[Music Video] Britney Spears "Work B!tch"

Work B!tch is still doing as much for me as a cold cup of tea, but hey, the video is out, so let's see if that can do anything to improve my feelings towards it- I'm shallow like that sometimes.

The Ben Mor directed visuals are actually heartening to behold. There's less of the fast edits that were done last era to disguise Britney Spears' sloppy choreography, and there is definitely a sparkle back behind the ol' peepers- though that could have been added post production! Overall, it's a good promo for a crumby song and it should convince many- not me- that she's back on form and ready for her two-year stint in Las Vegas.

Finally, I will say this once more and then shut up about it because I feel like a broken record: Will.i.am please stay away from the production on the album. You can help select songs, design the cover with your Crayola felt tips and glitter glue, choreograph the routines, or even turn Mama Knowles and single-handedly design and sew Britney's entire tour wardrobe; just please stay away from the music itself. I'm begging you!!!

Thoughts?

  1. Not feeling the music message and the same is happening with the video. Is this really necessary? We could use positive message, not this "you need an expensive car, a hot skinny body and a fancy life to be someone" ideology. Not to mention those women in a submissive position... gross

  2. They're Britney's Slaves (4 U) loll

  3. The choreography is nice (and nothing more than nice), and again I like the message that the song wants to send, but hell, I hate the way it does, if only the lyrics were more elaborated...

About the video... well, it's a video trying to catch young people attention so yes, it did its job great. If I wasn't gay I'd probably be replaying it all day with my other hand suspictiously hidden under the table, but unfortunately it's not the case. Anyway, although I've never been a fan of her, I'm happy to see Britney back in the game. This shows that it's possible to recover from a hard break down ^^

  4. OK, I don't know if my comment was erased because of the thing I said about "replaying the video all the day" but anyway, yeah, it was kinda rude, I'm sorry...

  6. Well, seeing that this is the "second, most-expensive music video ever made" (behind 'Michael/Janet Jackson's "Scream" - an alleged '$6.5M in Production Costs), I am quite unimpressed. Albeit, I have never been a fan of Britney; vocally, musically or artistically, I am aware of her 'once' through ability to 'entertain' and, in my opinion, this video doesn't revitalize that in any way. I DO, however, like the song's lyrical message and she does look gorgeous.

I wish her the best nevertheless. She has a large, global, fanbase and I am sure her commercial success will be as bold as ever. : - )

  12. It's Written by W.ill.iam- douchey lyrics are kinda his schtick. I will say about the video though that the lady with the beats pill thing in her mouth made me feel ill.

  13. Just gonna copy and paste from my previous post on her vocal profile.

Her choreography has really improved, or should I say resembles when she actually danced a few years back. I don't know why but the song is growing on me even though it's generic. That's Britney's strong point -- memorable tunes that you find yourself humming a lot. Although you can't really hum this song, I hope you get the point lol her songs have a sort of attraction to them somehow. Weird.

  15. I really really like it, though the song could have been better. But i'm really impressed with her. Her choreography or her dancing is almost as it used to be, she looked fit here and very pretty, and i really like the message of the song. again she needs more movement and action like she used to have but other than that im happy and proud of her

  16. That scene reminded me a lot of Christina's video of Not Myself Tonight. I don't know if I've ever mentioned but my opinion about that single (and almost the whole album) is not exactly very positive...

  17. Ben Mor, the director of the video posted a pic on instagram addressing some controversy of the video, including "THE VIDEO DID NOT COST SIX MILLION DOLLARS...NOT EVEN CLOSE ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?!!" So I guess we can assume a little toxic criminal out there likes to spread big rumors haha.

  21. It's still not my favorite song from her, but the video rejuvenated my spirits to much. I was SCREAMING. Her body looks great, the choreography still obviously can't match Slave or anything, but it was such an improvement from Femme Fatale (but I did enjoy the subtle homage to Slave). And the desert scenes just completely slayed me. I honestly feel like I watched the rebirth of the holy Spearit. Femme Fatale had great songs, but now it looks like the fire is back in her eyes. And I agree with that last comment so much, will.i.am, more like will.u.stop. But hey this is still the motivation song/video of the year.

(I've also heard talk of a director's cut planned on being released, if so I hope it's a dance cut like they did with Till The World Ends, because I need longer clips of that desert dance scene.)

  22. This video is everything! What is life? what is air? What is god? This should open up everyone to their Spearitual side.

  23. The vocals were really nothing(no offense to all Britney fans) but I like the song. It is catchy and quite radio-friendly. Sadly that's all the good things I can say about this song.
