[Listen] Mariah Carey Sings "Happy Birthday" / "You're Mine" Remix Live From The Shower, Angels Cry!

Media personality B. Scott is one lucky Lamb! Not only has he gotten to star in a Mariah Carey music video- Up Out My Face- but he was also bestowed this magical gift of Mimi singing an impromptu Happy Birthday whilst apparently in the shower!

Listen to Mimi kill it vocally with belts, whispers and whistles. Maybe a shower cubicle should be a prerequisite for all her live performances from now on!

Thoughts?

  1. My thought was that again she shows off some runs in a situation outside of the "restraints" of singing a whole song. She seems t be using "improvisation" as an excuse.
Also, is she really that busy that she can't take that less than two minutes to sing to this guy on his actual birthday and first step out of the shower???
I fear next a video is going to pop up of Gaga on a toilet in vintage Versace and a home made halo above her head singing "happy Birthday" to a "friend'' while peeing or changing her tampon. "multi tasking acts of friendship with another statement on how "raped" she feels by certain other friends. ;-D
(feel free to steal that one Gaga! )

  6. I just went with the pronoun DD used as I have no idea who this person is. My generally, I will only use the pronoun she if this person is post op.
Frankly, prior to that I most definitely do not feel it appropriate to use "she".

  7. Sorry, that should have been "My view generally is"

Actually, I was joking, but it came out extra bitchy as most things I say. In America there's the joke that home depot is a lesbian club in disguise, that's what I was referring to, LOL. Because you do seem to like some female artists with more earthy/virago aesthetics, if that makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes, I knew you were joking.

I like singers for their singing.
And in spite of your stereotyping I appreciate fashion and such things whereas I suck big time at DIY except painting/sprucing up old furniture..more artistic direction as it were, I don't own any DIY tools.
My taste just happens to be a tad more refined than "gaudy".

  14. Well that cover was a dead ringer for Beyonce.... She's also one of the reasons I abandoned R&B...I hate the way it's evolving...it seems like all these new artists care about is sex and sex and sex and sex and cock and sex and sex and sex and ass and sex. Where is the value in a song if the lyricism is utter poop? And her production is rather mundane....like the tracks Rihanna didn't wanna record over so she got. And don't get me started on that voice....so not appealing.

Some of it was cringeworthy, some of it was pretty good. That F#5 in the first strain was magnificent, but the whistle notes were so out of tune lol.
She did well, and for being like 40 she did better than most. It was impromptu anyway, so I doubt she was trying her best.

I want to upvote you like 50 times lol, and then some. Standards for music have lowered so much it's gross. I'll stick with my Lauryn hill for now.

  18. She's definitely good. I just had a quick scout through her YouTube covers and followed her on instagram and watched some acapella snippets, etc, and in this video the post is about, Red Love, her upper belts and falsetto are very impressive. It's interesting because, though there are Rihanna inflections with the pronunciation and phrasing, her voice sounds like it couldn't be more opposite. She's a lyric soprano, no doubt about it. I love her runs, particularly in falsetto, and her tone throughout.

She is a LITTLE too "girly" sounding for me, the same problem I had with Tori Kelly, but she's also only 17 haha. The voice will mature into something good. I'm here for this.

Also, I really need to stop comparing people to young Mariah. "She's too girl sounding" "but she's only 18" "Mariah was 18 when she started recording Vision of Love" - it all just leads to disappointment haha.

  19. You know the only one who came close to bringing R&B back to the good old days was Jazmine Sullivan but she vanished (She's making a comeback March 31st though), and TBH, she still was bearing the weight all by herself in my eyes. Maybe there is a new artist out there I haven't heard of with a soulful voice and great lyrics but I haven't found them yet. And yes.....every thing is every thing!!!!!!!!

Also, my stepdad and I argue a lot over why I listen to so much "white music" and i tell him that I'm waiting for black people to step up to the plate and stop with the mediocrity.

    ReplyDelete
  20. thedigblackbick25 March 2014 at 23:50

Jazmine's album "Fearless" was the first album I listened by her, and it's in my top 5 right now. L&T&B was a dealbreaker for me, loved the song and the video.

Yeah, my friends judge me because of what I listen to. If I don't have the latest Gucci or Chief Keef album, I'm labeled as "not black" lol. Their music is trash (unless I use it for a workout, and even then it's remixes) and they all seem to be brainwashed. They don't remember people like Outkast? Ne-Yo? John Legend? Even Frank Ocean is a better choice..
It's so annoying, but there's not much you can do.

  21. Not that I know of. But his wikipedia page refers to him as a man and I watched a video of him explaining how he came to terms with himself being a gay man. But Seren said above that it's oaky to call him a he or she so he just give zero fucks lol.

  22. I agree completely. 'Traditional- R&B (Rhythm & Blues)' ended in the 1970's to which it then gave birth to 'Contemporary R&B' in the 1980's - 'Prince, Michael Jackson & Whitney Houston' helped usher this in but, all in all, it was Janet Jackson as well as her famed producers 'Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis' who took 'Urban- Contemporary' music to a whole different stratosphere. The early 1990's is when R&B singers/artists started to incorporate and merge Hip-Hop influences and stylings into the genre - Mary J Blige, T.L.C, Toni Braxton & Mariah Carey namely.

Today, we have "R&B" artists trying to replicate the Hip-Hop aspect of R&B that the 1990's had thus giving way to the inauthentic mediocrity that is 'Keyshia Cole, Trey Songz & Ciara'. At this moment in time, there are few R&B artists sticking to the genre and keeping it alive.

Moreover, "Hip Hop Soul" is not R&B. "Neo Soul" is not R&B. "Black Pop" is not R&B. "R&B/Hip-Hop" is not R&B. There is a lot a fusion music being made but just because it is being sung by a person with brown skin, that does not make it R&B. I have not heard much in the way of new "R&B" music that I am willing to spend my hard earned money on. The last new "R&B" CD I bought was probably back in 2009 and it was made by a woman who was dropped by her major label after her first single and video did not perform as they felt it should have. As far as I'm concerned, the R&B genre is slowly-but-surely dying.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree. But look at the bright sight...No more music from Gucci main...That complete and utter embodiment of the black people stereotype beat a man to death in his prison cell for licking his ice cream tatoo on his face....so I heard. And I got into an argument with a dude a while back over why I don't listen to rap and his logic as to why is because I didn't have to struggle and hustle in the big city and since I'm a country boy, rap doesn't appeal to me....I was like no....many of us "country boys" indulge heavily in thug ass music so that wasn't logical. I asked him did he listen to music that connects on a more intellectual basis and he took it soooooo far up his ass... He thought I was saying that rap music is not for intelligent people but, I already established that I respect rap and what it has...consequently turned into but I was referring to actual music that is song because that is what I prefer to listen to.... To put it plainly, I got cursed out by someone who didn't respect my music tastes and thought I didn't respect theirs. So that ship was a lost cause and I just let him have it.... It seemed like it was hard for him to swallow the fact that I'm black but think rap music has digressed. Its also funny how mad people can get over differing opinions, which is why I don't voice mine unless it's an open response/conversation or I get asked about it. LOL

  31. The belts sounded nice, it's better than what most people would've whipped up impromptu. And I'm sure Mariah didn't make it for the intention for everyone to hear, but it's actually not too bad. I'm happy, because she's come so far since Good Morning America last year.

    ReplyDelete
  32. DD, can I just commend you for featuring all my favorite lesser known divas recently? I'm absolutely in love with Sevyn, ever since I got her EP, it won't stop (REFERENCE) playing on heavy rotation on my iPod.
The cover is amazing too, I actually never bothered to look up her live performances, so it's nice to know that she's got the live pipes to back her up, as well as being well-educated on how to work that body, yass honey.

    ReplyDelete
  33. While I love Jazmine Sullivan, I think that it's not bad at all that artists (particularly female) are feeling more comfortable singing about sex. And of course they aren't all solely singing about it either, Bey's had plenty of songs on her latest album that aren't about sex, and her past albums barely have had any. We've come from a culture where we call women left and right sluts for feeling human emotions that everyone has, where males prance around shirtless with their pants halfway down their ass, spilling out vulgarities and disrespectful language, but they're still praised as cool and talented. I don't think Drunk in Love is half as bad.
I won't argue with you on the production, lyrics, and voice, and I'm just putting in my two cents, what you think isn't wrong, because hey, we all have our own opinion. (:

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't really get much of a Rihanna vibe either. But I do love Pia, I've been following her YouTube for a while, she has fantastic runs, and as someone who's the same age as her, I'm incredibly jealous of her skills. I'm really happy that YouTube is becoming more and more of a platform for young artists will great voices and singing skills to get attention. And I'm really excited to see what more Pia has to offer to the mainstream world.

  35. Ugh, as usual the people on here are digging at the bottom of the barrel, desperately trying to find something negative to say about Mariah's amazing vocals.

  36. the reason i think why the British acts dominated music sales for the past 7 years globally. I think Pop, rap, rnb, and hiphop music generally are all about sex, violence, etc. Why is America so HORNY?????????????? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't really like the song, but the vocals are great, I want to see her perform this live.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I couldn't possible advice you on that Joshy. I would say it depends how you view the world etc.
I am just going with how I see it.I am also not one inclined to play along in people's fantasies.
As a woman,a lesbian and a feminist I see what is "a woman" and "a man" in a certain way. As a realist I say chromosomes make your sex.

I find it an insult to my womanhood if a man thinks simply dressing as a woman makes him a woman..(or a woman thinking simply dressing as a man makes her a man for that matter). In fact, in my mind even post-op you are still a post-op transsexual rather than a woman or a man.
And frankly, I think we should simply view this as a third (ideally equal but then again, women already aren't fully viewed as equal to men so.....)sex rather than forcing a transsexual into one of two roles.

Hence it is only the thought of the commitment, pain and risks involved in a string of operations which will lead me to play along and change the pronoun post-op. But that is absolutely the sole reason.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well aren't I blessed in that case...primo is "cool" with me. LOL
But actually I simply meant legally distance to Germany bears no relationship on anything.

  40. I must apologize. I'm taking out my lack of a sex life out on Se7ven Lol... As for Jazmine... Girl is equally as nasty.... She has enough sex songs and inuendos to make an entire album dedicated to it. Lol. And don't get me wrong, I love me a good nasry song... I just don't like the brain washing effect is has on people (me). And plus, Beyonce has completely raised the bar on sex songs. Blow, rocket, partition....they are all on repeat. In fact blow and partition will be choreographed this summer for my dance team. I mean, even my favorite sex songs from the past (your dog is about to kill my cat- Ms. Jody) doesn't move me the way Partition does... When I choreograph this for my team, it is gonna be so damn nasty!!!!!! Lol, I'm such a hypocrite....

  41. It is sad for sure. And vocally, they were on a different level back then. I swear every woman from the 70s could belt a B5 and every man a Eb5 at the minimum. Plus we had more diversity in voices back then. Like me personally, I'd never make it as a pop artist, because my voice doesn't suit pop. It barely suits R&B either. And I have a little treat for you too. I recorded a old school R&B style song but I'm still processing it. It good except my melismatic injections... They make me lose stamina and sound so robotic on top of an already raspy voice. But even though I was aiming for R&B, it came out rather Gothic. I also have another song which, is...it just shows how damn weighty my voice is and the natural stringy timbre characteristic of colder spintos. I still hate my timbre, and wish it was light enough to successfully pull of R&B. I guess I only can say I'm heavily influenced by R&B.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Because they are sexually repressed Joshy. Christian influence.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Really? I remember those years as a time people complaining R&B meaning Rap & Black and moaning the loss of "real" R&B. Of course those were people who already were grown up and therefor grew up with another definition of R&B

    ReplyDelete
  44. People are a product of their time and I think that's what makes music so exciting - it also explains the lyrical content of their music, to an extent. Everything evolves and changes and that should be true for genres too. To have any young person making rnb that sounds similar to that which was around in the 'golden years' of the genre is going to sound inauthentic and poserish. Besides, most artists either want to be current or see themselves as innovating, both things that don't come from mimicking the past. I'm just glad there are people keeping the tourch burning for the genre. Who knows what its next evolution will be!

    ReplyDelete

  50. So why is it an insult to you if one dresses the opposite sex? i met a handful of transgender and they all talk about how they are not happy with the body they were given and I have also met a few who had operation and they were all happy and all smiles. Still great insight, that's very admirable. I'm still confuse though. :3 maybe I'll just refer to them as how they present themselves

  52. That is not what I said at all! I don't care how someone dresses. I said I find it an insult if someone thinks just dressing like a woman, makes you a woman. That would mean if I don't wear a dress and high heels, suddenly I am no longer a woman???
Do you get confused about whether to say he or she when you see a girl wearing a jeans and t-shirt?

    ReplyDelete
  53. LOL What I feel should be has little to do with mainstream USA I am sorry to say. I feel people should stop having an issue with sex, especially sex they aren't involved in and is between consenting adults, and start having a way bigger issue with violence towards other living things and the destruction of nature in general.
I feel in general people "should" be more balanced.
But I certainly feel mainstream music should be saturated with "mature" content. Rather than be aimed at the 15 to 24 market as it is now. ;-)
And I am always for diversity over homogeneity.

    ReplyDelete
  54. No im referring to as what you're saying now, sorry it's my fault. And i think when someone acts and dresses their opposite sex, it is natural then that they feel different. Not usually to the full extent but in some degree or higher

    ReplyDelete
  55. i had the expectation of her just being another trashy singer.

After I heard her, I started to think she may actually have some talent. Let's see if she keeps her talent along the way or start spiraling to something horrible as per usual...

    ReplyDelete
  56. The standard of "R&B/Soul" (1960 - 1980) whether male or female, was MUCH higher than it is today.

The majority of (though not all) Soprano's & Mezzo-Soprano's were consistently belting 'G5 - B5' notes and Tenor's & Baritone's were consistently belting 'G4 - B4/C5 - Eb5/E5' notes; Barry White, a 'Dramatic- Bass Baritone', developed a highly adept mixed voice, through rigorous vocal training, and was frequently belting A4's and hitting solid & resonant D2's in the same breath.

From a technical standpoint, today, the number of Male R&B/Soul singers of whom actually utilize their lower & mid-registers accordingly and Females of whom can actually sustain long passages in their upper register are few and far in between - they're all alto's, to say the least.

R&B, as a genre, may be "evolving into modern times", as they say, but - vocally & artistically speaking - where's our 'Al Green, Sam Cooke, Luther Vandross, Peabo Bryson, Jackie Wilson, Otis Redding, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, Smokey Robinson, Teddy Pendergrass & Prince' etc.

John Legend, D'Angelo, Raheem DeVaughan, Frank Ocean, Jahiem & Anthony Hamilton' are the only ones that come close...

    ReplyDelete
  57. So what you are saying is that you think one should accept whatever someone define him/herself as, as being reality?
Well in that case, it seems your choice is obvious. You should use the pronoun they want you to use, however incorrect it may factually be. I don't understand why you were confused in the first place in that case,

    ReplyDelete
  58. So far, "It Won't Stop" is one of the only songs i like. For some reason, her voice in BANS sounds too fragile, and not in the good way.So far, I like how these songs aren't meant to be sung with. I feel these songs are songs I can listen to whilst encoding, just enjoy the beat to keep me going. But I don't feel like I will listen to them outside of work aside from it won't stop.

  61. She sounded particularly heady for most of it but it was still amazingly better than some of the terrible live performances she's done recently. The belt was pretty good too. The head note at the end though sounded a bit throaty. Love ya Mimi.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The best look she has ever done in my opinion is the mermaid look from Applause. She's showing some skin and some really killer body shots and the less dramatic makeup shows off her natural features. Also dark Blonde isn't a bad look for her.

  63. You are .....within two minds it would seem.

  67. Damn DD you just went hard here. This was a damn good comment though, I actually wouldn't mind more thinkpieces like this from you haha.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Was that Mariah's head voice that I heard? Because those notes actually sounded connected and not whispery...

    ReplyDelete
  69. Omg yeeessss. I sang and did a choreo to Partition and I swear that song gives me LIFE. The whole attitude of it just brings out a lioness in me.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I adore this girl, I might have been praising Sevyn but Jessica just KILLED it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Unfortunately I don't have any recording of it. But it was predominately hip-hop, with a lot of waacking involved, which I have a penchant for. I guess that would be what I'd describe my dancing as, idk I just do what I want lol. And damn, I WISH i had the skills to pull off a good tut.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sounds pretty good coming from a string of not so good/no existent live performances. This is i would take over a lip synch ANY day

    ReplyDelete
  74. Tutting...Um.... you just gotta practice and practice, and practice. That's the only way I went from being atrocious to mediocre. LOL. But popping is my calling. I won't even get started on twerking.... I'll just send you a link to my instagram page on our senior trip because twerking is all me and my girls are gonna do. LOL.

I also came up with a tut and pop choreo for "honeymoon avenue" because, as much as a hate the lyrics, I love the instrumentation.

    ReplyDelete
  76. She's good but her voice sounds way to close to Beyonce's!

  77. It turns out the phone being waterpoof was a result of the incredibly tight unibody design but at least they can market it as such. It doesn't have any true IP certification or anything... and another ridiculously impressive thing about this phone is the battery life. HTC decided to go with a more expensive Li-Po battery rather Li-Ion which happens to be more cell dense and can hold a charge for longer...it also discharges more efficiently and has incredible longevity in the long haul. It clocks in at around 2600 mAh which is below the standard because most batteries clock in at like 3000+ mAh. However most batteries tend to be Li-Ion which aren'te as efficient as Li-Po so a 2600 mAh Li-Po batter can give the battery performance of a 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery, such as the one in the Galaxy Note 3 and the LG G Pro 2.

But still, no phone can match the Nokia Lumia 1520's endurance mark... 107 hours on GSMArena's custom battery test? I think the HTC One Maxx comes second, followed by the Alcatel One Touch Hero (One of my favorite phones from quite the underdog).

The camera on the M8 though disappoints...like why can't HTC get shit right?

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm trying to practice, but being from a family that doesn't support any form of performing arts, it's hard to find the opportunity haha.

  79. growing up with a really sexually repressed country, i kinda have an idea what will be our future and that will be total sexual liberation. Priests here are just everywhere, they practically stop everything. I remember when Gaga went here and a priests (i think it was an archbishop or someone in a high position) called her demonic and held a protest LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  80. i know, she didn't sound like this in the previous years so i was astounded. But i think partly why they sound the same is that beyonce has now a darker timbre and this girl has a natural dark timbre. Also Beyonce is her diva so she's still trying to sound like her

    ReplyDelete
  81. i was referring to her younger market so if that was a shade, i rebuke it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. LOL i just read this and i do know some things about the columns or pillars. i watched a fricking 1 hour documentary of that in national geographic. well i have to admit though on the engineering level i have zero knowledge on that

    ReplyDelete
  83. LOL Well color my face red Joshy. :-(
That was a poor illustration in that case but I still think the general point stands.

    ReplyDelete
  84. That's hilarious and also very typical of religion to be that hypocritical. To be up and bothered with Gaga visiting a country known for it's sex tourism and a poverty so severe some parents sell out their little children to that sex industry. For Pete sake! At least Gaga didn't come there to engage in pedophilia! *rolls eyes*

    ReplyDelete
  85. Happy Birthday Mariah!!!!!!!!! im the first one to greet you ;)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Are you seriously suggesting because there are some filthy perverts in an area other people there can't find fault with anything else? Lady Gaga pushes perverse things upon the world like homosexuality and fornication but because theres pedophiles out there people have to sit silently? Do you know those people don't also have a problem with pedophiles? Do you know that they don't also speak out against that? Have you sat in their churches and listened to their preaching? Just because SOME people are depraved doesn't mean ALL people have to be. Do they have to focus on one sin at a time or perhaps cover them all as they see them coming? Perhaps they are unhappy with what's going on there already and they see this woman coming to push more problems upon them and spoke out against it. Maybe they think they already have enough on their plate? My church most certainly wouldn't condone pedophilia just like it wouldn't condone any other sin. So don't make sweeping generalizations about all religion being "hypocritical." We speak out against all of them to warn our neighbors their sin is leading them into hell (the definition of love thy neighbor). Just because Gaga didn't go their to engage in pedophilia doesn't mean she won't be joining the pedophiles in hell. God said not to teach people to err through word or deed. She does both! Christs message was clear "repent or perish."

What I was suggesting was that this priest should maybe be as vocal about what goes on in his country EVERY day as he is about a pop star flying in with her entourage, probably hardly have any contact with the local population, singing a few tunes and flying out again.

As for whether the Catholic church has a problem with pedophilia? By all accounts...not very much.

And yes, I have heard such priest preach. As I hear you right now.

And sweetie, there are no gods so RELAX!

Also dear, you cannot push homosexuality on straight people but personally I am 100% for homosexuality AND fornication. :-)

This is why i try to donate as much as i can to charities, these children badly need it yet these priests live a glamorous lifestyle. There was a recent news about a Healing priest (more pretentious than gaga apparently) who's living his life to the fullest due to huge amount of donations he has been receiving because of what he was and still doing, which is the alleged 'healing." You should see the videos of him healing people, it is pure comedy. ;)

  101. She is actually more than a capable singer (At least to me), Idk what she been on lately. Capable singer to me means basic, average. I think she's above average, but she hasn't been consistently lately. Ever since she got with Chris Brown her voice has changed. She kinda sounds like a female Chris to me. But when she was in RichGirl she really SANG! You can listen to the few "Swagger Right" performances, she slayed her parts easily. The ease of her belts, the runs, all of it. For example here (starting @ around 1:39): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY7sWnBl-Cs , and here (2:38 and starting again at 2:47-2:52). Bad audio & video, but you can hear her enough): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jEzqXFuZa8 . She has some recent good performances to like Aaliyah's "Come On Over" cover, Toni Braxton's "You Mean the World To Me" (cover)", Rap-Up Sessions Usher "Climax" Cover. You can find these all on YouTube.

Anyways...well aware this world is full of extremely perverted religious nutters.

  117. My best friend is a transexual, and it is proven transexuals have chromosome imbalances and hormonal imbalances as well as gender dysphoria that has their brains wired differently than their original sex. So they MUST go under hormonal treatment and in some cases surgery.

B scott is not a transexual, he is a transgender... To be a transexual must have to undergo the secondary characteristic changes, dressing up like a woman does not make one a transexual...

Transgender is the umbrella for transvestites, cross dressers, gender androgynous, drag queens.

transexuals are not only presenting the nature of their gender identity but also going trough a sexual metamorphosis...

THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE between B. scott and someone like Chaz Bono (transexual).

  119. Chromosomes don't make up the person's gender and sex.

That is one factor to identifying sex, but when true transexuals have chromosome defects and hormonal imbalances and a brain wired like their opposite gender, then sex has a different way to be analyzed.

Look at jamie lee curtis for example who is born as a female and has male chromosomes...

Your DNA and chromosome make up is not as perfect as you think. And when other factors affect you sexuality and gender dysphoria one has to accept chromosomes is not the proper way to determine ones TRUE sex.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yes he is a just simply gender androgynous...

    ReplyDelete
  121. The other effects are a result of the chromosomes.

As for Jamie lee Curtis..that is one of those urban myths which have not been substantiated by her and imo the decent thing to do would be to not spread that rumor around as if it is a fact.

I did not state anything about anything being "perfect".
And no, I will not accept just anything. There are also people suffering from body dysphonia who feel they shouldn't have been born with two legs.

The crux of my comment was my reply to Joshy on who I would address with the female pronoun. I answered that question and explained why.
I did not make any statements to the effect that "all should follow my lead". I was in fact very careful in making sure I did not.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I never underestood why so many singers cover their ears when they hit a high note. Is there a particular reason?

    ReplyDelete
  123. yeah, you can hear the rasp at some points.

    ReplyDelete
  124. the whistle was indeed out of tune... still I enjoyed the whole raggedy/ thrown togetherness of it

    ReplyDelete
  125. Not surprised she's gone with a budget considering how the first single went! I'd have filmed it with my phone camera if I were her.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Apparently its easier to hear yourself. Maybe it has something to do with where the sound is being generated.

    ReplyDelete
  127. If she sees that, she will cut you!! Last I heard, she calls them "anniversaries" ...

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yeah, I thought of something like this. I know that putting two big papercards right before your ear you can hear your speaking voice the same way the others hear it, so maybe this works in a similar way.

    ReplyDelete
  129. That fire was indeed a low-budget one lol

    ReplyDelete
  130. @Nicolet Foster @Joshy Sensei @everyone who is wondering how to address Bscott, pronoun wise, he states it all here. He refers to himself as a "gay man" and is not transitioning, nor does he want to. No grey area here!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrnhFoPpBmE

    ReplyDelete
  131. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrnhFoPpBmE no ambiguity here; he is a man. :)

    ReplyDelete
  132. I wasn't in a grey area but aside from all that...I like him. He puts it all well. :-)
    Also he is gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  133. It's because not only does it help focus the sound for your ear (adds a resonating chamber and potentially fine-tunes any issues you may have with inner pitch), but also if you cup your hand, though Mariah isn't doing so in this photo, you can actually get the sound directly from your mouth to your ear. So yeah...it's the whole hearing thing. As a singer, I use this trick in choir and when I sing solo.

    ReplyDelete
  134. WAIT. DID ANYONE CATCH THAT F#5 AT 44 SECONDS?! DID MARIAH JUST BELT A PERFECTLY CLEAR F#?

    ReplyDelete
  135. The fact is many biological born women and men still have the opposite chromosomes or imbalance. Scientific proven fact. And many women besides Jamie lee curtis have tested and found out they had male chromosomes. This is still a scientific phenomenon that cannot be fully explained.

Also during an autopsy the brain of a transexual woman was identical to the brain of a biological woman with no similarities to a biological man. Proven scientific fact stated by Harry Benjamin.

A post op woman would be a woman. Transsexual is the gender dysphoria not the gender of such, I hope you know that.

A transexual post op woman would still be a female. Regardless of biological sex of birth.

    ReplyDelete
  136. A person's perspective of themselves and their gender and sexuality is just as validated as your own. In other words...

them liking the opposite clothes and strutting like a supermodel is not any different from a man liking another man.

If it feels wrong to you it says more about you than anything else just like many people think you being gay is wrong.

In many cultures transsexuality is perfectly normal and homosexuality is punishable by death.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Fact is that I am not denying any of that. I have no idea what you are arguing here.
Again, I hold the view that being a woman is more than just wearing certain clothes. In my view being a woman is shaped by society they grow up in as well as by their physical being.
Therefor, the only point I will ,out of politeness, use the female pronoun is post-op.
But no, in my mind, a post-op transexual woman is not a woman in the same way a born woman is a woman.
If you view it differently, we differ in opinion. That's all.

    ReplyDelete
  138. The rasp never really bothers me. I mean it's been there forever. What bothered me was how little kid like her voice started becoming at the higher runs...that was just weird lol.

    ReplyDelete
  139. You mean Body dysmorphia...

Body Dysmorphia is a physiological disease that one suffers trough traumatic or conflicted experiences, trough society, people or family.

Gender Dysphoria is something one is born with due to the natural imbalance of biology.

These are two very different things and I really hope your not putting them side by side.

    ReplyDelete
  140. And ps if you "love" Jamie all that much, maybe you should show the respect of not spreading rumors about her which she herself denies to be true? Because until you now claimed this, I had for instance never even heard that rumor.

Also, tastes differ... I personally find far her from gorgeous tbh and to claim she is "one of the greatest actresses" seems a ludicrous claim to me.

    ReplyDelete
  141. She may have made a nice cover, but nobody lives a Beyonce song like... http://vinescope.com/guys-love-beyonce-way-more-than-females-1378.html

    ReplyDelete
  142. Actually we do not know enough about either to claim such theories as "fact".
You are free to hope. They say it springs eternal in Man's breast.

And yes, thanks, I indeed of course meant dysmorphia. My bad! Disphonia is of course something entirely different.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Now can you please go and try pick a fight with someone else? Thanks :-)

    ReplyDelete
  144. You know. I think there might be some merit to this.

People think impromtu and random belts are as hard, but from my own singing and thinking about it, I'd say it's not.

Live, she has to sing the whole song. She has to keep a mid belt for the whole thing almost. She does so here but they are apart by about 10 seconds of her then whispering to relax her voice. Then a big belt again, but it gets swallowed short and she rebounds.

She's good at making her flaws minimized with improv. She's even admitted it jokingly on Oprah. Unfortunately, unless it's a song where she doesn't have a strong of belts, we probably won't get this live :(

    ReplyDelete
  145. Notes that are particularly difficult to hit, especially whistle register which tends to not be loud at all, tend to be easier to achieve when you can hear yourself more clearly. The ear thing for most singers is a gimmick to make yourself look like a better singer (ahem* Aguilera Cough Cough*) since the note is "Oh so high" but some use it to actually hear themselves better.

    ReplyDelete
  146. TBH I am kind of surprised since the thought struck me, as a non singer, that this is a tactic and one that seems to have gone unnoticed by all the singers on this blog. Or maybe it was a deliberate ignoring? ;-D

    ReplyDelete

  148. Primo Uomo Assoluto28 March 2014 at 23:19

I absolutely adore Christina's perception of what she thinks African American musical culture is. It is so minstrel show, so exaggerated. Her whole style of singing strikes me as minstrel show, like, she sees an element of a style used by African American vocalists and just exaggerates it so much. It's amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  149. To hear themselves better or most of the time to press the ear piece when they sing live to hear the monitors better...

    ReplyDelete
  150. Actually gender dysmorphia has been studied and have advanced scientific methods to treat them.

That is why many cultures due to scientific studies allow them to accept transexual women (including muslim countries) to accept this out of religion, with all the facts proven by science.

You claim to be a realist, so read up on the subject and the scientific facts behind it.

It's mind blowing to say "You will not entertain anyones fantasy" As if someone who represent their gender differently is a choice, just because you don't agree with it and feel that there is freewill behind it.

This statements coming from a lesbian where your kind has been persecuted, killed, burned alive, outcasted and hanged because people thought your lifestyle was a choice and a sin is blowing me away.

    ReplyDelete
  151. yes but as woman i also know each woman is different.

Who is to say there is one form of woman when there are millions of us walking this planet.

I personally don't define a woman by how they are born but how they mature.

A post op is still no less of a woman than you.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Why are you assuming that making such examples of people with chromosome defects is a bad thing?

Do you have problems with people with chromosome defects???

No Jamie lee denied being a Hermaphrodite, Chromosome defects does not take ones ability to still have womanly cycles or give births, and does not mean one is born with two genitals.

Well i did not make up this claims out of thin air... So if I made a mistake then I may have been mislead by a 20 year allegation. So then I apologize to Jamie if she ever sees this and if she is ever offended( I don't think she would be offended)

Only someone who views people born different with chromosome defects would...

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  157. he is gorgeous...

    ReplyDelete
  158. That statement is a bit old DD.
There's an interview (recent) where B says, "I had a reluctance to label myself period. People have yet to truly
accept transgender people, and I am so aware of that. There is just so
much work that needs to be done. For a while it’s like I wanted to just
be gay because I wanted to be part of the acceptance of gays in America.
I asked myself so many times, “Do I really want to make my journey
harder?” I feel like Sophia in The Color Purple: “All my life I
had to fight!” Because of my experience with BET, it led me to the
realization that I am transgender because of my gender identity and
expression. It was specifically because of my gender – not my sexuality –
that made me a target and I realized that I am not alone in this
discrimination and treatment as a trangender person."
However, B isn't transitioning, personally feels "in between" and says that either pronoun is perfectly fine.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Well marriage should come first before anything else...

So I admire Shakira for respecting that.

    ReplyDelete
  160. That is sad that society is still so close minded, feel bad for B Scott.

A transexual is the only one going to transition. So He would be appropriate unless he specifically states call me this.

He is not a transexual therefore he is still part of the GLBT for being transgender. A transexual is not recognized as being part of the umbrella in the GLBT, since most transexuals are heterosexual unless a transexual is homosexual.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I personally don't exactly agree that marriage comes very first, because I believe a career and one's personal goals can come before, It's understandable, but I feel like when he marries someone in the entertainment industry, he should understand that sometimes acting just comes with the territory. Of course it's perfectly doable to create great music videos without love interests too, I feel like he could be more understanding, and trust her enough to not be jealous of random men who are only acting with her.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Sociology and psychology are not hard sciences. Biology is and biological we don't have enough data. That is because a lot of this is literally "in the mind".

I am sure it is "mind blowing" to you but then, so much is eh?

But here's the thing, unlike you trying to tell me and Joshy how to think or talk, I am not telling you so.
I am telling you only how I see it. I have read and thought about the subject and here is where I stand.
I will not call a "he" a "she" (or vice versa) prior to that person having had the surgery. Even then I will only use "she" out of respect for having gone through that much effort. But that person will still in, my in my mind, not be a woman but a post-op transsexual instead.
Just like a person can utterly believe to be Napoleon, have the appropriate plastic surgery but still not be Napoleon. And France will still be a republic.
Frankly I don't care how many sociological and psychological studies state that this person truly believes to be Napoleon and how autopsy after his death will prove there to be no significant difference between his brain and that of Napoleon. (as it would because that is how little we in actuality can, scientifically, tell any difference in autopsy).

Lesbian is not a "kind" as there is a similar problem with that determination... CHOOSING to live and present oneself as a lesbian, does not necessarily mean one is a born lesbian. There are many women who do so out of psychological reasons.

Now, I do not say a transsexual should be killed, burned alive, outcast or hanged. Nor am I saying it is a "sin". Your insinuation is misplaced and actually rather offensive.

I say, clearly some people truly feel they are not male/female in spite of the genitalia they were born with. And in many cases there is physiological fact to show they are correct in feeling thus.
However much though such a person may focus on the view that this proves they are not what they seem to be, there is always an equal amount of fact going to them not really being the opposite sex either.

Therefor I say they are a mixture, a third sex as it were. And that imo should be accepted by our society as such and as equal to the male and female sex.

    ReplyDelete
  163. To me "she" is.
You can define it however you want.

Stop telling me you have the definitive answer to this and I should accept that. You are like one of those evangelical christians trying to force people into their world view.
Fact is...you are simply following certain soft "science" theories. They are representing a view, not a fact.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I am not assuming that, society is. And so do you as you are the one who keeps claiming those chromosomes to be "unbalanced" or "defect". Words which suggest something to be "wrong".

I am simply saying this is rumor surrounding a person who herself denies that to be a fact. To disregard her own words and continue to spread this rumor around as if it is a fact, is generally considered to be disrespectful.
Not only to that person in question but to the person you are using it to. Because it means you are falsely presenting a rumor asif a valid argument.
It does not matter what it exactly is you are falsely claiming about a person. The point is a general one.

The only bigoted one really in this whole discussion on the subject is you. Against anybody who doesn't share your exact view.

And btw did you not once claim if a remark was not specifically directed at me, I should not be bothered by it? Why are you so busily defending a particular view on transsexuals? Guess, going by your own thinking, if you are this bothered with the way you think I view transsexuals, you must be one? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  165. Thank you! ^^ BTW, now that you comment it, can falsetto and whistle be operatically projected the same way as chest and head voice?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Don't worry, I also like that song haha I actually love Katy Perry's voice and also like some of her songs, it's just that I hate how terribly bad she's live... But yeah, the fire in that video kinda destroyed it, although fortunately it is not shown as much as in Shakira's video.

BTW, @Joshy Sensei the visuals in that video is what I actually call glamurous.

Well, Shakira is Latin AND Arab, so...that's a double whammy when it comes to submission to your husband. You know? But I don't think it's truly a matter of obeying her husband, it's more of a complicity they share, and only those inside the couple can understand each other.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Primo Uomo Assoluto29 March 2014 at 10:14

Well, there are some studies that have shown that transgender people do have a feminized/masculinized brain, they are literally "trapped in the wrong body".
That said, I find most transsexuals kinda gross, unless they are very beautiful like Andrej Pejic, who might be just queer instead of transgender.

  175. Again, those are sociology/psychology studies. Such studies also will show some women have "masculine" minds. They also suggest a correlation between length of fingers and such "masculine" minds.
And it is the mind such studies occupy themselves with, rather than the brain.
"trapped in the wrong body" is a mind construct.

But like I said, I am not denying the condition transsexual exists. I am saying I view it as being a third sex.

And I find nothing "gross" about it or about transsexuals.
Unlike what Nicolet assumes based on her limited understanding of my view, I actually, much like born homosexuals, consider them simply an aberration from the norm such as there are millions of examples in nature.
It is to me not a matter of "good" or "bad", "right" or "wrong", "perfect" or "imperfect"., "balanced" or "unbalanced".
It is simply a matter of natural fact. It is how nature works.

  176. Well, tbh I don't know how she tells the story. If she describes it as "obeying her husband", it destroys any respect from my side.
But if she says she chooses to not engage in certain activities because it is something which upsets someone she loves, that makes it a somewhat different attitude.
(though personal I would still feel I, in her case, would sooner tell my partner to realize their jealousy is an issue within them and to deal with it within themselves LOL).
Anyway tbh it is all academic to me seeing as I couldn't care one way or the other about Shakira. Not a fan, not a hater, just not interested really.

  177. Same difference Leith. I'd feel the same way. That is why I used "any person" and " another person" in my second sentence there.

  178. I often wonder how much he confuses heterosexuals, male and female. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  179. Yeah yeah, I know you meant both sexes. Just wanted to make things clear in case anybody jumped because of it.(And because I yesterday had an argument with one of those extreme feminists I told you and I felt like I needed to post it)

  182. Falsetto lacks any real cord closure so you won't be able to project it operatically like a good head or chest note. Whistle however varies depending on how it's produced. From what I understand Whistle can be produced in one of three ways. Through pushing your falsetto to its limits (Christina and Ariana), Through projecting a very high extended Head Note (Joan Sutherland, Sumi Jo, Natalie Dessay), and by using the whistle register which is achieved by accessing the very top edges of the vocal folds without dragging the whole voice or even head voice with it (Minnie. Mariah, Kelly Clarkson). As far as actual projection goes only very extended head voice has any operatic potential. Whistle register in itself can be "Loud" but it lacks enough resonance to truly be "projected" over an orchestra. I always say falsetto whistles are an amateurs way of emulating a true whistle user. Falsetto whistles can be impressive but they lack the clarity and quality of true whistles. I THINK that Falsetto whistles however can be louder than regular whistles. Im not too sure though.

  183. It's not about obeying the husband...

If a marriage requires for mutual respect, and the husband does not want her making videos with a guy, he probably won't be making videos with girls...

    ReplyDelete
  184. I don't think asking your wife to not do sexy videos with men is a mistrust thing.

Respect is mutual, and the only issue I will ever have in this scenario is if the husband does the same thing he asked her not to do, like making sexy videos with women.

If it's done mutually with respect then its not a double standard.

    ReplyDelete
  185. I can watch this for a few hours.....LOL

    ReplyDelete
  186. Yes really. You forget I am not a man. Such images do not hold the sway over me they hold over men. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  187. Shakira already had her goals and career intact before her marriage.

Family will always come first, her career is still there wether she does sexy videos with men or not, so if the husband wants them to respect each other and she agrees, it's her marriage and his and that is their mutual respect for each other.

She broke into the US music industry with "whenever, wherever" and I did not see any sexy men in that video. That kind of prop is not necessarily needed nor will it affect her career. We don't know what his intentions are for asking her to not do videos with men, but we can't always assume it's jealousy. He is a multi millionaire, good looking, successful, athlete. I doubt that is the case.

    ReplyDelete
  188. And that would be a case of him deciding for her and himself.
Now I do not believe you are Shakira? Therefor your reply is completely pointless as it is to a comment covering that angle and stating it depends on how Shakira actually puts it. Not how you put it in your continuing effort to pick fights with me.

    ReplyDelete
  189. LOL Okay, got ya!
But I just had to respond for much the same reason.
Especially since there's one person active in this thread who insists on misunderstanding mine (and many others' as it transpires) comments and keeps responding with pointless "responses".

"tiresome" is the adjective which springs to mind for that individual.

    ReplyDelete
  190. well that is what many of the 60 percent of divorced people have said as well... lol...

Career and goals are very important, but in my belief once you made a commitment to your partner, I do believe at some point your priorities change or should...

    ReplyDelete
  191. I agree he is gorgeous!!!!!

    But he not a transexual...

Transexual is not the same as transgender, so he could very well be transgendered, i think he is. Transexuals are the ones that look like women, and have lived permanent as a woman trough scientific methods of permanent feminization...

I think your grossed out by the cross dressers and drag queens and transvestites... those would be transgenders...

    ReplyDelete
  192. never stated you were "grossed out by them"

I simply think you have a one minded thinking of gender... Or what a woman is, since you being a lesbian feminist would very unwomanly to many people and cultures as well...

    ReplyDelete
  193. My remarks on "gross'. were ,one would think incredibly obviously, a
response to what Primo said to me. A comment of which I used the reply
function. In order to respond to HIM!
The part related to your comments was the one were I point out that I do not consider the chromosomes of transsexuals to be "imperfect" or "unbalanced".

Yes, you would think that because, like I DID say about your understanding of my view...it is limited.
In light of your recent responses I will amend that statement to it being "extremely limited".

Almost every response to other people's comments in this thread go to why I criticize your lack of comprehension of the English language. It is incredibly tiresome how they are almost all beside the point or meaningless and rarely in response to what the other actually posted.

Once again it is driven home abundantly how it is useless to even try and respond in a civil manner to you. I will consequently refrain once again from doing so in this thread henceforth.

  194. Transsexualism is neither social, nor a psychological issue. It is in-fact a biological issue. And there are physical scientific studies to prove them.

I am not telling him how to think or talk, nor am i telling you how to, I am just simply putting out facts out there and it is up to you guys to educate yourself on the matter,

The thing that you don't understand is transexual is not a gender, or a sex. The sex of the person is what they transition to be trough permanent scientific methods. You can't really call transexual a third gender since sex is either male or female.

Actually we in-fact can tell the difference in an autopsy. The female brain is wired and is very different from a male brain, it has been physically proven that transexual brain is identical to that of their opposite born gender. We also cannot ignore such evidence like chromosome differences and hormonal level imbalances. These have all been physically proven as well.

You do realize that transsexuals don't want to be labeled anything other than what they are. Should we label butched lesbian differently??? It's like forcing a pansexual to be labeled any different than what they are. Many transsexuals actually take offense to being segregated by having a separate third gender to label them.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Actually it is a fact...

and it's a scientific proven study not theory...

    ReplyDelete
  196. lol i love your deflection tactics...

Bigoted is one minded, to say "women are defined by their chromosomes" is one minded.

To say you will "not dwell on the fantasies of a person who wish to dress the opposite gender" when you know nothing about them is one minded.

And if I was a transexual do you have an issue with that? Do you have to be gay to defend the cause? or do you have to be black to be against racism?

You just clearly showed, how bigoted you really are...

    ReplyDelete
  197. You said I "assumed it"...

"And I find nothing "gross" about it or about transsexuals.
Unlike what Nicolet assumes based on her limited understanding"

There really is no misunderstanding here.

Stating a a transexual is born with an unbalanced chromosome is not saying it is bad, as I stated biology is not perfect and we can reverse it trough scientific methods. When a person is born with 11 fingers, why is it bad to go have the fingers cut to 10?

if science states someone's chromosome and it was unbalanced does science condone it or is it allowing the person to seek scientific treatments and educate the mass so they don't think it is in any way negative?

If science finds a mutated gene that causes cancer in your body, will you get offended and assume the doctor told you you are ugly and your genes are stupid and horrible or are you going to be happy that in this day of age we have the advanced medicine to treat you?

I still don't see how you think by me stating the scientific facts was a bad thing.
