[New Music] Leona Lewis "Glassheart"

leona lewis entertainment

Title track Glassheart has hit the net, and it clearly shows that Leona Lewis isn't quite done with the clubs yet!

Whereas flop, lead single Collide approached the genre in a lazy and cynical way-with Leona merely providing a vocal over an already huge dance track in the hope it would guarantee a hit- Glassheart proves the X-Factor winner can hold her own in the club, material willing!

[Watch] Colton Haynes Joins Leona Lewis In "Trouble" Music Video

trouble still leona haynes

The video for Leona Lewis' new single, Trouble, has hit the net. Co-starring Teen Wolf actor Colton Haynes as the Diva's other half in this troubled relationship, the video charts the breakdown of their once happy life together via a series of flashbacks.

I think "edgy" and "realness" is what the director was going for- check out the constantly shifting camera, muted colour scheme, and "urban" setting- but as for most things Leona Lewis (other than her voice) it's strangely lifeless and dull. An odd result considering the acting isn't half bad.

[watch] Leona Lewis Performs Accoustic Version Of "Trouble"

Leona Lewis singing music entertainment

With the release of new album Glassheart fast approaching, it looks like Leona Lewis is stepping up the promotional trail of its second single, Trouble [Review].

Just released is this beautiful and acoustic rendition of the song, and it has to be said, it packs quite a mightier punch than the "edgier" version that's been shipped to radio.

Leona Lewis gives a stunning vocal that shows a voice that is restrained but powerful, multifaceted in tone and timbre, but ultimately brilliantly controlled. It's clear to hear that all those years of vocal training have paid off, making her one of the most technical singers of the next generation of Divas.

Still not a fan of her vibrato, though...

[Review] Leona Lewis : "Trouble"

Leona Lewis has released a new song from her upcoming third LP, Glassheart. And people, you can all relax, because the dance direction last single Collide was showcasing is nowhere to be found. Instead, new song Trouble is a dramatic, and building mid-tempo song that puts Leona Lewis firmly back in safer (musical) territory, though with an edgier attitude courtesy of the lyrics.

Fellow British Diva Emeli Sande was responsible for penning Trouble, and her influence can be heard strongly throughout the song. Not just lyrically, but musically: with the composition and structuring of the song seeming to mirror Sande's own breakthrough hit Heaven quite heavily. It's a choice that really only fails on Trouble's chorus; which contains too many distracting pauses in the vocal melody for this listeners taste.

Watch Leona Lewis @ Radio 1's Hackney Weekend Festival

leona lewis hackney radio 1 festivel

As mentioned yesterday, Leona Lewis opened the Radio 1 Hackney Weekend Festival on the main stage. Being a Hackney native, the singer was on home ground, but that didn't stop the nerves showing a little at the start, but she quickly got it together as the set progressed.

Duelling Divas: " I Will Always Love You"

This is what happens when us normal, regular folk try to tackle the Whitney Houston version of I Will Always Love You:

Though the critically acclaimed song was written and released by Dolly Parton in 1973, it wasn't until Whitney Houston covered the song two decades later that it really took on the iconic status it now enjoys. In fact Houston's rendition was such a worldwide phenomenon, and so different from the original, that many didn't realise it was a cover or a Country song.

Leona Lewis Dazzles At The 2011 Royal Variety Show, And Hits Some Of Her Lowest Notes Ever

With an apparent crisis of confidence in the club sound Leona Lewis courted with last single Collide, Leona and her team have decided to take her back to safer territory with the new EP Hurt while they figure out how to retool the upcoming 2012 album.

Consisting of 3 distinctly sombre, mid-tempo songs- which is odd considering the festive time of year- Leona decided to showcase the title track, and Nine Inch Nails (NIN) cover, at this year's Royal Variety show.

Leona Lewis turns cover star at the 2011Doha Tribeca Film Festival

Though not the most exciting pop star about, British X-Factor winner Leona Lewis has something that most pop Diva's don't have and would kill for: a great voice. Its with this gift that Leona took to the stage at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival to deliver a great selection of cover songs.

The songs chosen all shared the common factor of being originally sung by male singers. Featured were Grenade by Bruno Mars, Apologise by OneRepublic and my personal favourite out of the the songs that were chosen, Kiss From a Rose by Seal.

Leona Lewis sings "Collide" Live on "Red or Black. Also, has she had a nose job?

Leona Lewis sang new single Collide live on Simon Cowells new UK game show, Red or Black. Though Leona started off shaky, she managed to gain confidence when the heavy backing vocals kicked in, providing her voice a little cover and support. After that point her voice soared on its own, though struggling slightly in the lower extremes of the verses, and she proceeded to give a great rendition of the Avicii sampled song. The set was also surprisingly good- Simon Cowell has really managed to secure a big budget for the show- but I hated that they based the routine around the shows name, it was pretty tacky- as I should mention this post is about it to get. Still not liking the song though. I just can't get over that sample.

Diva dos and don'ts for when you forget the lyrics!

Next to cracking or missing that big note, forgetting the lyrics has got to be every Diva's nightmare. Christina Aguilera will probably be noted as the most famous victim of this feared scenario, having recently experienced it as she sang the American National Anthem to an audience of 111 million- the largest ever for a live broadcast- at the American Super Bowl. It wasn't all bad though, she managed to generate her own meme-see below- out of the experience. A feat surely to rival any awards or accolades she has obtained thus far.

(If you don't know what a meme is those pictures are going to seem pretty obtuse...lol)

Feeling for our singers, we here at DivaDevotee- with many thanks to Devotite Karen who suggested and researched this post- have compiled a list of do's and don'ts to help our Diva's deal with this unfortunate situation if, heaven forbid, it were to happen to them.

Review: Leona Lewis : "Collide" What do you think?

Leona Lewis is back with new single Collide and depressingly, even after a few listens, its not sitting well with me.

With the lukewarm success of her last album, it looks like the team behind Leona have decided to push towards the club sound that is EVERYWHERE to ensure her new endeavour will recapture past glories. So I guess who better to turn to than producer Sandy Vee- who had a hand in producing the massive sellers that were Only Girl (In the World) and Fireworks- to deliver a hit.

Leona Lewis' Labyrinth tour: O2

Having seen plenty of Leonas' live performancespre and post X-Factor via youtube, I was pretty sure that I wasn’t in for an energetic, highly choreographed show, but rather an evening of solid vocals. However, having never seen her sing more then one song in succession I wondered how she would muster the stamina for a whole show. The short answer is she kind of didn't.
