[WATCH] Beyonce - Coachella

beyonce michelle kelly coachella

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Life is hectic at the moment- currently on patrol getting qualifications. But I had to stop to tune into Beyonce's Coachella performance.

The Queen brought culture to the table with the Central State University band. Majorettes were out there bucking, the Clark Sisters were paid homage, and Destiny's Child reunited. But that wasn't all. The almost two-hour set was also a family affair with Solange (who took part in some sisterly dancing) and hubby Jay-z joining the Diva on stage.

Beyonce was throwing an eight count like she was a majorette herself!

[Watch] CMA Audience Stay Salty with Beyonce

When news broke that Beyonce was opening the 2016 Country Music Awards, people were not happy. Considering her (wrongly) to be "Anti-police" because of her support for the Black Live Matters movement, the crazy folk on Twitter were screaming for a boycott of the award show. (I'm sure that was the real and only reason *rolls eyes*)

[Shock!] Beyonce Bores With Lemonade Medley @ 2016 VMAs

Beyonce was the Queen of the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, winning, like, all the Moon Men and becoming the show's most awarded star, like, eva.

But she didn't just come to take yesterday, she also gave, spoiling MTV with a medley of songs from her latest smash, Lemonade. Less a string of songs following one another and more a production, the set contained interludes that tied it all together, adding drama and faux-depth. Still, I found it kinda boring, and drawn-out, with Beyonce serving me lethargy and too much booty (who would have thought that was possible).

[Watch] Beyonce Opens BET Awards 2016 with "Freedom"

People (the Hive) swore Beyonce would never perform again on the BET stage again after the station made disparaging remarks about her child's hair. But with album Lemonade touching on the experiences of black America, what better place would there be to showcase the material than the Black Entertainment Television Awards 2016. So it's little surprise that's just what she did.

Beyonce sets "Sorry" Visuals Free On YouTube

beyonce sorry Serena Williams

Don't jump on me, but this bish still has not seen the visuals for Beyonce's exceptionally-received LP, Lemonade.

Well, today, finally I get my first peek at the project*, with Sorry being released onto the Diva's YouTube channel. Featuring Serena Williams, the black and white video is a treat to watch, bringing back long-thought buried memories of American Horror Story:Coven. However, the spell cast by the Sorry video isn't quite powerful enough. I'm currently no more interested in watching the whole Lemonade movie (?) than I was before I had this first sip.

Despite Accusations Of Lipping, Beyonce Hits a Great F5 On First Date Of "Formation" World Tour

The juggernaut that is the Formation tour has officially taken flight as of yesterday! Your Queen is on her way to a makeshift hive near you, are y'all ready!?

Starting in Miami, the tour has kept the buzz around Beyonce- initially created by the critically acclaimed Lemonade release this week- humming nicely.  Props to whoever coordinated the roll out of this project! It's practically perfect in every way.

[Review] Beyonce Fails to Top Self-titled Album With "Lemonade"

Lemonade has landed!

Beyonce's sixth studio album comes hot on the heels of its feature length HBO promo. Having initially been a Tidal exclusive, the LP has now made its way onto iTunes for the masses to enjoy.

Lemonade finds Beyonce at her furthest from chasing hit singles or appeasing the radio. Don't look for anything easy or immediately infectious- that came courtesy of our first sip, Formation. Instead offered is a collection of eclectic songs, held together with a strong narrative of infidelity and heartache. Sure, these are topics the Diva has tackled before, but they've never had the ring of realness they have here. Gone are the pageant, overwrought lyric and vocals, and in their place is a body of work that feels authentic and entirely more affecting.

Is Rihanna's "Kiss It Better" a Rip-Off of Beyonce's "Dance For Me"?

Beyonce vs Rihanna

Rihanna's Anti wasn't an immediate smash for me. Missing the hooks and microwavable pop-production like her other albums, it required a little more dedication before it really took hold. Definitely a risky move from the Diva, since she isn't really known for making music that requires much effort to get into. However, girl done good!

Beyonce Controversially Revels in Her Black Roots With "Formation" Performance @ 2016 Super Bowl

Beyonce really did shock me with her decision to debut the controversial new track Formation at the 2016 Super Bowl half-time show.

Not only did she perform the politically-charged song, she also had Black Panther imagery going on- with the dancers all dressed in black berets- and the lyrics proudly remained unchanged. Could it be that with her current contract ending, the Diva is finally breaking free and expressing herself more candidly? Or was this a calculated move to get as much publicity for the announcement of the Formation tour that followed quickly after the performance?

Did Beyonce's New Musical Campaign Just Start?! Everyone Be Upstanding for "Formation"

I don't know what is happening. Has Beyonce just gone and done another surprise release?! New song Formation (Dirty) has popped into existence on Internet out of nowhere- with a banging and politically charged video, no less- and I don't know what is goin' on!!

Do you!? Currently "unlisted", watch it before it (potentially) disappears!

It's getting to the point where there's nothing new I can say about Beyonce's live performances.

[New Music] Beyonce - ‘Runnin (Lose It All)’

The beehive have been a buzzing since news broke yesterday that Naughty Dog would be releasing a new song featuring their Queen, Beyonce. If that wasn't a big deal enough, he also told the world that the track, Runnin' (Lose It All), would be coming the following day at the exact time of * insert whatever it is* (I sure as hell ain't looking it up).

[Music Video] Madonna - "B!tch I'm Madonna"

Anyone expecting a big budget extravaganza, akin to that Taylor Swift created with her celeb-rich Bad Blood video, are going to be disappointed today. Sure, B!tch I'm Madonna does deliver on the hinted at A-list cameos- with Beyonce, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus all popping up- but they're in no way integrated into the spectacle, as was the case with Tay's video.

Beyonce Comes For Haters With Tidal Exclusive "Killing My"!!! Also, Is Tidal DOA?

A new song from Beyonce has appeared on the (currently flatlining) streaming service, Tidal!

Killing My is reportedly one of the hundreds of tracks recorded by the Diva that were ultimately deemed unworthy for major release. And listening to it, I can kinda see why this diss track never made it past the finish line.

That's not to say there isn't the bones of  a good track within. After all, I love ratchet Bey as much anyone. It's just, as it is, I can't get over how ugly Bey's tone sounds. I know some of y'all are living for it, but to me it's jarring and at complete odds to the beautifully lyrical quality I expect from the Diva.

[New Music] Beyonce Delivers Sublime Vocals On "Tidal" Advertisement

Releasing exclusive content by Beyonce is definitely one way to get people up and taking note of Jay Z's new streaming service Tidal.

Debuting new song, Die With You, onto the novel endeavor, this rough demo finds the vocals and instrumentation handled solely by the Diva. Who's filming this magical moment, you ask? Well her adoring hubby, of course.

[Not Again Beyonce!] "Deju Vu" Demo Leaks

The demo for Beyonce's Deju Vu has leaked! And guess what, it's pretty much identical, melodically and lyrically, to the version recorded for the Diva's second solo album, B'day.

This leaked version features Makeba Riddick on vocals- she also had a hand in writing the track- and was brought to Bey's attention by her father, Matthew Knowles. Makeba expanded further on this life changing moment in an interview with Hellobeautiful.com, where she reminisced fondly about working with the singer:

[Duelling Divas] Which Diva Sang "Resentment" Best?

I sorta feel like I've written about Resentment somewhere before. How else would it be that I was vaguely aware that it had been recorded by three Divas- Beyonce, Jazmine Sullivan and Victoria Beckham- before today?

[Watch] Beyonce and Ed Sheeran Tribue Stevie Wonder

Ed Sheeran beyonce

There was some kinda tribute/lovefest held in honor of the musical icon that is Stevie Wonder which happened over in the States this week. Performances came from a variety of Divas, but it was of course Beyonce who stole the limelight with her take on a collection Stevie classics.

After reading the hyped up reaction to Bey's set, I was ready to feel some kind of way about it. Unfortunately, the reality was, I wasn't blown away. It had the voice, the moves and the A-game that only Bey can bring, but it just didn't pop for me in the way I thought it would. Is my soul dead?
