Vocal Type: Dramatic Soprano
Vocal Range: 4 octaves G2#-G6#
Vocal Pluses: Incredibly versatile, rich and emotive voice that has a dark, weighty timbre. The midrange is solid with a warmth and sweetness. The belting range is clear and robust with a fiery passion and connects seamlessly to the head voice. This part of the range is bright, resonate and has the flexibility to sound operatic, contemporary or even able to mimic birdsong. Expert control over the voice means that notes can be sustained effortlessly- with or without vibrato- and pitched perfectly.
Vocal Negatives: Unique and individual singing style is not to everyone's taste.

Thank you so much for doing this! I always find your comments really interesting.
ReplyDeleteYay! So glad you published her vocal range- I think Kate Bush is a wonderful singer.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work! :)
And thank both of you for taking the time to thank me!! :D
ReplyDeleteSince 1986, I have been under her spell. She is God.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
I think she has the worst voice i have ever heard. no way she can reach 4 ocatves?
ReplyDeleteI am guessing due to you not liking her voice, you didn't listen to it much.
ReplyDelete'Nordi' tho...u must be a bjork fan :)
ReplyDeleteKate shits all over that bitch
Enormous range, good control, and she sounds comfortable in all parts of it. The voice can be light and fragile or shrieky and overbearing like a harpy depending on what's called for artistically and she can switch between these in the same tune. She can do folk ("Army Dreamers"), more operatic sounds (the decorations in "Hammer Horror") or classic alternative ("Wow"). Her ballads ("Wuthering Heights" and "This Woman's Work") never fail to impress me. I agree her sound is unique and may not win fans all over, but she has a devoted following and I find her to be an innovative female artist.
ReplyDeleteAnother spot on profile. Kate Bush is a true artist. Imo even her first album from 1978 still holds up brilliantly 34 years later! As do her videos.
ReplyDeletesince the video of her vocal range has been deleted, does anybody have at least information about songs, preferably exact moment, containing her lowest and highest note? or could you do sample with some of her notes, like you did with Cher etc, Diva? I guess Kate fans, including me, would be thrilled. Can anyone help?
ReplyDeleteThis old video was mine, and that is her new video

ReplyDeleteThere are some almost James Brown-like screams that I believe extend up to D7 :D Such as The Big Sky
ReplyDeleteTrue. There are D7 screams in "The Big Sky."
