The death knell has tolled for American Idol, with plans for the atrophying show to come to an end after its fifteenth season (scheduled to be airing in 2016).
The Fox prime time extravaganza has had some sizeable success stories, having discovered vocal talents like Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson. However recent seasons have suffered from poor viewing figures and winning contestants flopping all over the place once the cameras stopped rolling.
But what will take the place of this summer schedule hogging show? Another talent contest? Or could this move by Fox be a portend for the demise of the talent show format in general? Who knows!!
