[Watch] Mariah Carey Demonstrates She Still Has Her Five Octave Range On New Album "Me.I.Am Mariah"

So, no one bought Mariah Carey's new album Me.I Am Mariah (allow for slight exaggeration on my part). That being so, I thought I'd show you- via a video from YouTuber Mariah Greyson - what you missed out on the vocal front!

Ten Reasons To Pick Up "Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse"

Mariah Carey is predicted to enter the Billboard album chart with her lowest opening figures, ever! We all know music doesn't shift like it used to, but a prediction of 55-60K is shocking for a musical A-lister like Mazza.

This post is going to come off shady as f**k but bear with me- it's genuinely not my intent.

[Listening Party/ Discuss/ First Thoughts] "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse"

I'm not sure this was a good idea from team Mariah. As of today, the entirety of Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse has been put up on Itunes Radio for streaming. (And as of a millisecond after that moment, I'm sure it was ripped and made available, illegally.) Still, what do I know!

[New Music] Mariah Carey - "Thirsty"

Jeez, Mariah. What is this mess of a new song, Thirsty??

Really, I don't even know how to react to this. There's a part of me hoping I'm slightly in shock from the direction she's decided to take with the track, and that it'll grow on me once the HQ version  hits. But honestly, this Pour It Up/ Obsessed/ Ni**as In Paris hybrid just sounds awful to me and I can't see myself changing my mind. Vocally, she doesn't sound great either, with the end belt being stringy, unpleasant and nigh on impossible for her to recreate live.

[Discuss] Mariah Carey Reveals New Album Name And Cover Art

Scrapping original title The Art Of Letting Go, Mimi has finally confirmed the name of her first LP in four years. You ready for it? Well here it! The new album is called Me.I am Mariah.

I have a feeling the promotion is going to have a lot of "This album is the real me" moments - much like was the case with The Emancipation Of Mimi. The cover art also looks suspiciously familiar, and is, unsurprisingly, Photoshopped to the gawds.

At least we finally have some concrete info about her new project- even if it is hardly a groundbreaking reveal. I was worried for a moment the project was going to be pushed back into oblivion!

Fan Trumps Mariah Carey And Rodney Jerkins With "You're Mine (Eternal)" Rework

Wow oh wow! Whilst incredibly bored, I found myself perusing fan-made versions of Mariah Carey's You're Mine, taking particular masochistic pleasure listening to people attempt the climax without fumbling the key or damaging the organic drums in my ears.  A tough ask it seemed, but I'm glad I persevered with it.

Whereas most of the renditions saw the individuals sing over an oddly tempo-ed instrumental that seems to be doing the rounds, YouTuber alcoholharmony totally reworked the ballad, transforming it into a more authentic representation of the genre at its source.

[Listen] Mariah Carey Sings "Happy Birthday" / "You're Mine" Remix Live From The Shower, Angels Cry!

Media personality B. Scott is one lucky Lamb! Not only has he gotten to star in a Mariah Carey music video- Up Out My Face- but he was also bestowed this magical gift of Mimi singing an impromptu Happy Birthday whilst apparently in the shower!

Listen to Mimi kill it vocally with belts, whispers and whistles. Maybe a shower cubicle should be a prerequisite for all her live performances from now on!

Mariah Carey "Sings" "You're Mine (Eternal)" @ 2014 BET Honours

We already heard the leaked recording of Mariah Carey singing You're Mine (Eternal) at the 2014 BET Honours after some cheeky chappy uploaded the audio straight after the ceremony was taped. Well yesterday finally saw the show televised, giving us the opportunity to watch Mariah belt out the ballad for the first time ever.

Not having had the luxury of seeing Mariah's actions/ mannerisms while singing, or even having heard the song prior to the leak, I initially thought Mimi sounded live when I heard the audio. However, watching the accompanying visuals, the whole thing looks lipped- and almost comically so.

Now, I'm not sure if that's down to the editing, or if they went in and dubbed bits, but it looked SOOO lipped. The oddest thing about it was how consistent the voice remained throughout, despite the microphone being at different distances from the Diva's mouth. Along with Mariah's tell (hamming up a performance), I couldn't help but come to the conclusion that Mimi was lipping to a pre-recorded track.

Anyone hoping this showing would be the one that reignited interest in the flagging song, prepare yourself for disappointment.

[Review] Mariah Carey Gets Slushy (And A Little Repetitive) With "You're Mine (Eternal)"

They're here! Mariah Carey has released the album version and remix- featuring Trey Songz- of You're Mine (Eternal). This is the third song to be lifted from the Diva's May-due album The Art Of Letting Go, and no doubt she's hoping it'll echo, and build upon, the success of her last big hit, Beautiful.

After listening to her performance of the song at the BET Honors [here] I was craving the studio version of the Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins produced You're Mine (Eternal) like a fiend. However, since hearing it in its mastered glory, the similarities it shares with Mimi's biggest hit We Belong Together have become more apparent, leaving me a little bummed. I'm definitely feeling the laid back and "direct" (read: less "whispery") vocal, but lyrically and production-wise, I feel like we've covered this ground with Mariah many, many times before.

The Diva was definitely onto something with the fresher sound she cultivated with Miguel on Beautiful- the positive public reaction attested to that. So it's a shame she decided to look to past hits for inspiration with this track, especially when has so recently been shown Mariah can still be relevant if she chooses to move forward with her music.

Still, I like You're Mine- just not as much as I thought I was going to.

Rating: B

[New Music] Mariah Carey - "You're Mine"

No sooner had Mariah Carey performed her Valentine-due, new single You're Mine at the 2014 BET Honors, no sooner was it leaked onto the internet. Hardly a surprise, but I'm sure Mimi is a little vexed by it happening. But since it's here, we might as well take a listen.

Her new single is Rnb, through and through. It brings to mind Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel's glorious H.A.T.E.U, while simultaneously containing a little motif that had me digging up Alicia Keys' Like You'll Never See Me Again.

This "live" recording of the third single to be lifted from Carey's new album, The Art Of Letting Go, doesn't feature much of the Diva's trademark melisma- which seems to be something of a theme with this project. However, it does have some octave jumping at the song's climax. This starts on a chest note (D5), which transitions up a register to a whistle note (E6). From this high, the diva then drops to a D6, holding it until the track ends. Impressive stuff.

Though quite a good recording of You're Mine, I'm still excited to hear it in its mastered form. Not long to wait now...

Mariah Carey Gifts 2013 With A Medley Of Greatest Hits Before It Passes

[Watch] Mariah Carey Duets With Michael Bublé on "All I Want For Christmas Is You"

Michael Bublé Mariah Carey

Michael Bublé welcomed festive Diva, Mariah Carey, to his Christmas Special yesterday to duet on her holiday classic All I Want for Christmas Is You.

Now we've had our fair share of fluctuating vocals this holiday from Mariah [Hear: Bad /Good], so it was anyone's guess which way this recording would go. Good news is, she smashed it! There was some rasp at the top of the chest, but Mariah was nimble and dynamic, sounding healthy and rested throughout the rest of the range. I especially loved the way she didn't let that end riff go, still singing while Bublé was wrapping up the segment. #Diva!

[Watch] Mariah Carey Brings "The Voice" To 2013 Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting

Mariah Carey Rockefeller Christmas

Mariah Carey must have known she couldn't mess about with tricks and backing tracks when performing at the 81st Annual Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting in New York City. After all, she was on the bill with Leona Lewis, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson and Mary J Blige- all singers who have cited her as their own inspiration. Even still, I wasn't expecting this level of vocal health from the songbird!

It was evident from watching Joy To The World- which was a brave choice to sing, fully live, considering how full on it is- that the Diva's stamina is in better shape than it has been in a long while. It was because of this improvement that Mariah was sustaining belts and switching registers like the glory days.(Okay, a tiny bit hyperbolic, but it was still impressive to watch).

In addition to that, it was refreshing to watch Mariah not try to recreate the studio versions of the songs. Instead she switched up the arrangements for Joy To The World and All I want For Christmas on the fly. Something a person (me), who has watched too many live performances of these songs, really appreciated. Hopefully we'll see more of this approach from now on.

Is this a positive sign for the next chapter in the book of Mariah Carey's ever evolving voice? Only time will tell. But I sure am pumped for her next live showing!

Mariah Carey Apologises For The Release Of The Wrong Version Of "The Art Of Letting Go"

[Hit Or Miss?] Mariah Carey- "The Art Of Letting Go"

ARGH! I'm out and have no way to listen to Mariah Carey's new song, The Art Of Letting Go, which has debuted on the Diva's Facebook page!! Please guys, take a listen to it at that link and let me know what I should expect by leaving a comment. I've already had one opinion-from a member of family- saying simply: "Auto-Tune". Should I be worried?! Or are they trolling me, knowing I can't hear it! If it is bad, please at least let the glorious strings and soaring whistles that were hinted at in the teaser be indicative of a quality production!

And if you can't be bothered to leave a long and descriptive comment, simply vote: Hit or miss?I'll try and listen to the song as soon as possible- which will probably be tomorrow morning now. PLEASE LET IT BE GOOD!!

[Listen] Mariah Carey Piques Interest With "Art Of Letting Go" Teaser

11.11.13 is the date for the Facebook release (say what?) of Mariah Carey's new single, The Art Of Letting Go. I didn't see this teaser on the date it was released as it was a certain special day for myself, but I thankfully happened to stumble upon it by chance today, three days later.

I am genuinely sooo exited about the song after watching the video. The Diva speaking about the project previously had failed to get my juices going, and even listening to her repeating old clichés during the clip itself didn't excite.

The music playing in the background, however, spoke more loudly than anything Mariah could say: live orchestra, beautiful whistle notes and Larry Gold! All excellent signs that this project will see an evolution and maturing of the Rnb-pop sound Carey has been pushing for well over a decade.

Take a listen to the teaser, below!

[News Spam] Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Cher and Charlotte Church

Mariah Carey has released the title to the follow-up single to smash, #Beautiful. Are you ready for this? Well here it is, the name of her next single will be: The Art Of Letting Go...Yes, the same title as that of her new album. You know, the one she told us the name of back in August! Totally worth the wait...

Also, Mariah dropped a message to her lambs, via Facebook, telling them of the trials and tribulations that she has suffered of late. Her latest set will reflect these struggles, thus creating one of her most "important albums" to date . No shade, but Mariah, you say near enough the same thing everytime you release a new album. Still stoked for it though.

[Random Spam] Lady Gaga, Mel C, Jessie J, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Selina Gomez.

So some of you may or may not know that I'm currently up in Oxford helping a brother move! As so, I haven't been able to update the blog- Booo! However,  I've managed to find a laptop in his boxes and piggyback off a stranger's WiFi to quickly cobble together a post. Watch me get hacked (!)

Having been away from the internet for the week, I'm currently behind on what's going on in the world of Divas and music. Thus, to kill two birds with one stone (a post and catching up) I thought it made sense to do a varied Spam post.

Enjoy.
