[Watch] Adele Bottles It With 2016 Grammy Performance

The 2016 Grammy Awards should have been the cherry atop Adele's triumphant return sundae. Unfortunately technical cock-ups on the night saw the Diva delivering her worst performance to date.

Clearly taking it all in good spirit, the singer-songwriter tweeted the following:

[Watch] Taylor Swift Opens The 2016 Grammy Awards With "Out Of The Woods"

*2016 GRAMMY SPOILER* Taylor Swift was the recipient of the coveted Album of the Year award at the 2016 Grammys for her smash, 1989. #SwiftiesRejoyce

But she didn't just win awards! The Diva also opened the show with a live rendition of Out Of The Woods. Surprisingly it was a simple performance with the spotlight squarely on Taylor- who looked to be revelling in the honour. Vocally it wasn't anything to get excited about, but I'm sure that won't come as shock to anyone.

Lady Gaga Rocks Grammy Awards With Bowie Tribute

gaga bowie tribute

The world tragically lost one of its musical icons last month with the passing of David Bowie. Being a show that celebrates music, the 2016 Grammys chose to mark the passing of a legend with a tribute that featured some of his biggest hits. The task of bringing those songs to the stage was left to none other than eccentric performer Lady Gaga.

Beyonce Controversially Revels in Her Black Roots With "Formation" Performance @ 2016 Super Bowl

Beyonce really did shock me with her decision to debut the controversial new track Formation at the 2016 Super Bowl half-time show.

Not only did she perform the politically-charged song, she also had Black Panther imagery going on- with the dancers all dressed in black berets- and the lyrics proudly remained unchanged. Could it be that with her current contract ending, the Diva is finally breaking free and expressing herself more candidly? Or was this a calculated move to get as much publicity for the announcement of the Formation tour that followed quickly after the performance?

Lady Gaga Channels a Little Whitney with "Star Spangled Banner" Rendition @ Super Bowl 2016

Super Bowl finale time, so you know what that means: somebody is getting their chance to impress the nation with that iconic Star Spangled Banner slot. 2016's singer was none other than Mother Monster (does she still call herself that?), Lady Gaga!

Adele Careers Into Nicki Minaj's Lane With Carpool Karaoke Session

adele james corden carpool

James Corden's series of celebrity carpools for The Late Late Show has already managed to create some iconic moments in its relatively short existence.

Who could forget Mariah Carey's stiff as an arthritic Tin Man wine? Or Jennifer Hudson releasing the beast and somehow not blowing out the car windows as she belted And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going. But today's ride around London town, featuring Adele, might have just surpassed them all in terms of entertainment value.

Celine Dion Not So Successfully Attempts Adele's "Hello"

When people lazily throw out the word "overrated" when speaking about Adele, the easiest way I find to help them see that this isn't quite fair is to show them someone else singing her material. After all, if she was overrated, surely anyone could do what she does.

Aretha Franklin Brings Kennedy Center Honors To Their Feet With "Natural Woman" Rendition

Aretha Franklin (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman - Kennedy Center Honors 2015

In a year of not so great Aretha Franklin performances, this one of (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, recorded at the Kennedy Center Honors comes as a redeeming closer to 2015 for the Diva.

Singing before a host of stars, including the American President, Aretha gave us a vocal that finally saw her break free from the curse that kept her channelling a forever boiling kettle and back delivering measured and musically astute performances. Sure, she wasn't scaling old heights (no sh*t, Sherlock, she's 73) but the voice was sounding mighty good.

[Watch] Christina Aguilera Sings "Beautiful" and Duets With Seth Macfarlane On "New York, New York"

It's Christmas time and Christina Aguilera is out to play, serving up two helpings of live showings in one week!

First up we have her rendition of New York, New York which she sang with  Seth Macfarlane for the laughably titled Live at Sinatra: Voice for a Century.

Monica Promotes "Code Red" With Medley @ Wendy Williams Show

monica wendy williams 2015

Monica's Code Red is out! I'll be picking it up and finally making good on my promise of updating her dilapidated profile. So if any of you have anything to say about her voice, leave it in the comments here, and I'll see if I can work it in.

Promoting her eighth album on The Wendy Williams Show, the Diva performed a medley ofhits. (Doth two songs maketh a "medley...?) To those wondering which is from the new LP, it was the second song, Just Right for Me. The first was of course her breakout track, Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days), which was released TWENTY years ago!! ARK!>!!PGOHKDD  #Dead

Honestly, this wasn't the best of showings from Monica, with the voice sounding kind of drier than usual and (here comes everyone's favourite word(!)) pitchy. We know the Diva can sing, so I'm not bothered.

Rita Ora And Louisa Johnson Tackle The Mighty "And I Am Telling You" @ X-Factor Semi-final

Rita Ora brought the goods when the time came to duet with her mentee, Louisa Johnson on the X-Factor semi-finals last weekend. Singing the done-to-death, singing contest staple, And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, the pair used the belt-heavy show tune to peacock their respective instruments for the voting public.

I think for those only tangibly aware of Rita's singing career, the performance may actually give cause to think twice when judging her potential. Ultimately, it's not the best showing of the Dreamgirls' torch song, but Rita's elastic delivery and multiple F5s are worth checking out. They might come as a surprise to those of you who instinctively think of the "I don't know her" Gif whenever the Diva's name comes up.

[Watch] Celine Dion Delivers Sombre Performance Of "O Holy Night" @ Michael Buble Christmas Special

Michael Buble Christmas special celine dion

Celine Dion is going through some tough stuff right now. Maybe it was knowing this that had me so moved by her evocative rendition of O Holy Night, recorded for a Michael Buble Christmas special.

With beautifully simple staging, Celine delivered a touching take on the seasonal carol. With minimal belting, it was her control and poise that lifted the performance. Usually not being a fan of the traditional style of the carol, which this was, it was the melancholy edge - that I'm probably projecting onto it- that lifted the performance from the mundane, transforming it into the most     affecting version of O Holy Night I've heard by a Diva.

Mary J Blige Gives Us Festive Feels With "The Christmas Song" @ White Hot Holiday

MJB singing White Hot Holiday

On the Patti Labelle and John Legend post I spoke about not knowing who the "Terrance and Taraji" in the Fox special Terrance and Taraji‘s White Hot Holiday were. Only now has it clicked that the guy introducing the performers is Terrance Howard. Thus, logically, Taraji must be another actor in the show Empire. I'm so old....

[Watch] Patti LaBelle and John Legend perform "O Holy Night" @ White Hot Holiday

Patti LaBelle and John Legend perform "O Holy Night"

No clue who Taraaji and Terrence are, but the pair had a special called White Hot Holiday on Fox. I suspect it's all Empire related, but since I haven't watched the show - yet- I'm in the dark and oblivious. And even if it is related to the show, I'm not sure where this special fits in. What has Empire got to do with Christmas? Lordt knows.

[Watch] Sia Outclasses X-Factor Contestants With Impresseive Rendition Of "Alive"

sia uk xfactor 2015

Sia touched down on the UK shores this weekend to sing at the X-Factor semi-finals.

Tackling the Adele co-penned Alive, the Diva gained widespread praise for her performance, which featured her atop a magical box. Part of me wonders if the acclaim was more so for the unique staging than the song or the vocals -which admittedly were spot on. But I suppose, ultimately, it doesn't really matter since the desired effect was achieved. It got err'one talking!

Rick Ross And Busta Rhymes Both Tap Mariah Carey For "Nostalgia Moments"

With two Mariah Carey videos to ruminate on today, I thought it would be best for all concerned to combine them into one mega Mariah post. Could there any better way to start your week than with some Mimi? (“Drunk” is the only other acceptable answer to that question.)

Both videos involve Mariah covering old material, so you know what that means… unavoidable comparisons! And that's never good. With that in mind, I'm only going to focus on zee pozitivez.

[Watch] Brandy, Fantasia and Some Dudes Tribute Babyface @ 2015 Soul Train Awards

Babyface is a musical legend. From producing hits for just about everyone; to running a commercially successful label (LaFace); to having a solo career in his own right, the guy is music royalty. No question.

Gwen Stefani Brings "Used To Love You" To The Voice

Gwen Stefani sure has an odd, wobbly delivery. I'd never really noticed it until I listened to this live showing of Used to Love You recorded for The Voice.

JoJo Gives "Say Love" An Acoustic Makeover

Is JoJo fighting a losing battle with the continued push of material from Tringle? I'm thinking so. But here we are, another video promoting it makes its way onto the vocalist's YouTube channel. As  ungrateful as I sound, the truth is I'm just greedy for stronger material. So the sooner this era finishes, the sooner another can begin.

Demi Lovato Rocks 2015 AMAs With "Confident"... Not So Much With Alanis Morissette Link-Up

It's always tough writing about a performance when you don't feel the song. With that in mind, I'll comment in generalities for Demi Lovato's live rendition of Confident at the 2015 AMAs.

The staging was good, with some great lighting driving the energy. Demi wasn't a slouch either, selling the song's message with confidence and attitude. But that would all be for naught if she flopped on the vocal front.....which she didn't! The lowest notes were a little iffy but the rest was really good, with the Diva delivering her signature brand of edgy belting. Interestingly, she didn't inject as much weight into the belt as we've heard previously, but that was a smart choice, making the top notes sound healthier and easier.
