Jessie J being Sued For Copyright Infringement!

Oh dear, looks like Jessie J is being sued for copyright infringement. The song in question is her second UK number one hit-and no favourite of mine- 2011's Domino.

The song sure did remind me a lot of Katy Perry's Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) when it was released, but as it was produced and written by the same people- notably Dr. Luke- it couldn't really be deemed plagiarism or infringment. More sloppy seconds, if you will.

Alicia Keys "A New Day" [New Music]

Alicia Keys has debuted a new song, A New Day, from her upcoming fifth studio album! Yay! Heavy beats, inspirational lyrics and an uplifting sound are what it delivers. As for the vocal, Alicia Keys is sounding coarser and throatier than ever, and much more akin to the live voice that we've heard lately.

Haim − "Forever" [Recommended Listening]

You'd think MTV would have the hang of adding credits to the start and THE END of the videos they play by now!! Obviously not! I Just watched a video, from halfway, and was eagerly awaiting its end so I could get the details to share with you guys, but no, MTV didn't want to make my life any easier, and decided to forgo those credits!

Watch Rihanna @ BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival

Say what you like about Rihanna, but she always sings live and she always gives a hundred and ten percent during her performances. It's an attitude a lot of people could learn from. Case in point her extensive, closing, set at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival.

Watch Leona Lewis @ Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival

leona lewis hackney radio 1 festivel

As mentioned yesterday, Leona Lewis opened the Radio 1 Hackney Weekend Festival on the main stage. Being a Hackney native, the singer was on home ground, but that didn't stop the nerves showing a little at the start, but she quickly got it together as the set progressed.

Watch Lana Del Rey @ BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival

It takes some nerve to rock up to a festival with just a string quartet and a piano, but it's just what Lana Del Rey did for her set at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival.

Duelling Divas: " I Will Always Love You"

This is what happens when us normal, regular folk try to tackle the Whitney Houston version of I Will Always Love You:

Though the critically acclaimed song was written and released by Dolly Parton in 1973, it wasn't until Whitney Houston covered the song two decades later that it really took on the iconic status it now enjoys. In fact Houston's rendition was such a worldwide phenomenon, and so different from the original, that many didn't realise it was a cover or a Country song.

Afraid of the 2012 Armageddon?

Scared of this happening to the Earth at the end of 2012 (well you might be after you've seen the gif...lol):

Celine Dion Covers Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" [Listen]

I was just yesterday thinking how there was a distinct lack of Celine Dion on this site! Well today this live performance of Celine Dion singing Adele's Rolling In The Deep fell into my lap, almost as if a gift! Take a listen below.

[Listen] Alexandra Burke's "Heartbreak On Hold"

Personally, it's unsurprising to me that Alexandra Burke's sophmore album Heartbreak On Hold hasn't done that well, charting at only number 18 on the UK album chart.

Alex's biggest asset is her voice, but the first two singles from the album, Elephant and Let It Go, displayed little of its unique character, or undeniable power. It's a problem that unfortunately runs through the whole album, but is compounded further by the poor/clichéd lyrics, boring melodies and flat production.

Check out the tracks from Heartbreak On Hold below:

Lady Gaga Responds To Madonna's "Shade" During A Performance Of "Hair"

lady Gaga and Madonna fight

The Born This Way/ Express Yourself saga continues! Our last chapter in the story had Madonna showing us that though she may be the Queen of Pop, it isn't the only crown she wears with pride, being the undisputed Queen of shade, too.

Lana Del Rey "Body Electric" [New Song]

What is Lana Del Rey doing debuting new music when her album, Born To Die, still has so many great songs on it that need to be released and heard by those who aren't yet converted to the cult of Del Rey! I suppose I shouldn't complain when the song in question, Body Electric, is actually really good, but still, it feels too early for new music, especially when fresh Lizzie Grant albums keep surfacing.

Cheryl Cole Proves She Can't Sing Live.

Cheryl (Cole) had something to prove. Having performed Call My Name at The Voice semi-final a week ago, she had been accused of making a mockery of the program and its premise by lip-synching. It was an accusation her team denied, but the Girls Aloud member clearly felt the need to prove her vocal chops by singing live during her duet with Gary Barlow at this weekend's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Either that, or she had no choice but to sing live.

Mariah Carey ambushed on stage by Crazed Fan In Monaco. [Watch]

mariah carey attacked by crazed fan.

The title pretty much says it all! Mariah Carey was performing in Monaco and had just finished singing Hero, the closing song on her setlist, when out of nowhere an "eager" fan jumps onto the stage and charges at the singer!

The Winner of Season One of "The Voice" UK is....

...this lady!! Yay, a Diva won the first ever series of The voice, UK. I should mention her name, it's Leanne Mitchell, and having not watching any of the series I am in no position to offer anything but congratulations! I don't even know if she wins anything, though I assume she gets a recording contract. What I do know is that she was mentored by Tom Jones, and was not the bookmakers favourite to win (Thanks BBC website!).

Coldplay & Rihanna "Princess Of China" [New Video]

Coldplay and Rihanna finally release the green-screen heavy video for single Princess Of China [which I reviewed here, what seems like an eternity ago]. The teaser released a while back hinted that something a little special, and dare I "iconic" was in the making, but the actual video doesn't quite fulfil that promise. Well not to me anyway.

Reader Spotlight: Karen Vinter

Today is quite a momentous day for us here at Divadevotee. For today is the day that we shine a little bit of love and light on one of our most loyal supporters, Ms Karen Vinter!

Karen has been one of a group of people- you know who your are- who have kept this blog going with their participation, support and kind words.

Over the course of our many exchanges it transpired that Karen was in fact a singer, and knowing this I couldn't help but push for a taster! It took some time, but eventually she was kind enough to send me audio of some of the songs she had covered. Songs which you too can now hear below.
