[New Music Video] Christina Aguilera "Your Body"

Christina Aguilera turns cold blooded killer in the accompanying video for single, Your Body. Not content with just one victim though, Christina works those Rubenesque curves and manages to lure three unsuspecting men into her saucy web of death. But it's not all bad news; they do get a little Aguilera flavored sugar before she turns their lights off forever! A fair trade, some would say.

It's not the direction I thought the video would take, but I'm guessing that was the point. Besides, going on a killing spree was more likely to get past the censors than a visual play by play of the X-rated lyrics. In the end, it's a strong visual comeback from the Diva, and one which should hopefully have the single rocketing up those world charts!

Check out the video for Your Body, below.

Also, am I the only one that finds Christina Aguilera's psycho/murderess act more convincing than the sexy/seductive one...?

  1. I think you summed it up, she suits the psychotic biatch much better than that of the seductress.

I did find the toilet scene slightly distasteful, maybe thats just my sick mind going into overdrive though haha, either way its a fun vid and its good to have her back.

  2. I think the video was of the same quality as the song. That's all I feel like saying.

  3. Hahahha. I noticed that too....even wrote a paragraph about it, but removed it thinking my mind was in the gutter.

  4. Yes, I always thought it pretty bold of Christina to go for that "white trash" image. Pretty smart too.Must be one of the easiest images to live up to consistently
A "white" Rhianna if you will, I guess.;D

I'd say the video is a lot better than the song though. Actually rather inventive way to depict brutal murder as Pretty In Pink

  5. To be honest though I thought it was cool how Christina was making fun of herself. There's a lot of underlying humor in here for her fans and haters. The fake tanner on her legs, the tanning with her clothes on, the star spangled banner t shirt, eating, wearing no pants, "seducing" multiple men, and the fabulous "Rich Bitch" Necklace I feel the video was a play on her public image. I might just be over analyzing though...lol

  6. That is actually a pretty sharp assessment...stuff that I didn't pick up on!

  7. Wow, it's like a parody of herself....didn't pick up on that either.

    ReplyDelete
  8. How do you guys figure this being a parody of herself rather than just being herself?

  9. No you're actually completely right. She purposefully did all that. She knows exactly what she's doing. It was a 1st single for a reason, as she said, it's a "Rebirth." It's a intro into the new era, so she addressed a lot in the video to move onto the new her.

  10. I think she pulled together both pretty well. I don't think she was necessarily trying to be sexy in the video, like as an attitude. Though in my opinion she did look flawlessy sexy, confident & fierce. As she said in the behind the scenes & interviews about the video, it was her "not taking herself too serious." Christina is a very confident woman. I loved the video, perfect intro into a new era.

  11. Can you link me to that interview?

  12. This new era. You know every (new) album is a new era for an artist, right?

  13. The Christina we gather from her personal interviews and real time appearances is a rather put together girl with a strong heart and really treats her work very seriously as an art. Im not saying this is her real personality i'm just saying this is the way she portrays herself on her work related appearances. She has this manner of speaking as if she truly educates herself about the subject she is being asked about rather than lets say Rihanna who just sounds like she was just thrown in there randomly and tries to act funny. Christina for the most part seems like an intelligent opinionated person with a bad public image. Now her "Sexyness" per say truly is a part of her personality. She comments on sexuality a lot and shows her opinion on how she believes its something natural and hey why not have fun with it in a video or song. But generally the media and tabloids portray her as a tramp with her life out of order. Sure in video's like Dirrty and Not myself tonight she has this sort of "Dirty" "White Trash" image. But to be honest those are the only two video appearances of her work that she expresses herself as a "Slut" out of her entire video catalog excluding this video. As for her educated manner of speaking I now that I think about mean more so to her tone and deliverance more so than the validity or accuracy of what she relays but for the most part she doesn't get too much wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeURtXElmWc&feature=related

  14. Oh my view of that white trash image comes mostly from the way she has dressed in the past at such occasions as Grammy shows and the likes and random pictures I have seen. I don't read gossip magazines or the like nor do I watch "entertainment" programs discussing pop stars.

Being from The Netherlands, I hold a pretty relaxed sexual views and it's no personal judgment of mine that sexiness equals "slut" nor do I consider what Americans define as a slut with the same moral indignation. :)
I just am aware of the American term "white trash" and it's definition regarding behavior and outward appearance. Christina's image from what I have seen always seemed to fit that definition.

Clearly I will have to haunt down some more interviews besides the link you posted ( Thanks for that btw) and find out more before being able to judge that possible underlining parody in the video.

Still, though I thought the video was rather entertaining, the lyrics and subject of the song don't really seem to dispel that image I got from her so far. ;D

  15. LOL Uhm no, I don't buy into that just because their press junkets say so. For an album to represent a "new era" is has to actually differ significantly from previous albums.
Just claiming something doesn't cut it with those with a working brain I am afraid. ;)
But I admit, on masses of folks not possessing such a thing, that technique DOES seem to work.

  16. The whole Era thing is more of a sub term for album on the internet. I don't think its even a press term more so than a fan term. Christina is known to express this term often because she tries to change her sound with every album.

  17. Ok, well I don't really care. You asked a question, I gave you an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No, you didn't give an answer. Brian did though. Thanks Brian. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks Brian. Excuse me while I utter a hearty laugh though. Not at you in any way but at the idea that these albums have "meaning" and the songs "significance". Everybody knows these albums are products of a record label rather than an artist. I will have to check whether Christina's use of the term has any significance. Not familiar with her work at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Now I wouldn't say so. There are plenty of artists who are under corporate "Jurisdiction" that actual put themselves into their work. Mariah, No Doubt, Linda Perry, Sia, Matchbox Twenty, etc. Christina for the most part doesn't but has been known to co write some beautiful songs. Back to Basics and Bionic both had some very meaningful songs in them. Also of course theres Stripped which put her in the spotlight she is in today.

  21. Lmfao glad to know I wasn't the only one.

  22. Am I the only one who is not impressed by this video or song? Every blog I've visited is cluttered with Floptina stans saying things like "OMG SHE FUCKING SLAYED IT" "NEW QUEEN OF POP" *insert generic comment with the incorrect usage of the word flawless*. The only thing she's slaying is her career. I'm waiting for

  23. Adele to release Let the Sky Fall, so she can make it hail on b*tches. All of these comebacks will be overshadowed by Adele (Pun not intended) hahaha.

  24. I also forgot to add how lovely she looks, as in healthy (not the whole wardrobe gig) but in general. I think she suits a curvier figure, mind you though I have always thought she was very pretty, even though I have friends who branded her a 'munter' - the fools :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hehehe no change there then :p

    ReplyDelete
  26. Keep the down votes coming!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  27. But if the record label wants or doesn't want a track on the album, that's going to be the deciding vote. There are plenty of artists who will attest to how these labels work and who left major labels because of that.

Co write indeed...with a whole team of people in fact.;D

And once again I have to say the songs leave me unimpressed.
I know "beautiful" for instance is considered "meaningful" but I find it a very simplistic "meaning" and very conveniently addressing the same themes we are told we should care about by popular media and are addressed in similarly simplistic fashion by other pop stars. And obviously it is working for a certain age group at a certain stage of emotional development. Not denying that one.
But I am not buying for a second these songs are the artistic, deep and personal reflections of adult songwriters. They are marketing guided charting attempts.

    ReplyDelete
  28. LOL I hope that will be true Mel. :)

  29. Can't say I agree on that Stuey. I personally do not find her sexy or attractive in the least.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wellll for my money what she "gets wrong" there is going to Guatamala to draw attention to starving children there when in her own country 35 million kids go to bed hungry everyday.

  31. Oh im not talking about Beautiful at all. Christina to me isn't even on that song for the matter. She had nothing to do with it but taking it From Linda and making it sound great. Songs that really showcase her cowriting and the sheer amount of emotion she puts into her songs are "Im Ok, Keep on singing my song, Understand, Save me from myself, the right man, All I need, I am, and You lost me" are all prime examples of Christina's signature quality of material of deep lyrics with not so bland and repetitive chorus's as beautiful is known for. And as for the record label you're right. But to say that the albums don't have meaning at all is up to the artists we speak of. Sure the record label decides what's put on the album. but the Material itself for Artists who actually write and produced are all made by them. Ke$ha for instance recently came out with a new song and said the record label had trouble deciding the structure of her new record due to the fact that she had written and recorded over 50 songs. The artists (past the whole induction phase of the music game) are generally given more room and control as to what is on the record and the quality of the material they make. But yeah I really recommend listening to all of those songs. They are pop ballads of recent years that I feel are of great quality.

    ReplyDelete
  32. as for the whole team of people comment yet again we must address the artist and song. Christina works for the most part with a small group of writers usually no more than two or three. And some artists completely write their own material themselves. Beautiful was less a marketing deploy and moreso a moment insecurity for Mrs Perry. I mean not to say that the record label didnt think it would be perfect for adolescents and what not but its not just some fabrication of greedy record bastards. It was written as a sincere song and was never meant to be released. If i recall correctly P!nk originally wanted it but Linda said no one would be allowed to sing it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. and before you go look up the song credits and get on to me about saying two to three writers Im talking about her heartfelt ballads Not really her one hit singles.

    ReplyDelete
  34. In that case Linda Perry is a pretty simplistic and shallow adult.
But I think you are wrong. :)
I think she deliberately kept it simplistic and the record company realized it's selling /hit potential and was fine with Christina recording it and putting on her album.
And being a cynic I am afraid I will continue to believe that the major record labels are businesses and their purpose is making money.

    ReplyDelete
  35. LOL OF COURSE I am going to look up the writing credits on these songs. ;D

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think you just made my point though...this Keisha wrote 50 songs ( never mind quality since 50 songs for one album is quite the achievement in itself never mind that aside from Bob Dylan I don't know if there has been any writer in history who wrote 50 worthwhile songs in their entire career tbh) and "the record label had trouble deciding the structure of her new record".

Almost all the songs you mentioned have very simplistic straightforward and unimaginative lyrics. I am not doubting they are sincere and heartfelt and reach loads of young people but great songwriting it is not imo.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I was never disputing the fact that labels do in fact have to decide wether or not to decide wether the songs on an album will sell but I am trying to disuade your comment on how these songs don't have any meaning. Shallow or simplistic these songs do in fact have some meaning if not for the writer or singer.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What I am arguing against is the idea that these albums have a meaning and significance other than the one attached after the label decided which songs have the biggest sales potential and would end up on one and the same album. I am of the belief those are afterthoughts made up by the pr people when thinking up how exactly they are going to sell that particular album.

I consistently said they no doubt have meaning and significance to some. Just not to the more mature or deeper personality. That is why I say these songs you mentioned are not "great songwriting". No more so than despite their big appeal and millions of people finding meaning and significance in a Dan Brown, Dan Brown's novels are not considered great literature.

  39. Lol I guess she is an acquired taste. One thing I will point out though is her stubby thumb when hitching a ride from the first guy did freak me out a little :D

    ReplyDelete
  40. LOL Didn't pay that close attention...seeing as I don't really find her sexy. I don't think "sexy" is an acquired taste though? More hormonal or something like that I'd say..not something within our control.
