perez Hilton has a long history of helping to tear down pop stars. Britney Spears during her public meltdown phase was one such target. He leaked Blackout, which he got sued for the privilege. He wrote many an unkind word against Britney the difference is she never retaliated, she even went so far as to include him in the Circus tour? I used to think Britney was above all this hence why she allowed him on her tour and never commented on his attitude about her. But it would appear from her current public persona she does not have the capacity to retaliate nor is susceptible to him due to her controlled environment.

So I applaud Lady Gaga (no pun intended) for taking a stand against this disgusting human being, who is a major hypocrite. He has been forced to do a u-turn on his deplorable behaviour in recent years as he was seen as a figure who promoted bullying. Lets not forget he outted Neil Patric Harris, called Beyonce Beowulf and gave Lily Allen an eating disorder due his constant jibes over her weight.

So no Diva I don't agree at all with the way you have wrote you article as a Pro Perez Hilton piece. Gaga is the first pop star who has publicly defended herself against this vicious scumbag, and its about time too. The only sad thing is by doing so she validates his being, that is not something Perez Hilton deserves.

Perez is a horrible human being. But Lady Gaga is showing herself to be a horrible human being on her own.

Perez did a lot of horrible shit to a lot of celebrities, and I wouldn't be surprised if he kept doing those stuff... Even pointing out what career Gaga tried to destroy (https://twitter.com/PerezHilton/statuses/369587087961374720) just shows he was aware of it and kept silent because it would benefit him.

Still, inciting her army of psychotic mindless fans against him, even more considering how much she works to get a certain level of semi-religious devotion from them is at least irresponsable, at the worst, dangerous. I wonder why is it not ok for Perez to be at her building searching for a new apartment if he is moving but it's ok for her fans to keep wandering around it to see who comes in and out... I would feel more threatened by the later.

And let's not forget she is accusing him of trying to kill her.

  17. Vinicius Ferreira Mendes20 August 2013 at 20:43

Aaaaw! <3 I love you too!
But Gaga was so damn smart this time, throwing someone nobody likes under the truck it's a perfect crime! People dislike Perez so much they are ignoring how absurd is everything she is doing during this fight!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, I didn't underestand everything here, but I had already supposed he was related to the gossip world xD I guess the guy doesn't impress me because here we have plenty of people like him who live by destroying other people's reputation. Now that I've read all the posts I guess I'm in Gaga's side (Although I think she was a little bit too much fussy (Not sure if that's the correct word) about him being in her neighbourhood)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I actually think that Britney's reaction was smarter than Gaga's. Getting mad for the things he sais is exactly what he's seeking for, that's what makes him famous, as one celebrity from here said "Your anger makes my fame". The best way to deal with this kind of people is just ignoring them: if no one talks about them, they disappear. Britney's reaction was just perfect: ignoring him, even being kind to him, so he looks like the bad guy and she looks like the good girl (which, in this case, was the truth).

    ReplyDelete
  20. Why don't you all take a look at this. I'm quite neutral on this, but there's something fishy about Gaga I just can't put my finger on. I think Perez might be right about her having two faces. http://blindgossip.com/?p=55997

    ReplyDelete
  21. yeah a fan on twitter tweeted gaga saying that perez was in her complex

why are people sympathetic towards perez??? isnt his whole career about blogging about how horrible people are doing about whos in rehab and about who is spiraling downward

i dont care either about this twitter spat because this is the first time gaga has ever lashed out on twitter and it must come for good reason

and i do not support anyone who is saying they are going to kill perez's son that is vile
but people in the public eye need to get over it
everyday gaga recieves death threats from all sorts of haters - it just goes with being a celebrity you pay this price for fame

first he leeches off of her for three years pretending to be her friend and now he blasts her and spreads rumours about her on his blog

    ReplyDelete
  22. dont even compare these two
gaga is a pop star who spends half her time doing philanthropic work
while perez is a gross blogger who talks shit about anyone and everyone and when someone fights back or does something he doesnt like he attacks and tries to make the other person look like they are at fault

    ReplyDelete
  23. If this isn't some type of publicity stunt, then Gaga is becoming one of those pop stars that simply exists... -_-... And I though Perez Hilton was gay...Ugh, I care to much about humanity... IDK.

    ReplyDelete
  24. HauntinglyHollow20 August 2013 at 23:45

He is not gay ? I am confused LOL

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't particularly care for Perez after his little twitter rant over Chrisitna's "Bionic" this low life gets what he deserves but I don't believe anyone should receive death threats especially if their child is in "the firing line." But we are talking about Gaga here so I"m not surprised about whatever antics Gaga pulls off to gain some attention for the new record.

    ReplyDelete
  26. He's gay. I had a slow moment over his post relating to his son.

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL Perfect crime indeed!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Really? I don't see why?
Whatever happened before, that "exhibit B" is clearly her rehashing something which happened months ago yet she tweeted that 5 days after that "peace and love" message "exhibit A"

    Totally disingenuous I'd say.

No...for me she does not come off good enough to be on her side.

Most certainly she must know her " AoN" are amongst the worst. I mean even on this blog that has been discussed a year ago. I am sure that means it has been discussed all over the place where ever that AoN descends.
And she is clearly trying to mobilize them with that "Exhibit B".

Nope, I personally could not possibly be on either side here.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm a bit disappointed with how Gaga handled this on twitter. I mean little monsters be goin' crae crae!!! All Gaga did was arm her armada and sent some of her delusional fans on a reigned rampage. I'm quite the fan of Gaga but seriously, I know for a fact she knows how volatile her fans can be and could have kept that tidbit of info on Perez to herself. I don't by her innocence at all. We have an old saying here in Georgia... "If you can't buck than don't hit."

    ReplyDelete
  30. Who wouldn't hit someone in the mouth if the person keeps verbally attacking you and they won't shut up? I'm no fan of a physical altercation but anything can happen when you're mad. Perez deserved more than a punch. I'd say a stumping and a good old Georgia dragging is more acceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Okay so now that I have had time to look back upon the incident and do my research (my first post was done in a break from class so please bear with it) my opinion hasn't changed...much. Perez has always been a swine who talks absolute crap about anyone that will garner him more attention to his blog. Having followed several people who once worked with him I think that his track list shows how dishonest he is about his work ethic among other things. Now another note. What HAS changed is how I felt about Gagas reaction with this...if she were to just stop after the first warning then I would still say she had every right to defend herself. It got to a point where she did a whole U turn and blew up. Now if she were truly the victim I think she should have just stopped and gotten security for her home if she truly felt threatened. The woman is a multibillion grammy awarded musician. She could surely afford some more security. Even with the supposed debt that her concert tour gifts upon her. Im not going to claim anything about Gagas attitude nor her personality. She can be whoever she wants to. I do not care. Its her right. Not saying that I agree with the way she dealt with anything nor any of the rumors circulating around about her lifestyle. Its just that it really means little.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What did he say about Bionic?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, I don't really know what AoN mean, but I guess you're talking about her gathering her (st)fans against him.

I meant that if a had to choose one side, it'd be Gaga's, but definetly I don't 100% agree with what she's done. I underestand that she wanted to "win the war" against Perez so he stopped picking on other stars (And to gain some publicity, of course) but the idea of calling her army of stans definetly wasn't good, and she saw that it was going out of her hands, so the best way to end it was to put a message on her website asking her stans to cool down so that way she would look like the good girl. As you can see, I'm not 100% (Not even 50% actually) in Gaga's side, but definetly I'd choose her 1000 times over that Perez.

Still, for what I've read, I think that Britney's reaction was the best of all.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm not picking a side. But Perez Hilton ALWAYS talks shit, makes up fake rumors, makes inappropriate comments about people all the time. He apologized for being a piece of shit on Ellen once, promised he was gonna change but never did. But Lady Gaga has had her fair share of rumors of people claiming she treats her team like shit, she's cocky and rude to fans and audiences, of course she's one of the top divas of the moment, so she's definitely going to have rumors about her, but with so many rumors added up, it's not hard to believe. Who fucking knows. Perez Hilton actually used to be "close friends" with Gaga, and they would use each other to promote each other's music/website, and then it seems like Perez has been hating on Gaga a lot, trashing her music, etc., since Gaga cut off communication with him or something. Honestly, I'm never going to like Perez Hilton or respect him like a real human being, I still don't think he even deserves to take care of a child. And I always get a shady feeling from Gaga, maybe it's all the rumors, whatever. But tl;dr, I can't pick a side.

Apparently not so perfect if both you and Vinicius managed to solve it... that is, if she's actually making a crime. :P

    ReplyDelete
  37. A lot of people feel that Perez is heavily responsible for the fail of Bionic and in turn Christina Aguileras career. He constantly hated on the album and called her a Lady Gaga rip off. Sales for Bionic then soon plummeted and the singer has yet to rebound from that experience. However that was when Perez had actual power so at this point i dont think anyone else has any need to worry about him ruining their careers. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's not the not being able to be solved what makes a crime perfect. It's the not being able to be punished for when yet everybody knows you did it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think that both sides have truth to them. Perez is an annoying and mean cunt who says the nastiest things but Lady Gaga is an hypocritical person and skilled mass manipulator who is not who people think she is.

  53. This is what fame does to people. Even if a person stays true to themselves, 20 million people get to see their true colors. If I get famous and ever get put in Gaga's shoes, I'd probably be a much more careful individual than she is. For one I have a habit of going eye for and eye, so revenge or pay back is a specialty of mine. I am not afraid to sleep with the dogs and wake up with fleas to get what I want. Thirdly, I'll trample over all who stand in my way. And fourthly, I will not shut my mouth (if a person asks, I'll tell, but that's as far as I'm willing to go. LOL). If my mouth ruins any attempt at fame, then chances are I probably wasn't meant to be famous. LOL

That is exactly why I love Joseline Hernandez (Though she is a much, much, much more volatile person than I am for the most part)....ROFL...

See the thing I don't like about Gaga at this point, is that she stopped being careful. When you trample over people you have to trace your steps carefully and not come off as a hypocrite when you play the innocent role. She could have made Perez look just as bad by not going to twitter. This whole "trap a fool" thing doesn't work for her. If she wants to be malevolent, she needs to plot a bit more carefully next time.

I personally can't play the innocent role too well, so I would have been a little more offensive with Mr. Perez...Probably as offensive as Will.I.Am...LMAO JK...

    LOL, shade is fun...

Most people still believe a lot of stuff Gaga probably did and do is "too much", as in "conspiracy theory". Funny enough, they believe more absurd and hard to execute rumours easily.

  56. Ricky Yong Chin Yuan22 August 2013 at 07:02

That's life, I guess. it doesn't just apply to GaGa's stuff. Lol.

  57. I will not discuss the "pretentious" thing, anything that I try to say will end on anyone calling me a stan or something similar.

But we're talking about perez hilton, look to all the bad things that he did, I just can't believe that he only learned that gaga live on the building after this.

But still I think that Gaga should have avoided all this twitter war thing, she always avoided replying perez provocations, she just gave him what he always wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I was joking on Gaga's poor attempt to throw someone under the bus. She still got caught by us. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  59. I got that part. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Brain look at this article Prez.....http://idolator.com/7479513/justice-for-bionic-christina-aguilera-lady-gaga I cant believe this???

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well, because of all this talk about Bionic, I listened to it and imo it's not very good. It seems rather disjointed as an album and most songs sound like she is trying to compete with the biggest sellers on the charts by imitating them. There were 5 songs I really liked though. Those are probably the ones you mentioned liking as well Brian. :-)
All in all I don't think it was as much Perez as the lack of quality which is responsible for the poor sales of Bionic.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Perez deserved it, so I still wouldn't care even if it is a publicity stunt. He calls himself a critic, but all of his reviews are outrageously biased and bank more on statements like "the song sucks because it sucks" or "the song sucks because the artist hates me." You really cant sink much lower than Perez.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That literally makes me want to bang my head against a brick wall.

    ReplyDelete
  64. That and the heavy media slander Christina faced after what Perez said. The constant comparisons to Madonna (whom she said she was paying tribute to) and Lady Gaga caused a massive shift in Christinas fan base. Her fan base as of now is the smallest it has been in her career...which is definitely showing in her reputation along with her music sales.

    ReplyDelete
  65. LOL Which makes one think about the fan bases of such singers.

Surely constant comparisons to Madonna don't hurt a singer? Exhibit A: Gaga.

Speaking of which, I presume when you say "and Gaga" you meant the success of Gaga?

Because if you look at the numbers...Aguilera had a huge album in 2002, a lesser but still huge follow up in 2006.

Gaga had the huge success in 2008 and the lesser but still huge second album in 2011

    Bionic was released in 2010.

(Beyonce, the other big seller of past decade or so...huge in 2003, lesser but still huge in 2006 and 2008, half as much 2011)

Personally, I tend to draw the conclusion here that all have one really huge seller, follow up sells about half and the one after that half again. (with the exception of Beyonce having two that sold half as well as the initial huge seller)

Which is similar to the progression of American Idol winners sales.

My conclusion this all being the result of a large audience not really into music as much as easily led by media hype....until the next "new" thing arrives.

All of which also makes Madonna's stats all the more interesting.

    As are Mariah's

  66. Uhmm...I do in fact recall there being a time period where both Madonna and Mariah were heavy initial commercial failures. You are forgetting that Gaga heavily promoted her album all the way until born this way was released in 2011. Her first album had massive airplay and nearly drowned out all of the competition. Christina was explicitly called a copy cat and a thief throughout her promotion for Bionic with consistent comparisons to Lady Gaga. Either way as of now Bionic is quite successful. Accumulating 4 million sales in three years isnt terrible I suppose. But during its release im very confident it was crippled by the media slander following her. You have to remember that all albums go through some sort of promotion and not all of it is just concert after concert. Christina usually used Television to promote her material, however with the rise in the internets popularity (and its usage for promotion for artists) she has been severely lacking with only her initial fanbase even being aware of her music. Lady gaga on the other hand has always used the internet to promote her work and is an expert at using it to the fullest extent (hence we come into the pr stunt argument with perez). You forget Opie that not everyone listens to music the same way and many people (as much as it hurts my soul) care more for reputation and image rather than talent and sound. "Uhh no I will not buy that album, that woman is a bitch a copy cat and a thief!" was the general response I got when I tried to make a statistic in my school of how many people actually bought bionic at the time lol. (which teenagers and young adults usually make up christinas fan base).

  67. Huh? I don't see how that is a response to my points made there.
And those links to both Madonna and Mariah's sales numbers are clear and factual.
I didn't post the links to Gag, Christina and Beyonce but just look at the same sections on Wikipedia for the sales number of the albums of those three to compare.

I did not forget many people care more for reputation and image. THAT was in fact the crux of my point with that post. :-)

  68. The ballads were very nice especially the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition. The stuff she did with Santigold, Ladytron, Sia and Peaches were very nice. I was a little sad about the up tempo tracks since the lyrical content was very sexually charged.

  69. Yes, those ballads are the ones I liked. The up tempo stuff I disliked for the same reason I generally dislike that kind of music.
Sexually charged lyrics were not an issue I personally had with them though.
Mainly it's that electronic beats give me a headache. I mean literally. I think it's because I always listen music on headphones and am used to non electronic "beats".

  70. I dont think Perez is trying to shift attention from the Gaga. I mean Perez has been comparing the sales of Katy Perrys "Roar" to Gagas "Applause." And the other day he twitted about Lordes "Royals" about how it beat Lady Gaga in the charts. He is obviously doing this out of spite. I'm not a very big Gaga fan but Perez is acting like a scum and this feud is just gotten blown out of proportion.

    ReplyDelete
  71. No, I said " to draw attention away from his own faults".
I meant his ploy to draw attention away from his own behavior regarding that fight between him and Gaga by trying to make it about Gaga v. Aquilera(Bionic) is playing into the hands of Gaga fans who also like to draw attention away from Gaga's behavior in this Gaga-Perez fight.

They are both, Perez AND Gaga not behaving like people one could respect.

  72. Yes sorry that makes so much sense Opie :)

  73. No I haven't seen it! However I found some old articles from two years ago about the gaga team sabotage of Bionic http://www.aguileraonline.com/2011/08/news-conspiracy-behind-christina.html Queen of mass manipulation?

  76. LOL I saw too. It is of course really not a nice word but "chump" seems a bit lacking in equivalent strength.
Better come up with a more forceful yet acceptable adjective yourself next time. I'm sure you can. :-)

  78. A celebrity that's different behind closed doors than he/she is in public? What that's crazy! I honestly don't think that just because a person changes how they are in an interview that it means they are not who they appear to be, people do change. From 2009 to 2010 she had a quite a boom in her mainstream status/fame Whether her "different attitude" that you view is a result of fame changing her, her real personality being shown or her having an off day or even just feeling like wearing sunglasses that day I don't expect any person to be the same way in every single interview or public appearance

  79. This is something that I have have been waiting to come to the
public's attention for a long time, and I feel that only recently
because Gaga herself has actually responded to Perez it's a big deal.

FIRST AND FOREMOST these tweets are merely drops in the bucket compared to
the entire situation. With regards to the timeline of this Gaga/Perez
feud this is towards THE END of the spectrum. This has been going on for
longer than a year if I'm not mistaken and I've watched it escalate and
play out on twitter. While I do not pretend to know ALL the details or
how the friendship ended It is clear the Perez was the one that "started" this fight publicly

While the two were friends, there was a constant stream of support (especially on Twitter) for her music and his site. When the friendship ended, The twitter chat between the two was completely dead, silent and non existent and they unfollowed each other. About 6 months ago Perez started outwardly attacking Gaga, making comments about other divas and how much better they are (while @ replying her) making every Madonna comment/comparison in the book. Then when 'Applause" leaked then was officially released he retweeted countless illegal download links, trashed the song said 'Roar' was better in addition to countless other tactics which I'm sure in his mind would damage her career.

I am aware that Perez does this to countless celebrities however it is apparent that with regards to Gaga he has spent even more time, energy and resources to do so even more than usual.

With that said, Gaga CLEARLY knew what she was doing with that Karma, Madonna text tweet. She was very much as many said "mobilizing her army". She normally does not address such issues but clearly this irked her. For some reason I don't see this as a publicity stunt, I see her as genuinely angry.

  80. Agree, both are as bad as each other but the supposed truths Perez knows about Gaga do kinda make me side with him more, as much as I dislike him.

    ReplyDelete
  81. To me, it was a lack of musical direction (especially such a huge change from previous albums), the fact she took so long to release it, limited promotion after Not Myself Tonight and none whatsoever outside of the US, and then her lack of interest in doing anything with it after it flopped and just let it sink rather than tried in vain to save it. But yes, the whole look and style she had going on in the Not Myself Tonight video didn't help and the song wasn't the best that she could have released as a first single. I do think the attack from Perez, other critics and of course Gaga stans also aided in its fall, but I don't think Perez really had "power" so to speak, many of the comments on his posts were more supportive of her than him.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree with you in parts but there are artists who have held their heads high and ignored it all (perhaps with general talks and references to criticisms made), such as Xtina. Gaga's way of going about it is brave I guess but it's also just as bad and doesn't do her many favours in the eye of the general public who are big fans of hers. He will probably keep on going on about it for a while, whereas with Xtina, within a few months he stopped talking smack about her (or about at her at all) and I guess part of it is because he wasn't getting any response or attention from her - he still kept tweeting her saying he loves her, etc. but gets no reply (a bit stupid seeing as she rarely uses Twitter).
