Pink Slays Erryone @ 2017 American Music Awards

Post by: Diva Devotee
Pink is awesome.

Long time fan, almost everything the Diva has released has got a hand waving in the air 'yaaaaas!'. However, Beautiful Trauma's lead single, What About Us, surprisingly failed to land with me. Empowering lyrics, rousing vocals and a building production, it should have been a win, hyping me up for the new album. The opposite in fact happened- I could not care less about the upcoming era.

Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, RuPaul and others Unite For Pulse Tribute, "Hands"

The tributes to those slain in the Pulse massacre continue to come forth from the entertainment industry. Released yesterday, Hands features a huge (and varied) group  of entertainers from both the mainstream and the LGBT community. Written by Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels and BloodPop, the song seeks to be both uplifting and inspirational, with the "Hands" of the title being a metaphor for people coming together and creating a change.

The full roll call of artists featured are as follows: Mary J. Blige, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Halsey, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Ty Herndon, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett, Meghan Trainor, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Spears, Stefani, Lambert and Gomez.

Money raised from the song will go to the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida and GLAAD.

[Shock] Pink Calls Christina Aguilera "...Best Singer Of Our Generation"!!!

Now I've heard everything!

Promoting her stint on The Voice -where she acted as an advisor- Pink gave Christina Aguilera a MASSIVE compliment, calling her, "one of the best singers of our generation"! Excuse me for being a little shocked, it's just not something I thought I'd ever hear from the Missundaztood singer.

Their issues supposedly go way back. Initially starting from their first meeting on the Lady Marmalade collaboration, it was a beef that grew more personal when the Dirty one poached Pink's friend and collaborator- Linda Perry- for her own project. I thought this was a petty spat that would see me through to my grave, keeping me warm for all eternity. But nope, looks like it's over.

What a wondrous time to be alive.

[Music Video] Pink And Disney Team-Up For Release, "Just Like Fire"

Super-duper successful touring artist, Pink has returned to the main stage.

Having last been heard on the low-key Rose Ave back in 2014, the Diva has flipped and reversed, returning with a track for the (sure to be) blockbuster that is Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass. Can't get any more mainstream than that!

As you'd expect from working with Disney, Just Like Fire sounds like it's been neutered. The essence of Pink is there, but lacking is the edge and character the Diva usually throws at us. The video tries to make up for this, being comedic and quirky. But it's like adding salt to my eyes instead of my soup. Right thing, wrong place!

Neutered or not, it's good to have one of our feistier Divas back on the scene.

Vocal Strengths:A powerful, dark, rich and sturdy voice that has a trademark vocal grit within its flawless placement and superb vocal control. Pink's voice can cut through the roaring instrumentation of her music with its incredible and effortless resonance [U + Ur Hand]. The voice carries a heavy, wide vibrato that is controlled and never laboured. The voice is also capable of melisma- though it is under utilized [Love Is Such A Crazy Thing].

[Duelling Divas] "Lady Marmalade"

Lady Marmalade was a smash hit for LaBelle in 1975 and featured the scandalously suggestive chorus of "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi (ce soir)?". At the time of release, Patti Labelle -who handled the lead- claimed she never really understood the français, saying: "I didn't know what it was about. Nobody, I swear this is God's truth, nobody told me what I'd just sung a song about."

[Forbes' Rich List 2014] Diva's Making Money!

This post is about something which is of no real concern to us plebs. Like really, what does it matter that these divas have gotten even more filthy rich over the period June 2013 to June 2014? Still, human nature is such that we are all as nosy as a Proboscis monkey/anteater cross, so let me just go right on ahead and post Forbes' tally of top earning female musicians.

For those wondering how they calculated the figures for said list, check out their site [here]. Even so, I'd take these figures with a pinch of these-don't-affect-my-life-in-any-way-so-who-really-cares. Though, if any of you lovely Divas are reading this, how bout buying me a diamond necklace. You clearly can afford it and I obviously deserve it....

Regarder la liste, peeps :

Pink Stuns With "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" Performance @ 2014 Oscars

When I heard Pink was performing at the 2014 Oscar Awards, I did wonder why. However, it wasn't any of her own material that the rocker was bringing to the stage. Instead Pink's talented pipes had been called on to cover the iconic Somewhere Over the Rainbow in honor of 75 years since the Wizard of Oz's release.

Needless to say, she SMASHED It. The rendition was perfectly simple- in staging- allowing for the montage honoring the film to be beautifully scored by the performance. I'm sure there will be those who find fault in the harsher tone Pink's vocal brought, especially when compared to Judy Garland's voice, but I really enjoyed hearing her sing it. Her vibrato was a definite revelation!

The ruby dress was a nice touch, too!

[Watch] Pink Inspires With Aerial Acrobatics At 2014 Grammy Awards

Pink was serving up Cirque du Soleil realness for her 2014 Grammy performance. I can't even start with people saying that the Diva is repeating herself with these acrobatics. If you learnt a skill like that you're hardly going to leave it in the cupboard, gathering dust!

Pink is an entertainer in the truest sense of the word. This is someone who has absolutely no need to be putting her life in danger to hold a viewer's interest- her voice and music are enough to do so- yet she pushes herself to deliver these breathtaking visuals. That's something I personally find inspirational.

I was also thrilled to see her incorporate some of the choreography from the Try music video. That routine is art as far as I'm concerned, so am always thrilled to see it acted out, live. Kudos to the singer for giving kids a different kind of performance style to aspire to.

Check out Pink perform Try (yay) and Just Give Me A Reason (Booo, I still don't like this song) with Nate Ruess, below.

[Countdown] P!nk Has Highest Grossing Tour of Any Female In 2013

Taken from Billboard's run down of the 25 highest grossing tours of 2013, P!nk coming on top certainly wasn't what I was expecting after listening to the more rabid stanbases talking trash all year about their fav's ticket sales. The diva also had the highest position of any female (number 7) on Billboard's tally of the top 10 Year-End most popular songs across all genres with Just Give Me A Reason. Just two of the reasons, I suspect, the pop-rocker was deservedly named Billboard's Woman of the Year! Finally, girl be getting some recognition!

But it was a good year for Divas in general, with Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Beyonce all making the top ten highest grossing tours of the year- though it seemed some had to work harder, over more dates, to gross the amount they did. Interestingly, out of all the Divas, Taylor Swift was the only one who sold out all her dates, with Beyonce, conversely, failing to sell out 19 of the 59 shows.

Still, Divas be getting money!

[Versus] Who sang "Whataya Want from Me" better: Adam Lambert Or Pink?

pink adam lambert

I'm wagering everyone in the world already new this, but I just found it out, so here goes: Pink originally recorded Whataya Want from Me! Say whaaat!!! That's not all, she co-wrote it (with Max Martin, and Shellback) for her album Funhouse, but for some odd reason it didn't make it onto the finished product. Fast forward to 2010 and her version finally gets a release on the international copy of the Greatest Hits... So Far!!!, allowing us all to hear it! (So I'm only 3 years late to this party!)

[New Music Video] Pink "Just Give Me A Reason"

Nate Ruess pink

Let me count the ways I love you, Pink. Actually, let's not, because ain't no body got time for that!! Bottom line: I adore her! And new single Just Give Me A Reason, taken from latest album The Truth About Love, does nothing to change those affections.

[Watch] Pink Covers Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire"

pink singing at BBC live lounge

Ever wondered how Pink's edgy pipes would handle Alicia Keys' bombastic "Girl On Fire"? Well stop it before you hurt yourself, because, through the magic of BBC's Live Lounge, it is now a reality that can be heard via Youtube!

Taking the empowering, feminist mid-tempo track, Pink gives it the "Just Like A Pill" treatment: smooshing the two songs together to form one gorgeous mixed-genre baby! I just wish her vocals had been a little bit more peppy because though good, they were just missing that fire- which Pink usually has in spades- needed to sell the lyrics fully.

[Watch] Pink Performs "Try" @ American Music Awards 2012

Pink never fails to amaze me with her drive and ambition. I don't know many (any?) artist who would dare to bring the intense and dangerous choreography from  her exceptional music video Try to a live stage. But being the crazy S.O.B that she is, Pink did just that for her performance at the 2012 American Music Awards.

[New Music Video] Pink "Try"

#Confessiontime.Though Pink's last single Blow Me (One Last Kiss) did end up growing on me, I was relieved when I (eventually) listened to its accompanying album and realised it was probably the weakest song from The Truth About Love.

[Watch] P!nk And No Doubt Join Forces @ I Heart Festival

just a girl Gwen stefani Pink

Say What?! P!nk AND Gwen Stefani on one stage?  Performing? Together?? Yes, calm down! It happened during No Doubt's set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Unfortunately it was for only (half of) one song, but what song could be more appropriate than the girl power anthem, Just A Girl.

[Watch] Pink Performs At The 2012 Itunes Festival

Are you desperate to know what P!nk is bringing with next album, The Truth About Love? You could just wait till it's released on the 18th of September, but really, who likes waiting?  Instead, watch the fiery singer showcase some of the new tracks, along with some of her classics, during her 80-minute Itunes Festival set, below.

I haven't watched all of it, I'm pretty sure it's going to get taken offline at some point soon, so I thought I'd quickly share it with you guys and gals while it's still there in cyberspace. Enjoy! I will!

[New Video] P!nk- "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)"

Was P!nk's new video shot on a HD camcorder and edited together on the bundled video software that comes with every Mac? Because it sure looks like something I could have created at my local National Trust manner house, with a budget of ...let's say....50 quid. Realistically most of that'll go on the booze- because this is one director who needs to be liqueured up to create his "art"- but I'm sure I could create something that is a close approximation of the video Dave Meyers' delivered here for Blow Me (One Last Kiss)...well bar the flying machine part at the end. I'd probably need an extra tenner for that!

P!nk Sings Acoustic set For Radio Station Z100

With the release of new single Blow Me (One Last Kiss), and her upcoming sixth studio album The Truth About Love (due September),  Pop-Punk princess P!nk is getting herself back out there and letting the world know she's ready to rock (publically), again!

P!nk "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" [Review]

I love P!nk, but I don't love her new single, Blow Me (One Last Kiss). I had heard the demo version of the Greg Kurstin produced song a couple of days ago, and thankfully they've improved on that somewhat- production wise- because that was awful.

However, what this fine-tuned version has made me realise, is that it may have been the lyrical content that was the problem, more so than anything else.
