Rest In Peace, Christina Grimmie

It has been a week since Christina Grimmie was shot and killed at a fan signing. Though I didn't comment on it at the time, I felt it would be remiss of me not to do so at all. But instead of focusing on the details of her passing, I'll instead shine a light on what mattered to her: inspiring others with her talent.

Only 22-years old at the time of her death, the singer-songwriter initially found success via her YouTube channel, where she started uploading videos at the age of 15. It wasn't long until her viral success and talent had Disney knocking. The result: the web show Power Up.

Melissa Etheridge Releases "Pulse" As Her Tribute to The Victims of the Orlando Shooting

Melissa Etheridge has also- in addition to Christina Aguilera- found expression in her art, recording a tribute to those who have/are still suffering in the wake of the Orlando shooting. Entitled Pulse, the Diva cleverly uses the name of the nightclub in which the tragedy occurred to bring us all together as one- stating "everybody has a pulse".

Speaking to The Advocate, the Singer-songwriter explained why she didn't go the route Aguilera decided to, with a broad message:

I get so moved by so many things, not just the sadness of tragedy. I also get moved by how we react. Unfortunately, it takes a hideous event like this, but sometimes it brings people together and moves others who might have been like, ‘That gay thing is not anything I’m concerned about.’ It moves them and they think, I have to stand on the side of love and peace.

Christina Aguilera Releases New Music in Tribute to Pulse Nightclub Victims

With the world still reeling from the despicable shooting at an Orlando nightclub, where 49 of its patrons senselessly lost their lives, many, including myself, are still at a loss as to how to process the events of last Sunday.

Perhaps dealing with it in the only way she knows how, Christina Aguilera has taken to her own art, releasing a new, uplifting, song called Change. Whereas it sends out a message of hope and change in a more generic fashion (no shade), the Diva also released a statement addressing the shootings specifically:

What are You "Currently Listening Intently To"?

Probably just me, but boy does it feel like there's been a glut in Diva related news/music/live showings. Maybe you guys can give me some much needed life with your C.L.I.T selections today.

For me, Ariana Grande's new album has been keeping me company during the drought. I had written a track-by-track, first listen review, but since those thoughts on Dangerous Woman have changed with multiple listens, I think it'd be pointless to post now.

[New Music] Rihanna & Mike Will Made It - "Nothing Is Promised"

We heard a snippet of Nothing Is Promised when Rihanna was recording Anti. Unfortunately for folk like me who were actually looking forward to hearing the Mike Will Made It track in its entirety, it never shipped with the LP.

Mariah Carey Gets Wet With Kimmel

Mariah Carey is heading back to Vegas to resume her #1 to Infinity residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. And what better way to entice the plebs to come to the show than by hitting a prime time talk show and singing a few of the classics featured on the set-list. Ya know, to remind the folks what cha all about.

But nope, this is Mariah and she don't do anything any way but her way. Still, it was an entertaining seven minutes which surprisingly ended with the Diva getting into an actual bath with host, Jimmy Kimmel.

What a good sport!

Free For All Friday!

Bank holiday weekend!

If you don't know the score, here be the rules:

  • Try not to get too perverted- this site needs to basically be "safe for work".
  • If somebody starts a controversial subject, try keeping it civil when dealing with it. If things get out of hand please flag the conversation.
  • It would be nice if it stuck to music, but it's not a requirement! So talk about news, current events, how you're getting your hair done next time you hit the hairdresser! Whateves, really!
  • No nasty comments aimed at other users.
Inappropriate hugs to all of y'all (hi-fives to the underagers), and wishing you an awesome weekend!
