[Watch] Beyonce Addresses Inauguration Lip-Syncing Fiasco and Performs US National Anthem LIVE!

beyonce 2013 superbowl anthem

There was never any question (in my mind) that Beyonce could belt out the Star Spangled Banner, live, if she wanted to. But there are those who used her controversial choice to sing over a backing track at the Obama inauguration as an excuse to throw mud at her abilities as a live vocalist. To silence the naysayers, The Queen of the Beehive, who has kept schtum on the whole affair since it happened, decided the best way to shut down those critics was to sing the anthem again, but this time, 100% live, and 100% a cappella!

Taking to the podium at the Super Bowl 2012 press conference- she's performing at the half-time ceremony, didn't you know?- the Destiny's Child member asked the audience to stand before launching into a pretty perfect rendition of the American National Anthem. If that didn't speak volumes in and of itself, the Diva then went on to address, directly, the issue of her choosing to you use a backing track at the inauguration, saying;

"I am a perfectionist, and one thing about me: I practice 'till my feet bleed. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show... Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check... I did not feel comfortable singing live."

"Any Questions?"

  2. I'm here for this 546446363 percent LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE the "Any questions?!?!" I can't wait for her halftime show on Sunday, I'm sure it will be MUCH better than last year. Can she just bring all 16 Grammys on stage for any haters, LOL as if there would be any after this performance.

    ReplyDelete
  3. WAIT, DD, did you watch the whole interview?! She has an announcement after the performance? :o I smell new music :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. I really hope she does a Destiny's Child reunion :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Me too! I think it's going to happen

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well, this is my predicted/hopeful set list:

Crazy In Love with Jay Z (She always starts with that)
    Countdown (Just an odd feeling)
Single Ladies (Because of the video of her rehearsals, you could obviously see the choreography from it)
Say My Name (One of the most famous DC songs)
    Survivor (Very inspiring anthem)
    Nuclear (Just to Promote)
Beyonce's New Single (Cause of what she said in the interview)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe it really is a tour announcement and not a new song? But I wouldn't mind your set list and I would hope that she would have a few more recent songs though.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It has to at least be an album announcement, rumor has it she's going to release in Spring.

But what do you mean more recent?

    ReplyDelete
  9. So Arthur.. anything to say? ;D

    ReplyDelete
  10. Im actually kind of admiring for Beyonce to speak about it. Theres so many people who do their thing and just leave it at that. She admitted to what she did, delivered what she originally promised, and spoke much more about the workings of the industry and the things that come into play- things that NOBODY feels comfortable talking about. Not that its really THAT big of a deal but...you know. Shes brave to own up to her own thing. At least in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  11. She only owns up to things when she's caught. No admiration from me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well to be honest this is the first time shes ever "Owned Up" to something. At least as far as I know. Making a public appearance and stating it in a conference that is.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Maybe more songs from the last two years? However it has to span her entire career so maybe that is asking a bit much

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not saying she has other misdeeds, but that is a VERY good point

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, she I don't think any songs from 4 will be remembered, except maybe Love On Top

    ReplyDelete
  16. I mean, she said what I said she did along. No backpedaling required.

    ReplyDelete
  17. LOL I guess you and I are interpreting her statements differently then. In my mind, if she had merely sung with a backing track, she would still defend her performance as live, rather than saying she "did not feel comfortable singing live."

    ReplyDelete
  18. Let's be honest here, she never would have owned up to anything had she not gotten caught. She would have gladly accepted praise for faking it. I think it's hilarious she felt the need to sing the national anthem here lol. Obviously being caught got under her skin. If she had time to record the song then she had time to rehearse. It's not like she was doing some random new song...it's the friggen national anthem. She's sung it before. Any American singer should be able to pop that out off the top of their head. I'm sure the orchestra was ready to go. Not to mention Kelly sang live right before her so no weather excuses either. I was always somewhat indifferent to Beyonce but I'm not anymore. She comes across as too contrived for my tastes now this just cements that. Did she claim here she sang to a backing track? I still think it was totally mimed. It was too perfect except for right at the beginning. I love how they made it sound like she had some tuning problems up front then head into a perfect performance. They were really trying to sell it. Celine should take notes!

  19. *cough*IfIWereABoy*cough**cough*Countdown*cough*

    ReplyDelete
  20. When referring to no rehearsal time I think she was referring to rehearsal with the band and orchestra rather than just a singing rehearsal. Sure everyone knows the lyrics and the basic melody and composition- but these pop stars always try to reinvent the song (usually ending in complete failure or just lackluster performances) and especially when recomposing it with a band there needs to be proper rehearsing less we come across a new Aguilera moment.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Beyonce isn't the most articulate person in the world. But, she said yes when asked if she sang while the prerecording was playing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. you forgot Irreplaceable, and Smash Into You, and Halo, and pretty much any song she has ever "written".

    ReplyDelete
  23. I saw this coming, but I was expecting it during her super bowl performance. I expected screeching, running through her vocal range, and using so much melisma that even Christina would have to side eye her.

    ReplyDelete
  24. How can you own up to something if no one knows about it? I don't think any singer admits they lip sync if they're not caught, in fact, I don't they admit it when they are caught. You have to admire Beyonce's audacity.

It was definitely not perfect. The way she put emphasis on her consonants is not typical of a studio recording.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Uhm, divadevotee you misquoted Beyonce words, she did not say "she did not feel comfortable singing live", but instead "I did not feel comfortable taking a risk". She said it as clear as daylight that she sang along to a pre-recorded track.

I'm starting to think that you don't fancy Beyonce much and that's fine, but don't misquote to get other people to think she lip-sync when she singed along to a backtracking pre-recorded tape. She deserves credit back for at least singing because you of all people know backtracking and lip-syncing are two different things.

    ReplyDelete
  26. are yall ready for this superbowl performance? She is going to scream, growl and do runs till till your ears ring just prove she is singing live.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i dont think she deserves any admiration - if she was never caught she would not have come forward - of course she can sing.... no doubt its just the whole pulling the earpiece dramatic part and the whole honesty thing that goes with what she did

i am a huge fan but i am not a sheep who will take any explanation she feeds me

    ReplyDelete
  28. also ive always been a fan of hers but shes always come across as rehearsed - i feel as if she always wants the world to think shes perfect and that actually turns me off - as a fan i would rather her mess up and let us know shes human than lip sync through a song

    ReplyDelete
  29. She has to sing Halo, just to show everyone who has both the show and the vocals. I don't think Nuclear is worth promoting at all, I prefer their singing Lose My Breath or even Soldier instead of the boring Nuclear. I think End of Time should be in the setlist, instead of Countdown or maybe a medley of both...

    ReplyDelete
  30. End of Time, while it is not a chart topping single, is one of the best songs in her new album. I Was Here is pretty nice too, a really vocally stunning ballad. And Run the World is not her best song but it is always nice to see her perform that song with that hard choreography.

    ReplyDelete
  31. She says it again at http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PUT05IeHu4s#t=756s
"I did sing ALONG with the pre-recorded track"

For anyone with healthy ears it was pretty obvious that she was singing along with the pre-recorded track, in some videos you can even hear the wind, proving that her mic was all the time on. Of course, haters are going to keep hating. No matter what she does, they will always hate her. There is no way to win the battle against hater, so the best she can do from now on is just ignore them.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Totally agree! Nuclear is blah and really shouldn't even really be performed. Would love to hear Halo live, the vocals are quite impressive

    ReplyDelete
  33. To put a full stop to this controversy, once again the real proof that she was SINGING LIVE ALONG WITH THE PRE-RECORDED TRACK:

    VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tCNth-N9Z0&feature=youtu.be%29

    PROOFS: (by user "headly66")

Turn up the volume loud, put it in 1080p or 720p - or better yet use headphones

At 0:35 secs there is a burst of wind which is clearly audible through the mike.

At 0:52 is the word "watched"...see how you hear her hit the "t" sound than inhale.

At 0:55 you see her mouth shake from vibrato

At 1:02 there is a small distortion and she even misses the key a bit on the word "rocket"

At 1:13 after she pulls out her ear-bud because it's throwing her off she misses the note.

At 1:21 she over modulates on the word "was" the pulls back.

At 1;36 - 1:40 she hits a group of notes that would be impossible to lip sync.

At 1:57 she starts to say the wrong word with a "W sound" then corrects to "brave".

I think I'm going to quote Xtina on this: "I see you super hatin' when I roll up / And I suggest you go and grow the f*ck up (ha) / Or you can spin around in circles / Spin around in circles on my middle, middle finger"

    ReplyDelete
  34. Actually....1997 Bette Midler introducing the band at the end of her show introduces the singer as being there to cover her ass at the high notes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Never had any doubt she CAN sing it.And do so really well. So yeah, all the more reason for saying... I do have a question...could she at least for the inauguration of a( her) president, check her ego at the door?

And to the stans out there...keep spinning it but had she just sung it live...there'd been nothing to address or demonstrate in press conferences.

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOL not sure about that as I have heard Superbowl performances being criticised many times for not being sung live. Often they come with the explanation/excuse that due to it being in the middle of a football match, there are technical difficulties to setting up big shows entailing actually live vocals.
If there will be any doubt there..she's gonna be toast. I hope for her sake that if it can't be done Live...she has the good sense to give another little press conference and explain in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Indeed jay..it is the national anthem. If she ''didn't have time to rehearse'' why not simply ask the band to Not play and give a fine a Cappella rendition. As she proved here, she is totally capable of that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well that's impressive. I'm just saying though, almost no one admits they lip sync, even if they are caught.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I was thinking about that, but she only has 12 minutes :b
I could see her doing 6-8 songs.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think that the issue is that she mimed it and not that she can't sing. we already know she can sing so she shouldn't have sung the national anthem again. She should have only explained the whole miming thing. And why is she wearing a short fitting backless dress? that's disrespectful! but anyway i love you bey great rendition of the national anthem

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm confused...where did i say she lip-synced in this article? The quotation I lifted directly from Fox news (yes, I hang my head in shame) because I didn't have the video when I was typing out the post. I just assumed it was accurate. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2013/01/31/beyonce-to-face-media-for-first-time-since-lip-sync-scandal/

As for not like beyonce: Yes, I don't like some of the things she does, but musically, vocally and entertainment-wise, I like what she brings!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am. I really hope she brings something different- other than weave whipping and old routines. Also the fact that she's confirmed she's singing live has got me extra pumped!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I thought about that too, but Alicia is supposed to be singing it at the Super bowl.( i think). It would have looked SHADY as F*** if B went out and sang it after Alicia- regardless of her intent.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cynic as I am, I think maybe she either truly is oblivious what exactly is the criticism, or her pr people are trying to spin it into '' it's just haters''' by pretending the issue is something patently untrue. Such as her vocal abilities not being good.

And if I can come up with such possible spin...I can guarantee, so can pr folk in her employ. ;-D

    ReplyDelete
  45. No, I wrote the article after reading news sites, and then found the video just before the post went live! Everyone was expecting new music to come out a week before the the super bowl- so new music in itself wasn't a shock to me. But I guess it builds anticipation if she waits until the actual event to début new stuff. I think the song will then go "live" on Itunes straight after the performance to capitalise on the exposure. But i am excited to hear what she's been cooking!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Strong words! But i know what you mean about being a fan and not losing the ability to see faults, if they so should appear.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Not many people do that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. That's not the point, that was the argument. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. such a hot little topic , hmmm what do i think.....i understand why she did what she did but i still think she should have sung live , i mean im not american but if i was asked to represent my country id do it to the best of my ability and that wouldn't be singing along to a backing track.....thats karaoke. all in all i think they could have chosen a more reliable singer but i love bey and her personality . but the real question is .....what would Britney do ? haha

    ReplyDelete
  50. '' Pardon me while I have a strange interlude'' people but @ Mel and Serendipity...Unrelated but harking back to another conversation for a sec...finally got the chance to listen to the Japanese artists you guys kindly recommended. The instrumentals were pleasant enough. Had no idea Ryuichi Sakamo is the composer of the music for The Last Emperor as well as for Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. Liked the music for the former best. Ironically, because of the Chinese instruments and theme. Ayaka and Utada I thought were rather generic popmusic. Not bad but unfortunately neither's voice was very pleasant to my ears.
The good thing was...they sent me over to some Israeli singers I used to like. Slightly different but equally generic pop I have to admit. But voices that are more compatible with my ears.
Anyway...thanks to you both for the time and effort. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  51. How is it cheating? It was her voice on that song that was played on the inauguration was it not. I can imagine how much you hate cd's. When you sing a song you haven't had time to rehearse in a while you don't sound as good as you good with rehearsal. I will never understand the hate she gets on this site for doing what everyone else does.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Why ask me and not in general?
Since I am hardly the only one thinking thus.
Just fyi I feel the same about any performer guilty of cheating. And if you don't understand after two threads of people explaining why they consider it cheating, I don't see how repeating it will bring you an answer to your question.

And no I don't hate cd's. I am perfectly capable of distinguising between a small disc meant to put in a cdplayer at home and a human being standing behind a microphone in front of an audience. I consequently have different expectations of the two.

I think the reason people express displeasure for certain actions of Beyonce is because this is not a Beyonce fansite filled with blind adoration.
That is also why you will find critical views on ANY singer mentioned on this blog. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Opie I said it to you because it seems that you attack anyone with a different opinion from you and try to belittle them. The fact that I did so I regret, it is pointless to pick fights with people who sit behind a computer and spread hate. So carry on picking at how people sound while they go about doing things and living their lives. I foolishly thought this site would be somewhere people who love music and muscians could talk about it not tear it apart and push vendettas against artists. But I will leave the site and let you relish in your hate.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ah, Bette Midler... the original wheelchair mermaid. I wonder how she reacted when Gaga ripped it off?

    ReplyDelete
  55. You know, I notice that all Beyonce stans, when they are confronted with the truth, will immediately begin their spiel on how everyone that doesn't excuse and condone all of Beyonce's actions is "attacking everyone with a different opinion" and "trying to spread hate". I would just like to point out that everything that Opie said is completely true. So Opie's attempting to remedy the delusion that is so widespread, not attempting to spread hate.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well, sorry to hear your efforts to pick a fight with someone you don't like on this blog, leads you to scurry off again when that person responds to your reply.
Because I am perfectly willing to agree to not respond to your comments in return for you not responding to mine.:-)

But hey, your call if you want to dismiss everybody here just because you don't like me. Especially since clearly your first comments here set such a fine example on how to talk music rather than pick fights.

Thanks for the ''constructive criticism'' on me but I do feel my criticism on cheaters and fakers comes from actually loving music rather than Image. So yeah, think I will continue to ''pick on'' SINGERS on how they sound.

I would like to advice you to look up the definition of ''hate''. You seem a tad confused on that one.
I mean, stating someone can sing well and calling that person a cheat in agreement with her own admission, as far as I know, normally is hardly considered '' hate''. But l could be wrong. If the dictionary tells you that IS considered ''hate'', do let me know and I will stand corrected

    ReplyDelete
  57. Beyonce doesn't seem to have good sense anymore... saying in interviews that she is "more powerful than her mind can even digest" and that she has "had so much commercial success... but it's not enough". And then this whole lip-syncing situation. It's like she doesn't know how to handle her own career anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Frankly, I suspect this person to be anti Opie rather than particularly pro Beyonce.;-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's not just this person, Opie. It's also Nahu. Remember when he claimed we were the epitome of evil?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes, but he also hates me. It seems criticizing artists and stans is ''spreading hate'' . Hating on me and other such critics though...that seems to be perfectly acceptable. And to us you can say whatever you feel. Go as low as you can.
Because clearly throwing personal insults at people who will actually read them...well...that's not nearly as bad as critical remarks about an artist who will never read those.

    ReplyDelete
  61. You got it right I am anti opie after reading your comments towards other people, but the striesand comment was because I am a fan of Babs and Whitney there was no confrontation in that comment. No body has time to sit around and pick a fight with the amazing opie i bet you have loads of friends with your attitude. I wasn't going to comment but like all people who think they are done with something i was drown back.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I stand by my comment and I could only imagine why anyone would call you and opie evil they must be delusional.

    ReplyDelete
  63. How did I insult you? If you find a spot I am sorry I didn't try to insult you but it is amazingly ironic that you can dish it to artist and commentors but cant take.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Of all the critics on this tread, and I bet under both the Streisand and Houston profiles...you chose mine to reply to. Why? You could just as easily posted both comments without them being a reply to me.
I can think of no other reason than you desiring for me to reply. And if you already established in your view I am only ''spreading hate'' and argue anybody disagreeing with me, again I ask ...why? If not in an effort to pick a fight

    ReplyDelete
  65. I thought you were going to leave the site and let us relish in our hate?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Is that what you call insulting? I am sorry you took offence to that comment but that wasn't confrontational at all I was actually trying to start a friendly dialogue till I strolled down on that post and read those your disgusting comments about whitney and when I saw some other comments where you attacked others both singers and comenters thats when I saw all the hate you spread all over the site.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I can take it just fine. As long as I can give it right back. But like I said, I promised DD to refrain from that kind of thing. I was however simply pointing out the irony of the situation.

And though my remark regarding being insulted was in response to Reiko and referring to said Nahu and some others. But call me crazy...I would say ''bet you have lots of friends'' would by most be considered an attempt at insulting me.

    -

    ReplyDelete
  68. i addressed in a comment awhile ago but i guess you didn't read that before you commented

    ReplyDelete
  69. And I gather that's when you decided to join me in that. ;-)

But no, that's not what I consider an attempted insult.

Shame you didn't bother to notice the positively loving comments I also leave. Nor took the trouble to look up the definition between hate and just critical thought. Because the continious accusation I am motivated by the former rather than the latter....that is also an insult attempt imo.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Im sorry if that is insulting, and that is nothing compared to what you say about singers.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Those comments must have been on the singers I didn't like and look at almost all I saw were negative. I have looked up hate just for you Opie and it seems to fit, to express strong dislike, which is in trace of your comments all over this blog

    ReplyDelete
  72. Again, you assumed I would read it. Even more so...hoped I would.
I am pretty sure none of those artist will read what I write. If I thought they did, I would definitely try to state my opinions in a more tactful and objective wording.

I would not try to deliberatly hurt any artist with my opinion. Stans chosing to be ''hurt'' by proxy...sorry but that is really not something I feel I have to worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  73. You addressed what, exactly? Did you take back what you said about leaving the site and letting us relish in our hate?

    ReplyDelete
  74. "hurt" by proxy... Opie, you're hilarious :D

    ReplyDelete
  75. yeah you can relish in your hate Im just staying :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Opie doesn't express strong dislike in her comments.

    ReplyDelete
  77. There, NOW you've addressed it :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. yeah opie your hilarious :D, I never was hurt nor did I say that but I am sorry that I did a crazy thing and stood up for a singer i like I bet you never did that. And I'm sorry I didnt include commenters in that comment

    ReplyDelete
  79. Well, if ''hate'' means strong dislike, then I stand corrected. My negative comments are indeed inspired by a ''strong dislike''.
Though personally I experience a huge difference in intensity between my strong dislike for cheating/faking and a certain popstar.

So...I gather your objection is to my expressing strong dislike for what I strongly dislike.

    ReplyDelete
  80. We must have a different opinion were strong opinion ends and it becomes dislike (which sometimes become the same)

    ReplyDelete
  81. No, Reiko, it is true I do. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  82. No, but I have given up arguing at this point :) we will never understand the other

    ReplyDelete
  83. Again, I was replying to Reiko's words. I didn't call YOU a stan. Though I gather you do identify yourself as one.
I was speaking generally in my reply to her.

    ReplyDelete
  84. LOL opie... I've never seen it. With the exception of Rihanna, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I am a tad conflicted here, on one hand I think she deserves the scandal around her for this...if you know you are going to be singing the national anthem for such a special occasion you would work to ensure you have the time to rehearse it fully, with her work ethic I find it shocking she didn't.

I also feel that by singing it here it makes her look slightly shabby, I would have respected her more if she had just said simply "I did not sing live because....", it's almost as if she has zero understanding of the situation. Nobody called into question her physical ability to sing it, and sing it well as we know she can, its the simple fact she didn't and then gave a number of rubbish excuses for not, like the weather?!? I am sure she has toured and done gigs in worse...

On the other I think well at least she was honest, plenty of other diva's will deny deny deny even when the evidence is solid against them! Part of me thinks she is not on her game at the moment and is probably overworked with the superbowl coming up.

I have started to lose respect for Bey, do I think she is talented? Yes, but something is not sitting right with me, I think your previous post about her has somewhat stuck in my mind and set off alarm bells. Oh well....Solange is now surpassed Bey in my mind regarding talent, her EP "True" is bloody fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  86. lol thanks but that was tbh just because I could think of the Dutch but not the English word for that misplaced emotional reponse by such people.

    ReplyDelete
  87. So how about Babs I love her :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hahaha that's probably because you and I aren't such delicate flowers when it comes to debate.

    ReplyDelete
  89. you replied to me unless the website is lieing to me

    ReplyDelete
  90. I didnt reply to the one you replied to Reiko unless you want me :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Oh I thought I had you pegged. Figured you to be a believer in ''if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all'' with the one exception to that rule.
But maybe I am wrong. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  92. haha how did you know *nicki minaj eye roll*

    ReplyDelete
  93. Oh I figured I made my extremely positive opinion on Streisand quite clear in several threads.
I don't think any popular singer was ever better than her. Equal ( but different style and genre) sure but better than this? Nope...nobody...ever

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oBKUIp1fKg&feature=youtube_gdata_player

    ReplyDelete
  94. lol wasn't aware Minaj's eyerolls are different from the regular eyeroll so I'll just take that as the regular one.:-)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thats what I said in the Babs post (though Im guessing you don't see whitney as equal) , I love babs she has so much control so much pizzaz

    ReplyDelete
  96. their more dramatic

    ReplyDelete
  97. Pfff that was still responding in general. Like I said...I didn't identify you as a stan and therefor waasn't thinking of you there. I was explaining my general view.

    ReplyDelete
  98. im so confused are you talking to me now, have you been arguing with someone else, has two hours actually happen, I feel like I am in the twilight zone

    ReplyDelete
  99. lol you didn't have to guess . That was the crux of the remark you responded to....I do not see Whitney as an equal to Streisand. For several reasons. I don't think she came near emotively, not artistic sensebility wise nor control live. And certainly not career length wise.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'm covering my eyes because I don't have another two hours to argue

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think she could care less. She clearly Does know the difference between fake and genuine and likely realises that a fake is not in her league. No matter how much that fake rips off the originals. And lol on you drawing that comparison because I just recently watched two full concerts of the Divine. And especially Art Or Bust...clearly, shall we say , not unfamiliar to the distinctly not divine at all Gaga. ;-)

  102. To you. The comment you posted right above mine.

And in response to ''two hours with no gain'' I would like to think there was definite gain...we started off a tad miffed but I feel we have moved on to pretty friendly and civilized exchange of differing as well as similar views. Or am I reading that wrong?

AND you are no longer talking about leaving the site.
Personally...I count that as several gains. :-)

  103. yeah that is true and I never hated you Opie nor did I want to offend you so it has been a good two hours

  104. Glad to hear that. But for the sake of absolute clarity...I presumed you to dislike me. Or rather my comments.
But I am pretty sure Nahu hates me as much as I hate Rihanna.

  105. Wow her voice is very mediocre. I never heard her sound this bad too, maybe the Mariah fans are right about her always using pre-recorded vocals because her technique was pretty bad here. Especially her transition from chest into head voice. And is she asthmatic? What is up with her breathing control? And why couldn't she sustain her notes?

  106. haha I disliked your comment but not strongly no more than I dislike Christina

  107. Hahaha I don't mind such statements if they are tongue in cheek.
My all time favorite is von Karajan getting into a taxi, the driver asking ''where to'' and von Karajan replying '' it doesn't matter. They want me everywere'' :-D

  108. Strong dislike=strong opinion. I think both Reiko and I were stating to differentiate not between those two but between ''hate'' and critical thought. I know I was. To me hate is an, oft irrational, emotional state. Critical thought is a cooler, more abstract thought process.

  109. Hahaa, you just hit the nail on the head! What Opie, and others like Reiko, can't comprehend is that we don't like them because they criticize Beyoncé or any other artist, but for their attitude of superiority and their constant humiliation towards all who they believe intellectually inferior to them. They keep bringing people down and looking for new ways to have fun through the suffering of others.

  110. lol i assume now everyone know beyonce only sounds good live because she lip sings, what a slap iin the face to musicians like christina who gives her all in EVERY performace.

bottom line christina is better its no competition with the voice, beyonce does form the most part have catchier songs but whos gonna remeber 'girls run the world '10 years from now?Beautiful is a testimtent of time

they dont call xtina 'the voice of the generation' for nothing!

  113. I think what we have here is a case of the pot calling the cattle black. Your problem likely is not that I think I am intellectually your superior...it's that YOU think I am intellectual your superior.

And that last line is way over the top. I am sorry the perceived intellectual superiority of others causes you such ''suffering'' but for real dude...''looking for new ways''??? I only have one way...highlighting stupid shit people post themselves.
Now, if you can't stick to facts and criticizing my actual comments ...I will have to get in touch with the moderator because I feel your hate campaign against me is getting to be over the top. Suggesting I am not fit to be called a human being, comparing me to psycho killer movie characters, that I am a sadist....all way out of line dude.

  114. Well, I for one do NOT think that. My issue is with the cheating. Like I said before and will say again...Beyonce absolutely is an excellent singer.
That makes the cheating so silly. She so does NOT need it.

  115. Now THAT is something you won't see me argue. :-)
    She sure looks Fine

  116. Christina has lip-synced, several times.

And quite frankly, as much as she goes out of tone, shouts, strains, etc. I'd honestly prefer to hear her lip as I prefer to hear my live performances in-tune and well sung.

I'm not even a Beyonce fan but why pick her lowest charting single in your comparison? How many people will remember "Not Myself Tonight"? "Dirrty?" "Hurt?" "Keeps Gettin' Better"? "Can't Hold Us Down"? "Slow Down Baby"? "Candyman"? "Woohoo"? , you get the point. Beyonce has several well known songs as both a solo artist and with Destiny's Child. "Irreplaceable" "Survivor" "Bootylicious" "Say My Name" "Cater 2 U" "Crazy In Love" "Deja Vu" "Dangerously In Love" "Listen" "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" and so on.

And in regards to the "no competition with the voice" comment, I'll just say this, Christina has been heavily criticized by a famous Opera singer while Beyonce has been heavily praised by several. I'll leave it at that :)

  117. I think you took what i said a multiplied it by 10. I think Opie and Reiko are just very opinionated and sometimes that is too much for certain people.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I wouldn't mind them if she didn't do them so often.
    And lol.

  119. So much hate towards Bey like she's some sort of menace. She can sing her ass off, simple as that. Everyone knows this. If she chose not to risk a blunder on such a significant and historical moment such as President Obama's second inauguration, then let her be. It was about the president, not her. She doesn't have to prove to anyone that she can actually sing the national anthem. Anyone who doesn't know that Bey can sing has been living under a rock. I think her amazing performances and theatrics distract people from her actual raw singing talents.
