[Music Video] Rihanna delivers Just What You Were Expecting With "Pour It Up" Visuals

Released over half a year after the song itself peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Charts, Rihanna finally débuts the visuals for the scuzzy stripper anthem, Pour it up.

I've played this song to death since Unapologetic's 2012 release, and as so, have often imagined how the visuals would be. With lyrics like "Strippers goin' up and down that pole, and I still got my money", "All I see is signs, all I see is dollar signs", it was hardly going to birth a thoughtful and nuanced promo. Needless to say, the video is just as depressingly dirty and seedy as it could have been.

The visuals were obviously done to shock and gain column inches, but I think the real reason for the star finally getting herself together and filming the video- which fans have been calling for since January- was more to do with this moment than anything else [see gifs]. What better way to educate- or shade- Miley Cyrus than by showing her how she would make a ratchet video with some serious twerking featured..

Those easily (or even moderately so) offended, do not watch the video! If you do choose to venture into Rihanna's mucky world of your own accord, just be prepared to come out of it feeling like you need a bleach bath. You have been warned!

Thoughts?

  1. The irony of her sorta scolding Miley for doing something like that. But then again, it is Rihanna so I'm not too surprised. I just don't get it xD. Nice workout song though.

  2. Rihanna can't dance. And, no matter how much she shows it off and posts flattering pics and videos of it, her behind will always be kinda flat. Well, not *flat* like Miley's, but certainly not curvy at all. Even Miley manages to make her ass look decent-sized in her music videos.

The video is boring. When girls can't think of an interesting concept for a video, they resort to getting the flesh out. Sick of bragging songs too. I feel like Rihanna has reached her apex, and pretty soon - maybe a year or two - it will become uncool to like her.

  3. This video's boring tho. I mean I wouldn't mind a good stripper video if it was visually appealing, but this video idk felt flat, a few grinding shots of Rih and some strippers awkwardly edited in. I actually like the song for it's low-key chill kind of vibe, but I just don't dig this video.

  4. Rihanna has never had the greatest wigs or weaves--or music, but that's besides the point--, but this wig is a new kind of travesty. For someone who is reportedly worth 90 million, she should not looks like she done smuggled a Marilyn Monroe wig out of her local Halloween costume store, and then had her home girl Melissa sew that shit on top of her head. She did not look the least bit enticing or sexy in this video; I've seen one legged strippers at the local gentleman's club look sexier than her, and I'm talking hoes with battle scars and tattoos galore. The only lasting impression I'm left with after watching this video is the idea of what the in between of Rihanna's leg might smell like. I now can't get the smell of cigars, yams, and ackee and saltfish out of my nostrils. Also, I can't help but wonder if she was clapping her ass on what was possibly several inches of piss?

  6. OK, I've seen now Miley and Rihanna

I think we have to wait for the third girl, Lana - Tropico, a good girl gone bad

I've got a feeling that it will be mind blowing.

  8. Re: the second paragraph, I think this is probably why the director took his name off the project. [http://necolebitchie.com/2013/09/20/rihanna-falls-out-with-pour-it-up-video-director-tells-him-take-your-name-off-the-check/]

  9. I think Lana is in a totally different lane to those two, but I agree that it's probably going to be awesome!

  10. That's partially why I click with RIhanna. I find that attitude intoxicating.
