[Free For All Friday]

Today I will not be watching the Winter Olympics....

If you don't know the score, here be the rules:
  • Try not to get too perverted-this site still needs to basically be "safe for work".
  • If somebody starts a controversial subject, try keeping it civil when dealing with it. If things get out of hand please flag the conversation.
  • It would be nice if it stuck to music, but it's not a requirement! So talk about news, current events, how you're getting your hair done next time you hit the hairdresser! Whateves, really!
  • No nasty comments aimed at other users.
Inappropriate hugs to all y'all, and wishing you an awesome weekend!

  2. She still has a long way to improve her technique, but gosh, I LOVED this girl the very first time I heard her. When she learns to place properly her belts, she's gonna be amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=311EG9p697w

  3. Well, then you missed a very tasteful and artistic show. And Anna Netrebko with an awesome rendition of the Olympic Hymn. Alas no video as of yet. You will have to take my word for it. ;-)

  4. too bad she got eliminated early in favor of paige thomas (who can't even sing well at all) :/

  5. The only person that I really didn't like this season was Cece Frey lol. She was pitchy and had no vocal control. The only thing I did admire was her confidence, which later was deterioated after Demi made her into an over-sensitive and cliche contestant.

What's even worse is that Tate Stevens won and Willie Jones didn't make it to the live shows. WTF! Lol...I was pretty heated from that.

I'm just glad Diamond White and Fifth Harmony made it as far as they did. They were my favorites other than Willie.

  6. lol I love some of the male versions better than the female ones. Heart Attack is a great song when it's tuned to a high tenor tessitura. Another great one is Love On Top by Beyonce and And I am Telling You (which is still ridiculously high even after being lowered)
I always use them for reference, but sadly, they're too high for me since I'm a lower baritone. It's a nice listen, though.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I know right; in actuality, some of them ARE better than the Female versions.

Mariah Carey's "Bliss": The Male Version is just....... PURE SEX. If a Man could sing like that, and somewhere out there I'm sure there is, I honestly don't know what I'd do. LMAO.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Haha it's crazy right?! I think it's the idea of men belting super resonant fifth octave notes that makes us love them.
Bliss oh my god, you have no idea lol. I can sing it, but I sound nothing like how it should sound. If someone sang that to me, I don't know what I'd do. Eargasm at it's finest.

    ReplyDelete
  9. OMG. Whitney's - Male - version is amazing!!! As a man, I can hit all the notes too but I wish my voice could be a resonant and perfectly controlled. For some reason, it did remind of peabo bryson a little, lol. I'm sure he could belt this out with no problem at all, even the high head/falsetto notes. I want a male pop singer who can sing like this now.

  10. Just wondering if anyone here has seen this yet?

Cannot. Stop. Listening. This girl has a spectacular chest voice.

  11. I love Miley's MTV unplugged. Although, she needs to be careful bc her quality goes down when she's jumping around and stuff. She either needs to learn to dance and sing or just stop twerking :P

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah, she needs to understand breath control a bit more...she's a good performer, at times. No real organization but she can shock a crowd, that's a fact.

I have no comment on her twerking...which wasn't/isn't really twerking. More like gyrating her spinal cord up and down lol. All I want for her is to take serious vocal lessons. She has awe-inspiring potential

    ReplyDelete
  13. LOL I would love to see your lower range showcased. I get small glimpses at the end of your phrases. Awesome cover! :3 And very consistent vibrato

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, definitely. I feel like she takes this whole music business as a joke sometimes...idk

    ReplyDelete
  15. What the hell, it's a free for all, why not. I am getting really tired of scavenging the back-catalogues of my favorite divas who need to get back to the studio. I am getting itchy for new music from a whole slew of divas, where do I start, I guess I'll just start listing
    I need new music from

ANNIE LENNOX- I really hope this Beatles event on Feb 9 where the Eurythmics are appearing means either they are planning on a new album or Annie is getting back to the studio. You know Ms. Lennox, you need to stop being such an upstanding humanitarian and get back in the studio to satisfy my auditory needs, dammit! I also got a thought that popped into my head at complete random, her deep rich voice and Xtina's voice should collaborate in a cool downtempo soul ballad! Doesn't that sound awesome?

BJÖRK- I literally just became enchanted by Björk's musicality and style, and after hearing Biophilia, I'm ready for a completely new even better journey through the mind of Iceland's songbird. Even more elaborate conceptually and more electronic.

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE- It's been too long since "Ceremonials" and I'm ready for more from the best band out there. Two albums isn't a big enough catalogue to scavenge for more songs.

KATE BUSH- I know it hasn't been that terribly long since her latest, bit I still want more, she's such a superb songwriter and has amazing individual vocal style.

KYLIE MINOGUE- Well, I called that one, I just saw the story on DD's main page, so that takes care of her.

ADELE- I am just glad to know that she's working on her next album.

NICOLE SCHERZINGER- I just wish the Pussycat Dolls would get back together, they made better music together than they'all ever do separately, but I'm just dreaming. Anyway, Nicole was underwhelming with "Boomerang" and she needs to show off the soul that is in her voice and get away from all the dance-pop numbers that are bringing her down. I know she can be amazing.

XTINA- She's my girl, and I will support whatever she does, I really just want her to get back to recording in that fancy home studio of hers, and I hope she takes notes from the vocals she's been using in her recent guest appearances.

FIONA APPLE- I wish she didn't take so long between albums, but perfection requires time.

SHIRLEY BASSEY- The greatest female vocalist of all time needs to release more material. She's getting very old, in her upper 70's and astonishingly, her voice sounds as good now as it did singing Goldfinger back in 1963. Her voice is legendary and I really hope she's able to release more in her final years gracing pop music just as she has since 1953, when she entered the recording industry.

Damn, my thumbs need a break now!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Never thought I'd hear a Russian version of "Un-break My Heart", or a nice cover of the song done by a soprano. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9y-5bnV3ZoI Two birds, one cover.

  17. I would love I see a new vocal profile soon. One diva that should totally be added is Tiffany Evans. Huge voice, amazing vibrato, and flawless control. Also, how has Tori Kelly not been added yet. She is one of the best vocalists of this generation.

    ReplyDelete
  18. If you all looking for an amzing male vocalist, look no further than Luke Edgemon. This guy is the male epitome of a Diva and always has the pipes to back his divatude up.

    ReplyDelete
  21. OMG the first one, she didn't even get a damn note right! o____O I never thought anybdy could beat Selena Gomez in that department but hey, kudos to her, she did it :D Here's another crappy one: the effects of lowering your larynx down to hell... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXHSFI-hVR4

And I'm not to sorry for Willie getting eliminated TBH, I have to admit that I have a thing against basses.

  23. For some peculiar reason, Leith, I actually liked "Big Mouth Holly". LMAO. I wouldn't say she was "lowering her larynx" during this performance either, she happens to just be a very Dark- Mezzo with a slight cavernous quality. I liked her animated phrasing and her intonation was, indeed, quite good but it's her tonal quality of which is an acquired taste, FOR SURE I read about her online and, interestingly enough, she has a history of working in the West- End Theater's of London but that surprise me, her voice screams 'Cabaret'. Also, Willie Jones isn't a "Bass". True Basses are VERY rare, much like True Contralto's, and he isn't one at all; a Full- Lyric Baritone I'd say and he DEFINITELY suffered from a "Low Larynx".

Have you seen this audition? LOL. Please watch it, it's hilarious. : -D

  24. The Music Bizz yes but I realy think music she takes seriously.
But she comes from Country and that's not a genre lessons are common. I think it just hasn't really struck her that those might help her a lot. Possibly the music Bizz has so far been too distracting. ;-)

  25. Yes, I too am disappointed how these free for all fridays tend to just end up same old same old.
Here's a little Renee Fleming singing a gorgeous Hallelujah. Old song but at least a voice we haven't heard all that much here yet.

  28. Amen! I thought I was the only one itching for more Florence Welch. She just has that thing on stage where few could even dream to have it. Incredible stage presence, even if it's just singing.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "This video does not exist."
Next time please at least include the singer's name... :\

    ReplyDelete
  30. Looking forward to a return from each of those!! However, reading your list, I find myself hoping Florence takes at least another year before a new release. I loved both her albums, but I get the feeling she was majorly burned out by the the whirlwind that came with them. I want her fully rejuvenated for her return.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You and Brian have made me see these videos in a totally diff light. And having just listened to the vids you've linked to, I've realized that I had heard some pretty bad pitch shifts, previously. The ones you linked to actually sound like men.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I've never understood the point of these, thinking they're some weird kind of gimmick. But you've actually given me a reason to check them out. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I missed her unplugged thing. Will try searching out some videos.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think she's the only one doing her voice a disservice. However, she's young and has plenty of time to focus on showing the strength of her voice on later projects.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I need to get this album. I just haven't been in the mood for that style of music lately. Might just force myself to listen anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You sound like someone....can't put my finger on it just yet. Booming voice, and I agree with The DIGblackBICK [seriously, that name...lol] below, your lower range sounds tantalisingly deep.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I feel like it was an era that produced some of her best live vocals. Her MTV " Shining Through The Rain" showcase was amazing. Her "whisper" register was fuller, silkier and more harmonious with the rest of the range and I really loved that. Also, the lows were super strong during the era.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YsrEP_ji8Y

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah, Willie doesn't sound like a true bass. His voice isn't dark enough as he ascended up into the part of the song that goes "and turn the lights down low". The guy off of Pentanoix (if that's how you spell it) is a true bass, and a good one at that as well.
BUT THIS AUDITION haha, it was too funny. I guess TV shows can tear best friends apart

    ReplyDelete
  39. lol. Will try sniffing it out :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just can't with Pixie Lott. I'm not sure why...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh lord. She honestly didn't have a bad vibrato, but it sounded like she lowered her larynx so much it was painful. Like Simon said, she could be a pretty good motivational speaker or saleswoman lol...
I sorta feel bad for people who think they can sing and end up getting rejected...badly. That awkward silence was the first hint, ha.

  49. I know right. I was ROLLING the entire time; I just couldn't.

But yes, Willie is FAR from a 'Bass'. 'Bass-Baritones' are quite rare much less a true 'Bass'. Yes, Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix is indeed a 'Lyric Bass'. His voice is incredible. He has a full/modal- vocal range of F1 - F4 - astounding.

So, which version did you like best? Whitney or Mariah's? I must admit I loved the Male Whitney much much better. I can sing that song perfectly - as a Dramatic Baritone - excluding the excellent breath control throughout the last chorus.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Who did you like best DD? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think Miley is starting to calm down and ridding herself of that scandalous image that she had last year, in order to rid herself of the Hannah-image. She even said that in an interview. there you go at 6:04 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbh9j7oIWJQ

  61. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLRlO-S-AQ0 Has anyone ever seen this yet?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Brian, that was really good! You have one of the best voices out of everyone who has shared their stuff here. I see shit loads of potential! You seem shockingly young too, so I am sure you'd have lot of time to work on your talent. Plus of course the cuteness will definitely help you in future. I say, give it your all and milk it! lol. No. Seriously.

And the sound of your lower extremities is very enviable. That's a 100% signature 'male' sound that every man would love to have on themselves. Keep it up please! Will look forward to more material (covers and what not).

  65. That was lovely!

Just goes on to show why Whitney was one of the best pop vocalists.

That said, I did not really dig that 'version'. Too...churchy! lol. The bombs bursting...ummmh!...in air!...that our flag...ummhh!...was still there...oh say....ummmh! I could almost imagine people bobbing their heads, eyes closed, fists up, screeching 'oh ummhmm Whitney! Give it to me!..' no pun intended.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah, I get what you're saying, they tour SOOO extensively, she must be burnt out. I think the Ceremonials Tour concluded in September of last year, and the album came out in 2011. But I'm still really antsy for more more more! I need to work on my patience... a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I also forgot to mention Sarah McLachlan, she tried to revive Lilith Fair in 2010 I think, but it fell through. Anyway, I need her exquisite balladry back.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I actually prefer Mariah's because her singing sounds much more natural in the speaking range, whereas Whitney kindof dampens her voice a bit to get that richer sound.

    ReplyDelete
  69. How common is it for pop stars to have a vocal coach? Would say Selena, Kelly Clarkson, Adele have one?

I know she had a vocal coach during Hanna Montana days. She's also a smoker albeit she still says quitting. Not sure how much smoking effect singing but I assume it does.

Good job! I don't like males singing in alto range too much, but you did quite well :) also, I like you don't have a nasal pinched sound as it often happens to males singing constantly in that tessitura. The instrumentation though...not cute. But good vocals.

  80. You know... Many people say they're jelous of me because I'm one of those people who can eat whatever they want to and don't get fat, but, to be honest, I wouldn't mind weighing 300 pounds as long as I could have a deep voice like that o_O

    ReplyDelete
  81. Music business has been a joke for almost 10 years...

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah, I think I kinda jumped into that too quickly haha Yeah Willie is not a bass, but I have a thing against baritones too (which I knoe it's weird because I just said that I loved Brian's voice, but I actually have my reasons to hate them...) But please, saying that Holly wasn't lowering her larynx... Just by listening to her it's obvious she was doing so, but if it wasn't enough, you can just look into her mouth (which won't be too difficult considering that a basketball could fit in there) and see how her tongue is placed.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Selena im not so sure about but I know for a fact that Kelly and Adele do have Coaches. Kellys goes on tour with her and Adele sees hers periodically to ensure she won't tear up her voice again. Generally labels will recommend coaches to artists but they can't really force you to go.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I would kill to be able to eat a whole Pizza by myself and not worry about the 2 pounds I'll gain from it LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  85. She indeed had the motivation and self-confidence that is needed for the singing job, but... she couldn't sing...

    ReplyDelete
  86. What about a trade? haha TBH I don't really need this lightining-fast metabolism that I have because I already do a lot of exercise, so I wouldn't mind giving it away. By the way, you were a dramatic baritone, right? what is your vocal range?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Primo Uomo Assoluto9 February 2014 at 00:16

Vocally it's overall good, but I wonder...do you always sing in an alto and mezzo range or do you sing things more in tenor? Because, I feel if you are always singing at the top of your range...what do you do if a vocal line calls for you to soar even higher? or what if a song calls for you to show determination and strong masculinity, which (at least I) one wouldn't associate with a counter tenor. Or perhaps you do wanna be a countertenor, which is perfectly good, you certainly have top notes, I think I heard A5 there. But I would advise you also work on your middle and low registers, because the power, warmth and health of a voice is not in the very highest notes, but in the middle and low register. As your voice ages, if you keep the middle voice (D3-F4) really solid, rich, even, well produced and healthy, your voice will remain in great shape. Remember that when women sing songs like that they are singing in their middle voice, while when men sing in that tessitura (in the 5th octave) they are forcing their voices to sing in an "unnatural" range.
That's just, of course, my attempt at constructive criticism since you asked my opinion :P

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well to be honest idk if Im a dramatic anymore. My voice never really becomes steely or anything like that. I see conflicting descriptions a lot so I just go with "Deep voice" lol. My controlable range is from F2 to F#5. But I can go lower. F#5 is as high as I can sing in HV. Idk how high I can mix but Im not the best mixer.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I was gonna comment that, because even though I don't know all that much about baritones, you didn't sound like a dramatic to me. I actually think that you have a rather bright timber (although that may be due to the heavy ilumination of your vid, I make silly mistakes like that a lot...) for such a heavy and low voice, and you also have a very nice agility.

And, if I don't come across as too direct, instead of "deep voice" I'd rather say "sexy voice" lol

    ReplyDelete
  90. and now fifth harmony's easily the most successful x factor us act and is actually achieving moderate success. i honestly loved them on the show and still love them now (and am going to see them this month with demi and am going to meet them in person!)

my favorites were carly and fifth harmony, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  91. yeah, she got eliminated in the top 10 of the live shows.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Dude you sound Good! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't think smoking is really a factor in what we were talking about. It's about technical control.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Your face is under 22 years of age. You're still transitioning out of the treble stage. Don't even try to figure that out until after then and you're certainly too young to be a dramatic. You won't truly show off dramatic traits until you're 28, if you are a dramatic.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thank you very much, I appreciate it. Thank you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. There was a russian news site that was hosting the performance for a while, but that too was taken down :/ I've searched in both English and Russian, and even Spanish out of curiosity, and not a single functioning link.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Thank you very much, once again. I appreciate your criticism.

Well, according to my voice teacher, I am Leggiero Tenor because of how light (almost Girly) and extremely agile my voice is as well as my ability to execute difficult fioratura passages and coloratura skill. I often feel very comfortable singing within a Mezzo-Soprano Range & Tessitura - between G3-A5/A3-B5 - and so I suppose I am somewhat of a Counter-Tenor also. Currently, I am working on extending my lower register with my teacher (I can only go as low as C3/D3 thus far) and evening out my mid-register because I honestly feel at best when belting above B4.

As you can probably tell, my voice sounds the most masculine below F4 to which it brightens considerably on any note above that. Is this more understandable?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thank You. I'm glad you liked it. :)

  102. I'm glad. Last season felt more like a chore to watch than something I looked forward to. Two of the last three acts were so irrelevant to me that I didn't even bother watching, and I just googled who won. Aside from the winners and maybe two acts, I can't remember anyone. It's a shame because Demi, Kelly, and Simon are actually good judges and mentors (Paulina, well...) The production of the show itself seemed actually very lazy, the sound didn't sound good on TV and many past contestants said they couldn't hear themselves well, the performances itself seem gimmicky and boring even with at times, over the top staging.
And I'm glad I can focus my The Voice, in my opinion a much better show with better (actual) talent, doesn't rely on or waste time with fake silly bad auditions, and has much better production and staging, and I don't mind seeing Usher and Shakira on my screen every week either, in my opinion some of the best judges/mentors that US talent shows have seen.
    Wow I said a lot.

  103. Actually originally for Burlesque, but it didn't find a place in the movie.
I usually like Pixie's voice, but there's something about that "hey-hey" she sings in the intro that is so exceedingly hurtful to hear. And I don't feel the song as a whole, neither versions, it just doesn't have the energy or the seduction a song titled "Nasty" deserves.

  104. Range (Overall & Including Head Voice/Falsetto): C3 - A6.

    However, excluding Head Voice/Falsetto, I have a Modal [Chest & Mixed-Chest] Range of C3 - B5.

Once again, thank you Riri. : - D

  105. Not to mention his riffs and the fact that he's a babe. I just wanna reach him and Scott Hoying's level of riffing someday.

  106. Even though it was pitchy, it was fun and made me feel lighthearted and your voice is like melted chocolate to me.

  107. Fifth Harmony actually sound really good live, for a pop girl group in this day and age, they all have really distinct voices and ranges and their harmonies are pretty good. I got to see them last summer at their mall tour and they sounded basically like they did in the studio (and it was def live).
They're so sweet and kind too.

  108. The best judges in my opinion will always be Christina for the female side and Simon for the male side. Christina uses bad techniques herself but when it comes to criticism and allowing her apprentices to really expand themselves, she's on top. Simon... well, what can I say? He's Simon.

  109. I am so dumb not to try that first :|

  110. IKR! She's just not NASTEH enough. Even vocally she still sounds very timid.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Ah, I read it somewhere that it was for Lotus. Can't remember where now. Either way. I like Pixie but the way she threw her voice is not NASTEH enough for the song.

    ReplyDelete
  112. My apologies, I accidentally put down the link from a playlist and not directly from the video itself. I believe her name is Son Seung-yeon. Thank you Seren for providing the working link.

    ReplyDelete
  113. It's okay! My bad. I could have pressed the link than video but it never crossed my tiny brain :|

  114. Wow, what a great range! We have almost the same, which is very impressive on your behalf seeing as you are male!

I will be the first to admit that I have always found Lana Del Rey to be very captivating. Even back in her Lizzy Grant days before the surgeries I thought she was a stunning person. Those feelings only grew when I found this video made by a fan in the style of how Lana would make her homemade videos. The video is for the original version of Yayo from her album Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant (an album that I have been lucky to find online as well as Sirens). The way she looks in the video is very eye-catching and she is exuding some kind of positive aura.Especially in the clips where she has the fake flowers and the camera is close to her face. I always preferred this version of Yayo because it has more to it vocally and emotionally than the version on Paradise. I wonder if I'm the only one who feels this way and if not then enjoy the video haha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVHGl7f1lT0

  117. I thought of you during the show Seren. You must have enjoyed it? Especially Anna.
Sure showed Russian Culture nicely I thought. Classy and tasteful show imo

    ReplyDelete
  118. That was an awesome mash-up! And it's weird that I say that considering how much I dislike "We can't stop"

    ReplyDelete
  119. OK, I've been looking for the meaning of the word like crazy since I got here but I haven't found it, so I'm gonna have to ask the stupid question: what in the world means "pitchy"?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Generally, someone who's 'pitchy' either can't sing in key, or shifts around between different keys. This either happens when a person has to sing a' capella and sings via intervals that are slightly sharp or flat (and because they don't have an instrument to keep them grounded, their key centre goes up or down), or simply has no sense of pitch and can't hear themselves accurately. In Brian's case, it sounds like the former - he has a very assured, strong voice, but probably doesn't do too much a' capella vocals. It's a common thing for choir singers who haven't done too much solo work.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Thanks. Yes, I've always had an extremely high voice. I'm almost certain that my voice is much higher now, 10 years later, than it was when I was 14 for example. I posted another recording actually (just below this comment), what do you think? :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. Can someone tell me what the lowest note is in this ?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Really great! and believe me I do not pass around compliments lightly! I definitely agree with @Josh Sensei that you would have what it takes to get on one of those talent shows, if that would be the path you'd be interested in pursuing! I actually just got through to the "Battle Rounds" on the Voice in my country and I truly think you would stand a great chance!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Okay... I listened to both your recordings and I think your voice is STUNNING. You sound like a Male 'Jazmine Sullivan/Brandy' hybrid. Your voice is so agile & dexterous too and I, especially, love your tonality in your upper register - your High E's, F's & G's (and that brief High A you hit) carry such a High- Mezzo Soprano quality. Also, your runs/riffs/harmonies are CRAZY, CHURCH CRAZY. LOL. Good luck Bro, I wish you all the best. : - D

    ReplyDelete
  125. Wow! that was awesome (especially that run at 2:59, I lost my sh**). I wonder, do you also write your own stuff ? :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. Thanks!
I'm 19 years old. and I did musical theater in Highschool but haven't really done anything else musically live since. I'm kind of experimenting. :)

  127. Loving this... that is all!

    ReplyDelete
  128. I'm normally pretty good going acapella but songs like these that jump around from high to low then middle then back high, kind of throw me off lol.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Did you listen to his 'I Believe In You & Me' recording below? Damn... The boy can SANG. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Yes. Quite good.

Fuck I wish I could sing.

What kinda of soprano voice is she?? Not a very "pretty voice" but her technique and volume are both quite formidable. Spinto or Full-Lyric maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  132. I do like her voice, That's a short clip but she doesn't sound to have a ungly voice IMO, and she definetly has an awesome technique. About her vocal type, I'd say she's a full-lyric, although Primo and Robin's opinion will hold more weight than mine.

    ReplyDelete
  133. The bits that I was able to watch, I enjoyed. Sadly I was working at the time so I only managed to catch bits and pieces of everything. In regards to Anna, I was only able to hear her performance, and wasn't able to watch it.

  134. run, run, you bitches.

    The song is SPETACULARRRRRRR:

  136. I'll file that under "things to consider".

    Have a nice day :)

  137. Catchy electronic tune by one of my favorite electronic groups, Justice. The song was heavily inspired by Michael Jackson, and apparently is dedicated to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy1dYFGkPUE (The video is a bit odd/boring)

    ReplyDelete
  138. Well, you sound like someone with a very good voice whose key centre shifted. Most singers who don't have perfect pitch tend to shift around while doing a capella, so it's no big deal. Hell, entire choirs go a step sharp or a step flat when doing a capella if they're not listening well.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I've watched performances for all of them, but I didn't watch the entire episode until Usher and Shakira joined, as well as the recent one, I personally didn't think Christina gave any gems that really helped her team? Aside from going to yoga and picking basic songs. But maybe I'm biased against her for her own bad technique. I personally really liked Usher and I found his advice and training techniques really good and helpful, even though I was not a fan of Michelle Chamuel.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Yayo is honestly one of my favorite songs by her. I love the fragile and vulnerable quality that she can employ in her voice, and her beautiful lyrics. The subtle instrumentation is just right for this song too.

    ReplyDelete
  141. It's not exactly off key, but it's when you're singing a note, but it's not quite there, it's just a little bit off, like when you go flat or sharp. It's common for singers to go pitchy, especially in performances where they have no instruments to guide them, or no earbud to hear themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I see, well it's good to know you're still singing even as an adult.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Yaassss, slay Katy.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I'm curious, does anyone here watch Nashville? It's a musical drama, similar to Glee or Smash, but less known and geared towards country music. I actually very much enjoy the songs on the show, especially ones sung by Clare Bowen/Scarlett.

And on the subject of Smash, who watched that show before it was canceled? Because I thought that was a damn good show, and the music, both original and covers, were fantastic. Megan Hilty's voice is a force to be reckoned with. And Jennifer Hudson guest starred on a few episodes on the second season before her plotline mysteriously disappeared.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Thank you for the input. <:)

    ReplyDelete
  146. This truly makes me love Mrs Fleming.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I watch Nashville...of course ;-)
Can't say I'd give 90% of the music a listen outside of the show though. it's mostly "modern Country/rock/pop".
But I enjoy seeing the cameos and the famous places like The BlueBird and the Ryman.
But mostly I watch it for Hayden Panettiere .
I really like her character in the show and I am really enjoying seeing Hayden's excellent acting.

    NNnnngh

    ReplyDelete
  149. lol
can we stop seriously with this

nobody expects mimi to sing live anymore lets stop pretending she should, its bad for her voice and she'd bleed from her throat and make choking sounds and everyone would cry if she tried

    ReplyDelete
  150. I feel like a bitch for being horrifyingly honest, but you're welcome. You really do have a remarkably rich voice, and I'm quite impressed by the timbre.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Justice is great. MGMT is another really great artist in this genre.

    ReplyDelete
  152. lol I always get that reaction :D

    ReplyDelete
  153. I agree. I really love her character. The entire show is a great drama in itself, the plot line with her and her mother was heart wrenching for me.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Thought I would share this. Lorde covering Mama Do by Pixie Lott ( I know Diva Devotee would love this lol) when she was only 12. It was pretty dang good, too

  155. Thank you, for making me totally addicted to those *sigh*

  156. I hate the power rush it gets at the end, but the rest of the song is so peaceful... I love when singers known as belters do quite stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Ah ok I get what you say and I agree, there's nothing to her voice that makes me say "hey, that's her". I'd say "ordinary" rather than "not pretty". However, only singing other people's song does not exclude having a unique style and a beautiful voice, Boyce avenue and Alison Krauss are great examples.
