Quite a few of us have been waiting for Ms. Jazmine Sullivan to make her return. Well today marks that day as the Diva drops new song, Dumb.
With a beat that goes hard- seriously, turn the volume up- and a choir dotting the backing with periodic tones, this comeback makes an immediate, if slightly dark, impression. Meek Mill joins the fray mid-song with a rap that, for the first time in long while, actually fits with the track- rather than feeling like it's been shoehorned in. His segments leads nicely into the middle eight, which disappointingly doesn't see the Diva ramping up the vocal- like I was expecting. Instead, Jazmine continues with the same, almost laid back vocal, showcased throughout the song.
Still, I'm loving Dumb and it's a welcome return from this soulfully gritty Diva.
