Celine Dion and Lara Fabian are often compared.
Both hailing from Canada, that's no real surprise. However vocal similarities make this comparison more than just geographically apt, with both sharing vocal inflections and a penchant for an upper belt and a held note.
But more than anything, the comparisons, and the linking of the two, stems from Lara's own admission of Celine's influence on her:"I would follow note by note your musicality, your passion, sung like only your voice can give colors to the harmony." Could it be that this "following" created the echoes of Celine we now hear in Lara's voice?
Undoubtedly Celine Dion is the bigger star- no question of that- but has the apprentice managed to surpass the master when it comes to vocal talent? (For example, many have claimed Lara has the better technique of the two- and quite possibly paid with their life for doing so!) Or is this a case of "often imitated, never duplicated", with Celine trumping Lara in every regard?
