Demi Lovato - "You Don't Do it For Me Anymore"

Post by: Montrez Rambo

Demi Lovato shows studio growth in new single You Don't Do it For Me Anymore".

The slow R&B ballad, with its gospel influenced vocals, is reminiscent in production to that of Dangerous Woman by Ms. Grande. But who cares, vocally it's better.

Demi gave good dynamics! Demi gave solid head voice! Demi gave precise runs! Demi gave sizeable sounding belts! The girl's vocals had drama and conviction. Her vibrato didn't sound like a pelican burping, either!

[New Music] Demi Lovato - "Body Say"

Katy Perry, Britney Spears and now Demi Lovato, all releasing new music on this weekend eve. There must be something in the water!

'80s in flavour, Body Say is another saucy song from the oft-salty Diva. Laid back and breezy in production, the vocals are similar in tone, kept (pretty) restrained. It's the cooing and sensual delivery of Demi that is, for the most part, left to reel in a listener.

[#FreeKesha] Taylor Swift Donates Money To Kesha, Demi Lovato Remains (unim)Pressed

In the midst of a surprising amount of support from her fellow Divas, Kesha's musical career suffered another setback last week.

Demi Lovato nails Christina Aguilera Impression on Tonight Show's "Wheel of Musical Impressions"

Christina Aguilera has done it. Ariana Grande has done it. And now comes the time for fellow vocalist, Demi Lovato, to peacock those mimicking skills on The Tonight Show's Wheel of Musical Impressions. Most interestingly from the segment was Demi tackling Ms. Aguilera's style, which she had to apply to the Spongebob Squarepants theme. Oh, The Tonight Show, you're so wacky....*Eye roll*

Demi Lovato Rocks 2015 AMAs With "Confident"... Not So Much With Alanis Morissette Link-Up

It's always tough writing about a performance when you don't feel the song. With that in mind, I'll comment in generalities for Demi Lovato's live rendition of Confident at the 2015 AMAs.

The staging was good, with some great lighting driving the energy. Demi wasn't a slouch either, selling the song's message with confidence and attitude. But that would all be for naught if she flopped on the vocal front.....which she didn't! The lowest notes were a little iffy but the rest was really good, with the Diva delivering her signature brand of edgy belting. Interestingly, she didn't inject as much weight into the belt as we've heard previously, but that was a smart choice, making the top notes sound healthier and easier.

Demi Lovato Covers Adele's "Hello" @ KISS FM’s "Fall Ball"

Demi Lovato didn't do the best of jobs when she tackled the American national anthem a few weeks back. However, it was a different story this weekend in Seattle, where the Diva covered Adele's monster comeback hit, Hello.

Demi Lovato sings "The Star-Spangled Banner" @ Game 4 of the World Series

Demi Lovato is up in all our faces promoting the release of her latest LP, Confident.

Her latest stop was at game 4 of the World Series- whatever that is- to sing the range-y national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.

[Watch] Demi Lovato delivers a Raw and Impressive Version of "Stone Cold"

With Cool For the Summer, and her newly discovered sexuality being drastically somewhat at odds with the image Demi Lovato had previously cultivated, it was little wonder core fans had started to feel alienated. Poor dem.

But Demi, being a smart cookie, has just gone and released something that should soothe their concerns AND impress those new to the flock. See, it is possible to be more than one thing, people. We can be both saint and sinner....especially when it could affect the bottom dollar (!)

[Vocal Profile] Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato

Vocal Type: Full-Lyric Soprano
Vocal Range: C#3 - Bb5 - EB7 (4 octaves one note)
Vocal Strengths: In possession of a strong, dark, raspy and mid-weighted soprano voice, Demi Lovato is known for her powerful instrument that is piercing in tone and able enough to cut through thick instrumentation [Remember December].

Demi, unlike most "entertainers" of today, relies heavily on her voice to convey the drama and emotion of a song. It's perhaps because of this, she continues to develop and train her instrument. The gains are most noticeable during performances where it has helped to remedy previous live vocal inconsistencies. Alongside this training, Lovato has also improved her musicality, creating a unique, contemporary-oriented style of harmonising that works with her voice and melodies [Lightweight].

Demi Lovato Brings "Let It Go" To Royal Variety Show 2014

Two Demi Lovato posts in as many days! People will start to talk if this trend persists!!

Today's post is solely about Demi- no other singers cluttering up the stage here- and her appearance at the Royal Variety Show, where she got to sing in front of British Royalty and other supposedly important people. Lucky her!

[Watch] Demi Lovato Replaces Ariana Grande During "Bang Bang" Live Showing

Ariana Grande move over! Demi Lovato is the vocalist we really deserved for the Jessie J collaboration extravaganza that was Bang Bang. And thanks to a live showing in San Jose, CA, we finally got to hear how the song could have sounded if a punchier vocalist had taken up the reigns of the track's second vocalist.

[Battle] Demi Lovato Vs. Ariana Grande - Which Is The Better Singer?

ariana vs demi

New segment time! Get out the decorations, it's party time! Done? Now put em away! Ain't nobody got time fo' no party! So what's the new segment? Well it's something I've previously avoided out of fear of the site being overrun by nutters- but I live in fear no more!! Why? Because all that drinking over the holiday season has given me some sort of brain damage and I now trust people to be sensible when dealing with Divas being pitted against one another!

[Video Spam] Demi Lovato, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Britney Spears, Regina Spektor and Beyonce

Video spam time again! Get ready to be hit with a random assortment of Diva related videos!

First up we have Ellie Goulding's new track, Burn. Clearly hoping to capitalise on the success she's enjoying in the club with her Calvin Harris duet I Need Your Love, Burn has Ellie continuing in a similar vein. Dance floors beware!

Burn is taken from the re-release of second album Halycon, now called Halcyon Days, and a useless fact for you: a version of the song was originally recorded by Leona Lewis for her Glassheart album!

[Versus] Who Sang "Stay" (Live) Better: Demi Lovato Or Rihanna?

Demi Lovato is one of the new generation of Divas- along with Ariana Grande- whose vocal profile gets a heck of a lot of hits daily. Not only that, but I know there are a number of regular readers, or "Lovatics", who also enjoy the X-Factor USA judge's musical output and voice. This being so, I thought I'd play to the crowd and post her rendition of Rihanna's Stay, which was filmed at the B96 Pepsi Summer Smash in Chicago.

Needless to say, Demi has no problem handling the Mikky Ekko assisted duet. For the most part she refrains from going crazy with the pipes, sticking pretty faithfully to the song's melody. But let's get real, no one wants to hear a cover sang exactly as the original was- there's kinda no point- and Demi knows it, "Lovatomising" the song at its climax by taking it up an octave. Vocally impressive, but does it match or even best Rihanna's original?

[Music Video] Demi Lovato "Heart Attack"

Having wrapped up her judging gig on season one of The X-Factor (USA), MS. Demi Lovato is back to the day job- AKA releasing great music!

Produced by The Suspex, new single Heart Attack continues to demonstrate Demi's knack for releasing hot singles and delivering great vocals- seriously, that layered harmony on the bridge is impressive. And it seems people are sitting up and taking notice, as the track has enjoyed the third largest first-week sales of any single this year! So congratulations are in order!

Also, are Demi and Kelly Clarkson related, somehow?  The physical resemblances between the two only became apparent to me while watching the video for Heart Attack. But now, when I combine that with them both having awesome voices, the only possible explanation (that I can come up with) for the similarities is that they must be family.... Right? No?! Well screw you guys, I'm going to start spreading it anyway!

You all enjoy the video while I start working on my pitch to the National Enquirer.

[Watch] Demi Lovato Covers Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas"

"All I Want For Christmas" is a Mariah Carey song, and thus, despite her making it sound as easy to sing as it is for me to overindulge during the festive season, it's actually not. Case in point, Ms Demi Lovato and her rendition of the song at the 31st Annual "Christmas In Washington" concert.

Having heard Demi sing live a number of times, I was actually looking forward to her take on this Holiday classic. She doesn't have the subtlest voice, being prone to, lets just say, "over projecting" at times, but I honestly thought this was a song she would handle well. However,I think Demi's nerves, and the resulting lack of control over her voice, got the better of her.

[Discuss] Britney Spears and Demi Lovato Join X-Factor Judging Panel.

Okay, I've kind of given up on reality talent shows of late, but I thought the fact that Divas Britney Spears and Demi Lovato had just been revealed to be taking up positions on season two of  X-Factor (US), it was worth posting on.

After jettisoning his own "friend", Cheryl Cole from series one, it was clear from the outset that no one was safe from Simon Cowell's chopping block and his evil quest for ratings and the success of his own talent show format.

Clearly unhappy with the state of things at the end of the first season, Cowell then turned his axe on Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and presenter Steve Jones in a radical move that left two bloodied seats on the panel up for grabs. Seats which Britney Spears- who collects a cool $15 million- and Demi Lovato will now occupy.

Live Review: Demi Lovato sings "Skyscraper" live on America's Got Talent

Now in all honestly I have no real idea who Demmi Lovato is. Other than knowing she's popular with the kids/tweens of the world and that I did a vocal profile on her a while back- that didn't really leave any lasting impression (see here)- she's not someone who I've ever had much cause to come into contact with. Well that all changed after she popped up on America's Got Talent to perform new single, and Broken Strings slight sound alike, Skyscraper. Not only did Demi Lovato give a confident and assured performance, but she brought a solid vocal too, with the G5 at 3.14 and sustained D5 at 3.30 totally taking me by surprise.

I won't be running out to devour her back catalougue any time soon, but this performance, and the song itself,  has certainly made me re-evaluate Ms Lovato and her place in the music world.
