Gaga Gifts "The Late Show" With "G.U.Y" and "Dope" Performances

Lady Gaga took herself to The Late Show with David Letterman to continue the promotional trail of latest single, G.U.Y. She also took the opportunity to push its housing LP Artpop- not to mention illustrate her versatility- by banging out album cut Dope on the old pianie.

Although Gaga was giving us constant choreography with G.U.Y, something didn't feel quite right about the performance. It wasn't that she was missing her marks, or that she was all over the place- because she wasn't. Instead, there was an air of hazy laziness about the routine, almost as if she wasn't quite committed to being that "guy under you" today. Oh well, at least she kept the vocals tight.

However the performance of Dope was another story, and the Diva appeared ultimately more comfortable poised behind her instrument. The result was a rendition that was pretty much on point throughout.

Thoughts?

She is dancing so bad :( I have watched more performances of G.U.Y. and another songs from Roseland and she is dancing like a hungry troll. I am starting to think she forgot how to dance...

  2. Maybe it was that hip injury?

(free of charge instant excuse for Gaga fans. :-) Personally I always thought she is a poor dancer)

Maybe :D She used to dance better than this, a lot better, so idk.

  4. The choreography is pretty good but the lack of energy is soooooooo damn noticeable. She might as well bend over and shake her ass like Beyonce because that'd be more entertaining than watching her get outdone by her backup dancers. That something I can't say about Beyonce... She's generally on par with her back up dancers, being just as energized except when paired with Les Twins...because lets face it... Les Twins can't be touched....

On a different note. I just scrolled down my subscriptions and one of my favorite Choreographers choreographed "Do What You Want" LOL. But boy with the pink (salmon, peach? Yall know I'm color blind) shirt and black and white dancing sweats can get it any time...I mean ENTIII TYME!!!!!

  5. I always feel my throat tighten up when she goes for those E♭5s in Dope. This time was different. She didn't seem to struggle as much.

  6. Excluding Bad Romance, all other performances done in roseland were "mediocre" or bad.
I was hopping for something really better...

  7. Wow, so much pre-recorded vocals and lazy "choreo", are you guys sure it wasn't a Britney Spears show?

Anyway, here's a list of all the appearances Gaga made to flog that dead horse

Itunes festival, Bougis, Le poisson rouge, Berghain, Gay heaven, Artrave, Annabel's, Jingle Bell Ball, MTV VMA, GMA twice, X Factor, Graham Norton Show, Youtube Music awards, Howard Stern, SNL, AMA, Muppets, Alan Carr, The Voice, SXSW, Jimmy Fallon, David Letterman and four japanese TV shows (one of them twice too)

+ tons of interview, an app, 5 singles and a few videos.

She tried as hard as she could to make Artpop happen. It didnt happen.

  8. Could it be the 5 inch pencil heeled boots that she's wearing? lol. She needs to follow Beyonce's route and stick to lower heels......especially if she has to accomplish these routines that involve lifting yourself off the floor

  9. honestly as a stan her past few performances have been ehhh
the Artpop Era has been disappointing despite it being her strongest work (my personal opinion)
the only amazing performance this era was the DWUW on alan carr where she belted out that single

its sad though because i think she is capable of returning to her glory days
she still has the voice and from what we saw in the GUY video she still can dance - sure she may not have as much physical stamina as BEY but honeslty who does.

her dancing this era has been bleh except for the VMAS performance - that performance was just all around a great performance.

i think overall what screwed over this era was that she messed up on DWUW it was at 13 on the hot 100 and if she released the video it could have pushed it upwards towards the top 10 no doubt

she also needs to get a new choreographer because whoever is in charge now isn't very creative (even though I like the choreo for G.U.Y)

It's really painful to see this... Her voice sounds SO tired and she's avoiding upper belts & sustain notes. Please Demi, don't Christina your voice :O

  13. she was suffering from laryngitis in indianapolis show even the souncheck was cancelled due to it but idk why she did the main show maybe promoter didn't let her cancelled..

  14. don't take me wrong but its from the show where she was ill she even tweeted about it before the show and asked people to help her by singing with her.

  15. She always sounds ill. Something's up.

  16. I'm not even sure if it's the promoter, I think it's she who doesn't want to cancel. I've said before, I think she's a hard worker, but I think she sometimes works TOO hard and it can be detrimental.

  17. Agreed. She's making a career decision, I know. But she really needs to get some rest before she can really come out on top again. At least she has that potential, but we might not see it realized until next year. Maybe she'll surprise us. I don't know how long the gap between her SA leg of the tour and the next leg of the tour will be.

  18. I hope this doesn't come off the wrong way, but I'm convinced drug use has something to do with her immune system being so bad right now.

    Nop. That was her Bulimia.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You're right because I didn't know that bulimia could have an effect on the immune system like that. Could be a mix of both too.

  21. demi did ed sheeran "give me love" and someone mix her version with ed original version and they both sound so good together i think they need to do a collab!(ps-demi's version ending gave me chills) https://soundcloud.com/epic_lovatic/give-me-love-demi-lovato-and-ed-sheeran

  22. I'll admit I was a little worried about her voice towards the end of the North American Neon Lights Tour- but this is great. Woah- blew me away. http://m.youtube.com/watch?sns=tw&v=beRexGrNqH0

  25. I watched all of her performances last night and you can tell she was majorly sick(surprise surprise?) but what really made this was the emotion. It was so raw, not a lot of people put that much passion into what they're doing, but she truly bared her soul in this song.

  26. @dd do review of it please

  27. What's demi's range in Give Me Love?

    ReplyDelete
  28. F3-F5, exactly 2 octaves. The F3 was very faint. The lowest audible note was G#3. But yes, F3-F5 nonetheless.

  29. do you still believe that demi is going to touch whitney's abilities?
